    Great soundtrack. Glad I purchased.Loved the movie and love the soundtrack. I listen quite often.5Love the Soundtrack. Loved the Movie"American Hustle" is an excellent movie. It has excellent songs as well. I'd never heard "Long Black Road" by ELO before, but once I heard it at the end of this movie, I just had to have it. I play it over and over again. It's a great song with a great message about life. Yet there's another favorite song of mine: "Live and Let Die" by Paul McCartney and Wings. I just love this song. There's another ELO song as well as a Bee Gees song that are both great. There's even a Duke Ellington jazz song, "Jeep's Blues", and an Elton John song, "Good-bye Yellow Brick Road", on the soundtrack. I give this soundtrack A-one and five stars. It's a great CD at a great price.5A Fab MovieCool movie with great tunes!4Awesome soundtrack to a brilliant movieI wanted to pick this up even before seeing the film because of the amazing artists, but wouldn't allow myself to until I had. ELO/Jeff Lynne, Elton John, Duke Ellington, Danny Elfman, Wings... Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is one of my favorite songs from Elton and I never owned one of his albums, so it's inclusion here was perfect for me. There is a terrific cover of White Rabbit and the Bee Gees How Can you mend a Broken Heart (quicker than the Al Green version I'm used to) and America's A Horse with No Name lend-- at least in my mind-- a sort of vague continuity in a very eclectic album that contains disco, jazz, lounge singing and an oddly enjoyable song of revenge and tragedy by Tom Jones. The Duke Ellington track sets the mood beautifully and at the albums close we are treated to, short as it is, one of the best Elfman tracks to date, but the icing on the cake is a rare ELO track titled Long Black Road. it's so catchy I could just keep skipping back and playing it over and over, and I have.5Ambiance or cooking musicThis is a great album because it's a compilation of songs you wouldn't usually pick, but fun for background nonetheless.As others mentioned, you might be disappointed about some of the movie songs missing.5Blast from the pastWell arranged choices of music from the movie soundtrack, it was a blast from my past and is very well recorded.I have it in my CD changer in my car and listen to it often, it is a greatest hits of the period, a must have.5A Great Surprise!I debated about getting this for a long while, but the price was right, and if I had dual copies of songs, so what. I initially searched for it because of the Jeff Lynne ELO tracks, but the mix of songs is really good! I like eclectic playlists, that come out of nowhere and this is that! I love this! And you will too!5Great music (from a great movie)!This review is for the LP (record / Vinyl) version of this, which is apparently not missing as much as the CD release. Of note, the amazon 'autorip' mp3 downloads that are included with the LP purchase are apparently only what is on the CDThe sound quality of the LP is certainly acceptable, and better. I don't have the most critical ear, but it sounds really good to me. Especially considering it's standard weight colored vinyl (red for the first LP, blue for the second), it performs well with most of the subtleties etc coming through clearly, i.e. the whisper in 'How Can You Mend a Broken Heart' is subtle but clear.If you like this genre you'll love this LP.5the music is a great "Cliff's Notes" for the filmThoroughly evocative of the motion picture experience. Once you've seen the movie, the music is a great "Cliff's Notes" for the film. Being able to recall this or that scene via the soundtrack is a pleasure. Sure, there are songs that were left off - licensing, don'tcha know. But that shouldn't stop you from enjoying the best group of period songs this side of "Awesome Mix #1."5Jeep's BluesThe soundtrack to David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" was such a knockout with Alabama Shakes' "Always Alright" rising to my favorite song of the year in my own personal top ten. I figured with such a great ear for music and the ability to use it in a film, I should try listening Russell's latest hit "American Hustle." Duke Ellington's "Jeep's Blues" immediately caught my ear with its bluesy jazz and has become a mainstay in my short-list song rotation here in 2014. Cut in 1956, Ellington's smoky sax track brings to mind a sexy swanky era in music that glues my ears to the speakers. Mayssa Karaa's Arabic lyric to the Jefferson Airplane's rock-smoker hit "White Rabbit" is off-center enough that it makes the most of the great familiar song with a twist of the Middle East. "10538 Overture" by Electric Light Orchestra churns delightfully with a 70s flair. "Long Black Road" rests on a rhythmic riff and punches its way with some slamming electric lead guitar. ELO's Jeff Lynne's "Stream of Stars" apparently written for the film sounds like homage to surfer music by Dick Dale. The CD concludes with Danny Elfman's pixie-like instrumental gem "Irving's Montage." This soundtrack is immensely listenable with gems like Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," Donna Summer's "Love to Love You Baby" and Wing's great James Bond hit "Live & Let Die." Enjoy!5
