Customer Reviews

This is his best DVD. Get this one if you like Andrea ...This is his best DVD. Get this one if you like Andrea Bocelli.5Superb ConcertI was not familiar with Andrea Bocelli when I purchased this disk. I certainly did not know that he is blind. I was blown away by his talent. The performers he chose to accompany him, matched and complemented his talent exceedingly well. His brief introductions between tracks were not at all "excessive". I watched some of the performances over and over (particularly those with Sarah Brightman). Musically, I found all of them flawless, and my young children were equally captivated and impressed.I was primarily looking for a pristine Blu-ray audio/video experience, though, and I felt that it fell a little short here and there. The image quality is fantastic, with full HD resolution, great dynamic range, no distracting noise (even in the darkest of scenes), and no compression artifacts. But the image is frequently slightly out of focus. Most of the cameras seem to wander in and out of razor-sharp focus as they move, and when they come to rest, they may or may not be in perfect focus. Nobody else noticed this, nor were they concerned about it when I pointed it out. The 5.1 PCM audio track sounds really good, with fantastic dynamic and tonal range, and no A/V sync problems. The soundstage is immersive, and faithful to a live concert experience. Since the concert was held outdoors, I expected none of the reverb typical in a concert hall, but a very minor reverb still exists due to the amplification at the venue (or perhaps it was added intentionally). This does not distract, and may even enhance the sound. However, I recoiled at the unnatural sound of the audience applause (thankfully not too frequent). It sounds as though it was recorded in a pipe for better microphone directionality.Nevertheless, the faults are highly insignificant, and this is one disk I will continue to play again and again. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with an appreciation for top quality music and performances.4the video is totally acceptable and will look nice to most viewersI was mesmerized by this performance! I started playing it as a quick demo before giving it to my father and I ended up watching the whole thing. Picture-quality wise, while not reference quality, the video is totally acceptable and will look nice to most viewers, it is very decent HD, aside from one very bad camera and maybe 1-2 others that are out of focus. The sound, as it should be, is the star here. Andrea and his guest performers are amazing. I have to admit, while familiar with his name, I've never listened to Andrea before. I can't understand what hes saying but it all sounds so beautiful, it doesn't matter. All in all, this is a must buy, can't recommend it enough. I'm now a fan of Andrea and will buy my own copy to enjoy and show off to others =]5Cannot play this from a computer!I could not play this on my desktop.Only from a higher end DVD/Blu-ray player attached to a TV could I view this.No PC software that I downloaded would play this media on my desktop (where I view 100% of my DVDs/Blu-Rays/CD's due to my disability). So, for future enthusiasts, just use Vevo or Youtube and forget purchasing this item.3Great Performance... lovely voice....magical concertI try to avoid watching concerts for the fear of being distracted from the music by lights, fashion, and fake dramatics. Watching Bocelli's concert definitely changed my mind about television viewing of concerts. It's hard to select the best song, but the great performance of "CANTO DELLA TERRA" with Sarah Brightman, "VIVERE" with Laura Pausini and "LA VOCE DEL SILENZIO" with Elisa surely stand out, so much so that they became my favorite night lullabys. Maybe it's only me, but I couldn't help noticing that Brightman and Bocelli are old friends that very much enjoy working together. Also, while watching VIVERE, I just couldn't help but noticing how Bocelli's face lit up when hearing Pausini's voice, a great performance that looked to me like love making in highest form.Only a musical giant like Bocelli can be humble enough to get that number of talents to share the spotlight in his concert like Kenny G, Heather Headley, Chris Botti, and Lang Lang. Elisa and Lang Lang were given the opportunity of using Bocelli's stage to perform their own works, which added more to the glorious concert and just reinforced my view of Andrea Bocelli's humility and generosity.Discovering talents like Lang Lang and Elisa in this concert is a great pleasure to add to the enjoyment of experiencing Bocelli's "Live in Tuscany" enchanted night.5Best everAnyone who is a Bocelli fan will love this DVD. Everything about the performance and everyone involved is top notch. It made me wish I was wealthy enough to be there in person. I was not familiar with several of the performers and will look for their music now also.It seems to me Bocelli has improved since my favorite previous CD of his - Romanza - even though I would have thought that unlikely. He has a perfect voice for Italian romance classics, probably the best ever. I was a big Povorotti fan, but he was better with Opera than this type of classical music. The backup music as well as guest musicians are all first rate as well. Any classical music fan should have this DVD in their collection.5WONDERFUL!!!!!!!This concert is currently paying ON PBS all over the USA and is a wonderful event. It was recorded in Bocelli's Home town in Tuscany and is in a beautiful outdoor setting. The songs are all the songs from his new Hits collection plus more. Andrea Bocelli, is the world's most popular tenor (and Best selling) and pop sensation as well, This set is all pop (crossover), Though some of it has a classical feel to it.The Songs include a nice selection of some of Bocelli's best work Bocelli has a very beautiful voice, that expresses much emotion. His tone and diction are excellent and his Volume is much better then the critics claim, he voice is always moving, his singing touches one's heart and goes right into ones soul. The tracks include Songo;; Canto Della Sera duet with Sarah Brightman; a Medley, (Besame mucho \ Somos novios - It's impossible \ Can't Help Falling In Love); Time to Say Goodbye-Con Te Partino; (with Sarah Brightman), Vivo Per Lei- duet with Heather Headley; Melodrama; The Prayer- duet with Heather Headley; and Because We Believe; a new English/Italian version of Vivere called Dear To Live with Laura Pausani a popular Italian singer; A wonderful song called La Voce Del Silenzio duet with Elisa; a beautiful song called A TE featuring Kenny G on saxophone; A very cool classical sounding song with Lang Lang, on Piano, called IO CI SARO; and another new song, very contemporary, called BELLISSIME STELLE which may be my favorite song of the new songs. Also doen with Chris Botti is Italia a new song written by David Foster and on Botti's new album with Andrea questing on vocals, and it is a beautiful song. The Extra Audio CD has 7 songs Italia, live version featuring Chris Botti; La Voce Del Silenzio, featuring Elisa; Medley, (Besame mucho \ Somos novios - It's impossible \ Can't help falling in love) Live version; Canto Della Terra, featuring Sarah Brightman; Mille Lune Mille Onde; Se La Gente Usasse Il Cuore; and Domani, one of my favorite songs. This is a great DVD (and or set) for any Bocelli fan, for the fan because it is beautiful and has the 6 new songs (5 new and one alternative version, Plus different partners on the Duets). And is a great set for new fans because it has many of his hits. This would be a good first DVD for someone new to Bocelli.5Poorly ManufacturedWe did not get to watch this DVD. When it was manufactured, the disc was put into the jewel box packaging so tightly that it was extremely difficult to get it out. The disc physically broke when I finally got it loose. The lesson from this is to always make sure a disc can be removed as soon as you take delivery.1The seller said it is like new but it is notPurchased this with a mistake, thought that it was a Bluray disc, my fault. The seller said it is like new but it is not. The disc has radial scratches over a few places and was dirty. I have to wish it to clean up. Fortunately it was able to play ok. I purchase many CD and DVD/Bluray from amazon used vendor. Most of time I am very happy...I saw the Bluray version in my friend's place on a 100" screen. It was breath taking in both audio and colorful, hi-res picture quality. Now, this DVD copy is a very different story. Picture was very soft even after a good Bluray player's up sampling to 1080P. Color was a bit dead and wished out. You may say Bluray should be a lot better than DVD. Well, quite a few DVD actually have amazing resolution after being play by a high quality Bluray player. In small screen such as 32", they looks almost like Bluray. Again, not this DVD, even on a 32" HDTV. It must be having a poor copy to convert to.3Another aspect of a great tenorAndrea Bocelli is from Tuscany, and this DVD takes us there. It is a wonderful blending of styles, and the extra material included will bring the audience to the place he loves so much.5
