Customer Reviews

Love Aurifil thread! This white Aurifil 50 wt thread is my most used and loved thread, so I love that I can buy it cheaply on Amazon. Excellent quality for thin thread! If you want something thicker, look at the weight of the thread...the higher the wt, the thinner the thread. 5Highly recommended for both piecing and quiltingHighly recommended for both piecing and quilting, I purchased my first spool of Aurifil here. It sewed beautifully in my computerized sewing/embroidery machine. I used it to hand-stitch the binding to the back of a table runner, and boy was it trouble! I used a lot of Thread Heaven, and then tried beeswax, and it was a constant battle of knotting, twisting, fraying, etc. The ONLY way I could get it to behave was to dip my fingers in water and smooth the thread with it. Once sewn, the stitches were virtually invisible to the eye. Unless someone can advise me as to what to do to aid in hand sewing with this, I will likely never purchase it again. Any suggestions?3Doesn't BreakThis thread does not break even with very fast machine quilting. It fills a bobbin so it lasts longer. Aurifil is pricey, but in the long run, it is worth the cost. It doesn't shred or break, and is very smooth.5Best thread for quilt piecing, bar none! How many times have you carefully measured before cutting your pieces, used a quarter inch foot on your machine and slowly stitched the pieces precisely to form a block . . .then measured your block and discovered it was smaller than the instructions said it should be?This used to be the most frustrating part about quilting for me . . .so much so, I'd take my blocks to various instructors to trouble shoot. That's when I discovered Aurifil 50 wt thread. I never realized how much difference the thread could make. But think about it . . .if the thread being used is approximately the same size as the threads woven into the fabric, the seams bury themselves into the fabric and take up less space . . .making perfect seams every time. Now, run a length of chain store thread through your fingertips and notice the lumps . . .absolutely no lumps in the Aurifil thread. Absolutely, hands down, the best thread for piecing. However, because it's so fine, if stitching garments, it's certainly strong enough to hold seams together, but it's more difficult to pull gathers . . .so don't get rid of your poly/cotton threads as they still come in handy for garment sewing . . .but nothing but Aurifil comes near my quilts!5I love Aurifil thread Ad stated it was 3 pack of thread, when it was only 1 spool that was labeled incorrectly, I was refunded for the entire cost. That s not the one star issue, in my opinion, this spool of thread is defective. I love Aurifil thread, usually very high quality, but the thread is wound poorly at the top and there is also some discolor in the same area. Very noticeable since the thread is white and thread does not flow smoothly through my machine. Now it will be wound on bobbins to keep from wasting it. 1I love this thread I love Aurifil thread. None of my machines have ever had an issue using this thread. I began using it for my best projects but now it's my standard thread for everyday use. It provides nice flat seams. 5Bobbin winding is the best!I finally caved and bought new thread because I was so sick of the one I previously purchased basically shredding apart when I thred the needle. This threads awesome , and as I saw other reviews say..I am amazed at how long my bobbin lasts!5greatIt is great to use for quilting.5Great thread!Good thread for quilting by machine or hand. Aurifil is the industry standard for threads. I use it for machine quilting.5Simply the BESTI have not been quilting for a long time, but I immediately noticed the difference when I started using this thread. I first used it for hand quilting and was amazed at how much easier it was to use and how much better my stitches looked.... then for machine piecing and then for hand piecing.... All of those tasks were easier and looked better with this thread. Will not use anything else now.5Great thread for piecing and Free Motion QuiltingThis thread is a wonderful find, allowing an accurate 1/4" seam due to it's thinness. This makes it much easier to square up the blocks and then again the quilt top as there is much less size variability. So much goes into quilting it doesn't pay to use cheap thread- you'll literally see the difference at the end of the piecing and quilting process with a "wonky" looking quilt top. I don't like the curliness of Aurofil, besides that there's nothing bad to say, lots of good (large spools go on forever, more thread able to be wound on the bobbin, relatively lint free, strong). The neutral collection is good for most quilting needs with a nice variety of the basic neutrals needed for piece work.5Can't get exact 1/4" seams? Try this threadHow many times have you carefully measured before cutting your pieces, used a quarter inch foot on your machine and slowly stitched the pieces precisely to form a block . . .then measured your block and discovered it was smaller than the instructions said it should be?This used to be the most frustrating part about quilting for me . . .so much so, I'd take my blocks to various instructors to trouble shoot. I especially notice this difference when using my smaller machine with standard size bobbins. More time sewing, less time winding bobbins, helps me make the most of my limited sewing time.5Wrong colors delivered Timely delivery however not as described. Received three different colors (2024, 2310, and 2600). Thankfully, I m piecing and the 2024 is close enough to 2021 that I can still use it. Would try returning but am in the middle of a project and don t have time to wait and I ll find a way to use the other colors at some point. Good thread! 4EndlessI'm using this for a quilt. The thread is strong and the spool NEVER RUNS OUT. I'm very happy with this thread and plan to continue to use this brand.5Great thread for quilters If you are a quilter there is nothing better than this brand of thread. It is very thin so you can wind more on a bobbin and it is very strong. It leaves very little lint. One spool lasts a long time. It is well worth the price. 5
