Customer Reviews

Excellent music! Improperly mixed!Great till i found some of the music tracks were cut off and seamlessly mixed. this is a movie ost not a trance remix album. sometimes i think the production people just dont care...if you are looking for this album with all the songs complete theres a b0ot leg that does it better by off-world music. unfortunately this album was a limited release with only 2000 copies made in 1993. So good luck finding a copy and expect to pay premium price for it if you do find one...4Mostly Met ExpectationsI was expecting just the music tracks, but mixed in with the music were some of the iconic voice tracks from the movie. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, just unexpected. The unused tracks in the second disk were interesting; I really liked some of them. The third disk was well done and caught the essence of the movie, but I wasn't moved to a 5 star rating.4Another addition to the classic movieI'm such a fan of this movie and soundtrack. I watched the theatrical release and I've collected every variation of the movie which has been available on DVD. Whether is was the theatrical release or Director's Cut - I loved them both. I had no idea there was a version of the soundtrack which included NEW songs by Vangelis, songs inspired by the movie. In my opinion, ALL his songs surrounding this movie were inspired - some before the movie which were included in the original and some afterward and contained in this 2007 release. Anything new which touches on this epic movie and soundtrack is worthwhile and precious.5Revised opinion -- one more starThe soundtrack's extended saga is as annoying as the many iterations of the film itself. Don't get me wrong, I love both music and movie (saw every version in the cinema upon their various releases) and as works of art, they both earn 5 stars. I just would be happy with one version of each, unadulterated. For me the 1992 Director's cut made a great film better -- now stop there. As for the music, the bootleg Esper edition did the best job giving fans most of the score, in sequence, with some key dialogue (lots of Deckard & Rachel, and Roy's valedictory speech left intact), and with the extra music Vangelis included on his official '94 release. My attitude towards soundtracks is that if I like a film's score, I want it, so strip out the dialogue (well, maybe not in this case!) and let us hear the music as it appeared at the moment of viewing. I love all classic Vangelis (Spiral, China, Masque -- you name it) but this triple-disc set is just a scam. Or a sham. Or both.Revised opinion (2013): My original complaint was in reaction to disc 1 and to Vangelis's ongoing attitude towards making the complete score available. Really, the other discs are fine. The second harbors a fair chunk of that rare score, albeit retooled and boosted by two fine new tracks, and emerges as an entirely different Vangelis rendering of Blade Runner. His first version took stuff he liked from the film, jiggered it a bit and added great new music (i.e., Blade Runner Blues) to make his audio rendering of the story. That's what he's done here too, and this latest variant stands on its own as an atmospheric, rather ambient album that would appeal to fans of Soil Festivities or the quieter parts of Antarctica. The results are understandably annoying to Blade Runner purists, but to be fair, that's what he always did for his soundtrack work (see Alexander, 1492, even Chariots of Fire). As for the third disc, it offers some serviceably progressive and uptempo compositions (sampling the OST in a couple of places) that recall The City or even See You Later, especially with Up & Running, No Expectation Blvd, and the beautiful Piano In An Empty Room. I quite enjoy shuffling discs 2 & 3 together, in fact, for an extended "new release." So overall a good Vangelis album, just not the Holy Grail we were hoping for.3Awesome! Let's celebrate and enjoy it's music now and forever. This is my all time, best of the best favorite movie soundtrack. The additional tracks included are exceptional. Vangelis is a GENIUS and it's music way ahead of our time. Future generations will admire him the way we now admire some of the best classical composers.5Awesome set of 3 disk from the movie blade runner A nice addition to my soundtrack collection this 3 disk collection from one vangelis best albums if your fan of the movie or Vangelis this 3 disk set is a most for any Vangelis fan . Super seller fast shipping buy with confidence.5Tears in the rain...you have to understand just how deeply this movie and soundtrack have been etched into my brain. Blade Runner like Brazil and Princess Bride are movies i can quote near verbatim. I've appreciated Vangelis and his music for decades but his arrangements used on this movie were and still are absolutely stunning. The 3 disk set includes many tracks that were written for the movie but never used, which is unfortunate since they are stunningly beautiful, especially "wait for me". Blade Runner Blues is moody and folds itself around you before letting you go on your way...5This Blade Runner score is more than a cut above prior releases of the film's musicA release I was surprised to see has seen the light of day. This set offers up what the film's many loyal fans have no doubt sought for years. Prior releases of the score sated loyal listeners for many years but the first release is by and large unimpressive, the one that was later released offered more but this is the definitive package.5while I'd love all the music, this is probably the best we'll getLike any Blade Runner fan, I'd love to one day be able to purchase a soundtrack that has ALL of the music from the film. However, my understanding is that there is a legal dispute between Ridley Scott and Vangelis, so that likely won't ever happen. This collection does give us most of the film score.Disc 1 is essentially the 1994 release, supposedly enhanced (it sounds a bit better, but marginally so). Disc 2 has music from the movie that hasn't been released before. There are some great tracks, such as Tyrell's death. For some reason they're not in the order that they appear in the film, but at least we have them. Disc 3 is a hodgepodge of music by Vangelis. Some of it's soothing, some of its useless. I personally would rather Vangelis have released the first two discs for a lower price rather than tack on this third disc.Sadly, I suspect this is as good as we'll ever get. You owe it to yourself to at least purchase the mp3s for disc 2 separately.4Good and Better in some ways to Vangelis other works.Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou is a Greek composer of electronic, progressive, ambient, jazz, pop rock, and orchestral music under the artist name Vangelis. Composing and performing most of his music on a large setup of keyboards and synthesizers, Vangelis has released over 40 albums and created music for film, theater productions and one-off live concerts. His music, usually very melodic, often instrumental, sometimes relaxing, but always inspiring. A one man band? Perhaps. I don't know much about him beyond that I enjoy this type of music ever since I heard it on Carl Sagan's COSMOS. You think of Vangelis as a composer with historical echoes of Ravel and Debussy, save what he writes is 50 years ahead of any other ambient composer. It holds the a heavenly, otherworldly tranquility to it. Therefore all the future sounds a listener expects, such as what was found in Heaven and Hell, Part I, Chariots of Fire: Main Theme, I'll Find My Way Home and a few other titles. Vangelis was one of the first to create such music. I strongly believe it is the foundation to music found in The Hearts Of Space CD's. For it produces the same emotions of imagination and dreamscapes desired for meditation or creative works. To me, this is one reason I listen to this form of electronic music. As for negative aspects to the Blade Runner soundtrack itself? Well, I think they could have edited out the conversations of the movie itself. It is not much different than some other film scores I bought. One was from the Escape movies of John Carpenter. It had some music, but other tracks were the movie dialogue. In Blade Runner, it seems to be a split down the middle, some are pure themes others have some of the dialogue.4
