Customer Reviews

Woks with the YetiI bought this for my Blue Yeti, the mount it comes with is meant for stands not the small foot the yeti sits on if you do get this consider getting the "On Stage MA200 5/8-Inch Male to 3/8-Inch Female Mic Screw Adapter" as it will screw into the bottom of the Yeti and make a nice combo.4It is what it isFirst of all, what it is, is a professional-quality pop filter for use with professional-quality microphones and professional-quality microphone stands. It works well with either a vertical stand or a boom stand (with the caveat that if you attach it to a boom stand, you can't retract the boom all the way because it's attached to the boom, and it's sort of heavy so you need to crank the boom tightness lever tighter than you normally would). If you have some non-professional microphone or non-professional microphone stand, do *not* expect it to work for you, because that's not what it is. It might work in that case, but no guarantees. As for how well it works: Pretty much as well as it could. It has two layers of material with a space between them so you have to be breathing like Darth Vader to get any kind of puff past it. The stalk has plenty of ability to be twisted to where you need it, and is stiff enough to not flop around. One aspect of this thing is its size -- it's big, really big, so if you're accustomed to reading a teleprompter above or below your microphone to know what you're supposed to be saying (or singing) then you may have to adjust the filter. But that size means it definitely will give your microphone sufficient coverage to prevent puffs from making it go pop.5P-P-P-Poppin...I didn't really know what this was but it was sooooo cool looking I just had to have it! I found some pop's to try to filter but achieved only varying results:Popcorn (obvious first choice) - Doesn't really filter it all that well. The popcorn just runs over the side. I only tried it with fully popped corn so it may work well with unpopped kernals??Soda pop - I guess if you like your soda less carbonated then this is for you! It did quite well in reducing the level of carbonation bubbles and made the soda much more "smooth" to the palette. Quite refreshing actually and paired well with the popcorn.Pop gun - Somewhat successful. The flex arm made it almost impossible to accurately deflect the missiles coming from the gun. I'd say it was about 40-50% accurate in defensive mode.Jalapeno poppers - In a word, "Nasty". Don't try it!Popsicles - You really just have to let them melt on the filter and then suck the juice from under it. I mean really, why not just make and drink Kool-Aid?After the "pops" I tried to use it as a pasta filter but ran into the same problem as with the popcorn. It just ran over the sides and all over the floor. This made me kind of sad because my mouth was really watering for some good old mac and cheese!Other uses?Fly swatter - The flex arm makes this all but impossible. Even if you successfully "hit" a fly, all this thing does is GENTLY trap it under the mesh. As soon as you raise it the fly defiantly flips you off and meanders away.Water filter - We have hard water so we connected this to our kitchen faucet to filter out sediment and large particles (rocks) that come through our pipes. It does nothing for the sediment except help filter it down to a drinkable sludge. The rocks and larger particles simply bend this out of the way and drop right into our waiting receptacle. Sooo... worthless on larger particles. All in all I'm still trying to figure out a way to make this a "multi-tasker" and get the absolute best use out of it. So far it's held up well and I can see many long years of use left in it!If you know of any other useful purposes, please let me know!5CAD continues to make poor products, even with smaller itemsCAD is universally known, at least in my circles, as super low quality cheap stuff. From the mics to instruments to accessories. I thought maybe, this pop screen would be difference, since it's pretty basic. But nope, CAD continues it's flaws. The packaging of this thing was just plain horrible, it was so folded it up, I was afraid to even open it for fear it was already broken. Maybe that means it was a used item?? I dunno. After one day of use, and attaching it to a vocal mic stand, the pop screen fell off. The screw was tightened really good, and should have held it, but it just came out. I got it to stay on, but any sudden movements, or a light breeze from the air condition, and this thing is coming off.Not worth paying the shipping to return it, and will not buy any CAD items ever again2Cheap, surprisingly sturdy. You may wat to reconsider buying ANY filter. On this model, the top (filter) part is essentially pantyhose wrapped around a cardboard tube.Despite this, the clamp and adjuster parts are relatively good.In all honesty, Buy a nicer filter, or none at all. They do NOT make a huge difference on recording quality unless you're using Top-of-the-line microphones. If this is the case, spend the money to get a nicer filter. One nice thing- these keep artists from getting too close to the mic and essentially making out with them. I found that quality nice when dealing with... passionate vocalists.3Maybe it would have worked better if purchased with whatever product it was intended forI pruchased this to go with " RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom..." arm. I tried to connect this on all sides logical to me and they all require "rigging" to make it stay near the mic.The "arm" portion of this product, thus the long part between the connector and the filter itself is difficult to make stay in certain positions. Maybe it would have worked better if purchased with whatever product it was intended for.4Works great and not too smallThis is basically panty hose wrapped around a cylinder hooked to a gooseneck clamp. You could make this homemade but this one looks clean and professional and the size of the cylinder is perfect. Not small and tiny like some so that way if you move a little or blow air it still blocks it from the mic. It's two layers of panty hose type material separated by not quite a half inch so when the air hits the first layer it is diffused and THAT hits the 2nd layer and is all but diffused completely. I pop my Ps HORRIBLY and this thing still works great but once in a blue moon I'll still need to manually reduce around 40 to 100 by say 5 db for some bad Ps in my recordings. But that's my fault. The gooseneck bends great and it swivels so you can move it out of the way of the mic w/o changing the setup of the thing. This is a great pop screen, IMO.5Good for DIY, not good for Pro'sSound quality - Great. Hardware....This works just as expected - and I expected it to be on the cheap side, which it is, and I expected it to be hard to clamp, and I expected the goose neck to slide out of place some. While all of that sounds bad, it's a cheap pop filter. I wanted a cheap one, got it, and it works as so. If you fiddle with it, it works good. You have to re-adjust some times. It doesn't clamp very good on round stands. It's actually better with straight edges. I use it a lot for singing scratch vocals near my computer desk, so I mount it to the desk and rotate it in front of the mic stand. For that purpose - this is totally worth it for the price. The clamp on the filter as come loose comes loose and it rotates some, but only after 10 or 20 minutes maybe or with constant movement. If you're using this for a more professional use, you could probably find something better. The filter itself is great quality. You lose popping, breathing, hissing "S" sounds, etc. Just the mounts, neck, and clamps aren't that great. If you're DIY like I am, then this is a good choice. But if you're really dedicated to getting a great sound - release worthy sounds - then go a with a more reputable brand.3Simple, well-made, great price for a dependable no-hassle pop filter. We're a media company and we occasionally use audio. Nothing too fancy, just a solid condensor mic and editing. I originally purchased this for use with a mounted Samson C03U condensor mic. It's exactly as advertised -- a mesh guard attached to a flexible gooseneck that screws to the mic stand. The gooseneck holds its position, so setting it in place and using the mic without having to re-adjust makes things easy. The screw mount holds on to the mic stand just fine and doesn't slide around. After owning it for 4 years, I broke the first one of these I purchased (my fault entirely, it got crushed in the car) and immediately purchased another as a replacement. At $10, why go with anything else? The CAD pop filter is an excellent value.5Sturdy, able to easily keep its place without falling down or while being movedThis pop filter I bought for my MXL 770. I wanted something that wasn't going to require adjustment all the time (as I had read other reviews of other products which had the unfortunate tendency to slip from their position downward a lot).It has a nice feel to all parts of its construction, including the mesh. I was worried when I bought my desk stand that I was going to have problems attaching and keeping attached this pop filter, but to my surprise it has easily stayed on without a problem. The gooseneck pipe/tube (that is adjustable) is weighty enough to hold all day when I'm doing my recordings, and the link par that binds to the stand is tight enough to hold with movement of the entire stand (in fact the tube/pipe that connects the mesh filter to the link part of the stand does not even lose its place during movement at all).I highly recommend this pop filter to someone who wants one that is going to stay put through any movement in a normal setting and that doesn't have time to be propping up the mesh filter all the time.5
