Customer Reviews

This gets it right.Music is the same as in the movie. The tell is the Harmonica Man song. Other sound tracks don't get it right but this does. The 27 tracks are redundant but this album gets everything right. Worth the purchase price.5Remember the timeNot the best movie sound track album, but boy if you liked the movie as much as I did - you just have to have it. Most of the "songs" are more notions and sound-bites that bring you to the moment in the movie that you remember so well, but Morricone created such unique sounds that brought together sight, sound, and emotion. Unforgettable.5THANK YOU Mr. Morricone. One great soundtrack as well as the film. Ennio Morricone, you and your musicians plus your choice in characters create masterpieces. Enjoy to listen and view your work. THANK YOU !5WESTERN FILM MUSIC AT ITS MOST ITALIANThe CD insert and tray card are printed entirely in Italian, which I cannot read, but since it is a soundtrack composed by an Italian composer (Morricone) and featured in a Sergio Leone Western, I think the Italian gives the CD a little extra interest value. Love the music. Goes great with a nice Fortaleza Anejo or a Clase Azul.5From One of the Best Western Classics.I saw the movie on TV a few times and bought the VCR version, and then the DVD. I loved it from the opening water tower scene, until the credits stopped rolling. The music is as beautiful as the western vistas throughout the film. When listening to this original soundtrack you can easily visualize Claudia Cardinale's beautiful eyes and that funny hat at the train station. Every track brings this magnificent film to life in your head as you listen. Use caution if you listen while driving. It's that good.5" As really like that song and the way it is played as ...Mainly wanted the CD for the one song "Once Upon a Time in the West." As really like that song and the way it is played as haveheard other versions of it that I didn't care for.5Better than the American Imprint!Great soundtrack except for The Good , The Bad, and The Ugly. which is better. Morricone at his best.5Captivating, haunting and mysteriously beautifulThe most captivating and haunting movie soundtrack ever. The film is the superlative of Western films (with one of the great directors, Sergio Leone, of all time). The characters and storyline are unforgettable. Ennio Morricone's music brings you their pain, their loneliness, their memories of the past, their strength of character and maybe their hope for the future. Beautiful.5Spaghetti GoodIf you don't like this you are definitely missing a note of sound for music !!! Over !!!5Extended, remastered, "Once Upon A Time In The West" soundtrack....a sure-fire "Must-Have" for fans of Leone and Morricone! The written word can be powerful and persuasive as we all know, but sometimes (I feel) more is needed to express and experience some very ultra special things. And, so it is with Sergio Leone's "Once Upon A Time In The West" and here also Ennio Morricone's superb musical creations for the soundtrack for "OUATITW", which truly is the very Greatest Western Ever Made....and what a stroke of genious it turned out to be even though it died a quick death at the box office and it took years for it to grow and achieve this lauded status that it now holds. The Film MUST be seen in the widescreen restored version, and the soundtrack needs to be listened to in order to really understand the power of themselves....written words cannot truly serve the purpose here in the case of either this film nor this outstanding musical accompanyment to this classic film. This music is so perfect that it is impossible to imagine anything else ever being able to better serve this great story of the railroad coming to the West and what happened in Sweetwater at that time. This music will haunt you, break your heart, raise your spirits and stay with you, I bet, forever. You will come to love this great soundtrack and think of it frequently, and it will always bring a sigh of wondrous satisfaction in its beauty and other sections for their powerful evocation of power, deception, murder and retribution. Of all Morricone's hundreds of soundtracks that he wrote, this one, to me, is the very very best (with the possible exception of "The Mission" which is also very moving and powerful. This particular release of this music is the one that any serious collector or lover of music is going to want.....the RCA original release is truncated and very shrill to the ears and just "so cut" compared to this Italian import that is more than twice as long as that original release. I have long owned that original both on LP and CD and can honestly urge you to go for this release. My only wish would be that it would have been so great had it been processed for SACD for this release. It would be wonderful for sure to hear this awesome soundtrack in surround sound. Hopefully, as the 50th anniversary (hard to believe) of this awesome film is coming up in just a few years, we will get another updated restored version of the film, and perhaps another release of this album or even another, still more complete, release of this beautiful music updated to SACD.....what a way to honor both Leone and Morricone than to do these two "memorial" releases, and to celebrate, also, this landmark crowning achievement to the Western film catalogue!5
