Customer Reviews

Good Investment, makes knitting less frustrating. These are wonderful! You don't really appreciate a good set of needles until you have knitted on fragile, stiff estate sale needles. Knitting is much more rewarding now.The cable doesn't fight you like the cheap nylons, and the cable transitions are smooth. Each needle and cable is labeled and tells you if it needs a large or small cable or needle.I don't know how much time I waste trying to size unlabeled needles. You just pick te right set and go. I am totally getting their sock needles next!Interchangeables also save so much room. I had two boxes old circulars. Even if you make a special holder they take up a lot of room and get tangled. These are so much more portable. This set has all the basic accessories to get you started. The case has some bonus slots for more needles should you decide you need another pair of a size you use the most.If you like doing small stuff in the round without magic loop, get the 4" length needles. 5" is too long to use the 8" cable. This is definitely a step up from the Susan Bates interchangeable which come loose over time and still feel 'clicky' and unstable at the transition between the needle and cable. The non-transition ChiaoGoo circulars feel clicky at the transition points also, but not these. I have actually wore out and broke a few non-transition pair from overuse. These have stable transitions, and don't seem to put excessive strain on the cable to break it.Pic, ChaioGoo on yarn next unruly nylon needles. 5Replacing my Addi sI wasn t sure what to expect with these - I ve long been a fan of Addi needles, but I read the reviews of these and thought I d give them a try. These are great. I can t think of a negative (will update after continued use) - the join between the cord and needle is smooth and stays put, and the needle tips are phenomenal (they are more pointed than Addi, so they do a better job of picking up tighter stitches etc)Love the number of options in cord sizes available, the needles are nicely made, the cords are truly no memory, and the case is high quality. Definitely glad I purchased! 5Great Interchangeable Needle SetI love ChiaoGoo interchangeable (I have two sets now...Spin 5" tips and these Twist 4" tips). The 4" are great for knitting anything requiring a 16" circular like hats and small flat items, but you can attach Spin and Twist cables of any length to them to knit larger items like sweaters and blankets. I personally have to hold my needles different so I don't put pressure on the cable where it attaches to the join, but you may already hold tips so pressure isn't a problem. They have sharp points and are very lightweight needles. The case they come in is lovely, but I have problems getting the shorter tips out of their slot, so I made a zipper case that fits them perfectly.I recommend to anyone who is looking for the perfect interchangeable needle for them to buy just one set of tips and the cable length they need for their current project to see if they like them before buying an entire set. 5The best of the best! These needles ar the best I have ever used. I got the shorter four inch set because I have small hands and they fit beautifully in my hands. They have nice sharp pints for knitting Lace and the yarn glides over the needles. The metal is brushed which is helpful with very slippery yarn. This st comes with US sizs 2 through 15. It includes several cables in both large and small sizes. Small sized cables fit needles 2 through 8 and large sized cables fit needles 9 through 15. Large and small cables refers to the end of the cable that screws onto the needle not the length of the cable. Extra cables in different lengths are available at reasonable prices. The cables are the best I have ever used. They have no memory which means they won't get curled or twisted up. They come in a well made fabric zippered case with an extra pocket to store the cables. Each needle set has its own pocket and there are extra slots to store needles that you may want to duplicate. For example I like to have extra sets of sixes and sevens and I can store them in their own pocket right below the other set. This is the largest set I have found in terms of numbers of needles and the price is excellent! 5Great Quality, Great InvestmentThe quality is amazing. The joins are smooth, the cables don't kink up, and the carrying case keeps everything right where it should be.This set was bought to replace my Knit Picks nickle-plated interchangeable set. The Chiaogoos are a HUGE upgrade.Included in my set:* Soft carrying case* 4" tips in sizes US 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,10.5,11,13,15* 8" x2, 14", and 22" Cords for Smaller and Larger sizes (a total of 8 cords)* Plastic needle gauge/ruler* End stoppers* Keys to tighten & loosen tips* Connectors to join two cables together* Stitch marker rings in assorted sizes 5Why didn't I buy these soonerIf you're picking up the hobby and don't know if you're going to actively be knitting that much, I wouldn't stress on getting these.but if you honestly knit all the time and want something comfortable and smooth, GET THESE WITHOUT ANY BUYER REMORSE.I bought these and instantly felt regret (even though the price is incredibly reasonable compared to most).I'm incredibly frugal when it comes to spending on my knitting items, but I was really uncomfortable with my Takumi Bamboo interchangeable set. I often wouldn't even pick up projects because my fingers and palms would ache after having to knit with the tension they provided! So I bought these and my cheap side was all OH NOOO WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!??But ONCE I picked these up for a project, they felt so comfortable. I personally love how pointy and smooth they are. I know some prefer rounded tips (so they don't break the yarn) and the tension wooden/bamboo needles make to hold their stitched in place, but this build helped my hands make stitches at an even/smoother pace.I loved that the stitches just rolled off as I knitted (Continental knitter). No extra strain in my hand with having to squeeze stitches off the needle to the wire, no index finger pain from having to push the needle away or in the yarn. Just smooth sailing.I instanyl bought the Mini Chiogoo set after experiencing these. The iconic Chiaogoo wire is my all time favorite now. It's strong enough to knit two sleeves at the same time and no twist!!! NO TWIST. ugh.And their build of (L) and (s) sizes is genius. My takumi would just build a collection of finished stitches at the end of my needles that I would have to pull them to the wire because the large metal connector was keeping the small stitches in place. The small sized wires with chiaogoo makes the metal connect match the size of your stitches. GENIUS! I didn't even know that this small detail would make a difference, but my knitting speed has improved because of it. (Also no more tugging at wool and making it look felt-like)If you want a set that you want to keep forever and ranges form hat making to sweater making. THIS IS THE SET.I followed the advice to stay with the 4 inch needles since some say making hats with the longer needles was tedious. 5ChiaoGoo, I am in love with you!I have wanted an interchangeable knitting needle set for a long, long time. There are so many, how could I choose?Every knitter has a particular style and needs. Although I mostly knit Continental style (yarn in the left hand), I do not think that makes a difference for my choice of needle sets. Mine criteria are discussed below. I referred to a few fixed-length circular needles in various sizes to get a feel for how the tips feel and cable performs. Please refer to the photo above. It shows the difference between one US 7 (Item A) and three US 6 (Items B, C, D) needles. This ChiaoGoo (CG) set fulfilled every one of my criteria. At the time I purchased it, the price was reduced from $160 to $114. The "Twist" set contains metal needles. ChiaoGoo sells three types of sets: Small, containing 7 sizes - US 2 (2.75mm), US 3 (3.25mm), US 4 (3.55mm) , US 5 (3.75mm), US 6 (4mm), US 7 (4.5mm), US 8 (5mm); Large, containing 6 sizes - US 9 (5.5mm), US 10 (6mm), US 10.5 (6.5mm), US 11 (8mm), US 13 (9mm), and US 15 (10mm); and the Complete set containing 13 sizes overall. The tips are very smooth and fast. They have a longer taper than the HiyaHiya (HH) tips and are slightly sharper, but are not as sharp as the Knitters Pride (KP) Nova Platina Cubics. There are 2 sets of cables, Small and Large. All sets come with cables, connectors, and end stoppers. There is a choice of 4" or 5" tips, and the cables included vary depending upon tip length. All cables are interchangeable with the "Spin" (bamboo) ChiaoGoo tips. I purchased additional cables in 37" length (Small & Large) to cover all lengths I may desire.Although I like knitting with 5" tips best, I selected the 4" tips because I knit hats. These tips combined with the 8" cable, it makes a 16" circular needle and I do not need to purchase a special set just for hats. The case is beautiful black and white fabric with smooth zippers on the main compartment and equipment pocket. Inside the compartments for each needle is labeled and bound off nicely. A red ribbon graces the exterior. My only detraction from CG is that I wish the cords and connectors were color coded, Small vs. Large. They come separate in small zip-top baggies which fit in the equipment pocket. I will work on a different way of storing them for my own convenience. Yes, the diameter and connector sizes are different, but it's a hassle I think I'd like to bypass.Honestly, my first choice would have been a set of interchangeable KP metal Cubics needles. The tips have a long taper and are sharp, good for lace knitting and knitting on the tips of the needles as I do for equal tension. Fast. I also like the ergonomic cubic barrel of the tips. The black cord on the fixed needle I have is a bit stiffer than that of ChiaoGoo or HiyaHiya, but the cords for the interchangeable sets may be different. The needles of the DELUXE set are reported to be 4-5/8 inches each, and the interchangeable cords are color coded by length. BUT, the Deluxe set only included 9 sizes: US 4 (3.55mm) , US 5 (3.75mm), US 6 (4mm), US 7 (4.5mm), US 8 (5mm), and US 9 (5.5mm). Furthermore, I would have to purchase the set of the "specials" to make 16" lengths, and the cables are not interchangeable with the Deluxe set. KP also offers the Symfonie Rose Cubics Interchangeable Circular Deluxe Set which I did not consider. Nor did I consider the Symphonie Dreamz interchangeable set in which each size of needles are color coded, I prefer metal to wood or bamboo.COST swayed my decision. I would have been happy with a set of HH needles but the Limited Edition, 13-size set (including cables, tips, connectors, case, etc.), or individual Small or Large sets, were way more expensive than my CGs (ranging from $155-$180) at the time of writing. True, there was a choice of 4" with which I could make 16" hat-sized cables, or 5" tips. Also, these needles are the least sharp of the 3 metal types I compared in the photo.I hope this narrative helped someone choose their needle set. This is a big investment, but one I think will serve me well and provide lots of enjoyment over my knitting career. 5Great set, great valueBesides this set, I also have an Addi Click Lace Short set that I bought years ago, and Knitpicks Nickel set. So here s the comparison:- Chiagoo Twist has the sharpest point, which is great for delicate lacework. Addi is great for most lacework too, but not sharp enough for k3tog. Forget doing lacework with Knitpicks. I use Knitpicks for doing stockinette with very splitty yarn- I have both Chiagoo red cables and the clear nylon ones. The red cables are sturdy and hard, a bit too stiff for magic loop but still usable, the nylon clear cables are much softer, a bit softer than Addi SOS blue cables (which is my favorite). Addi red cables and Knitpicks purple cables are very stiff, not so nice for magic loop, although Note that I got Addi red cables about a decade ago, so they may get stiffer over time- I m not too crazy about the zing sound of metal rubbing agains metal of Chiagoo Twist. It s like the sound of a knife being sharpen. Somehow the sound of Addi tips is more of a click and less irritating. Knitpicks tips also make the zing sound(After using this set for a month, I got used to the "zing" sound and not bothered too much anymore)In the photos from left to right: Chiagoo Twist 4 , Addi Click Lace Short, Knitpicks Nickel 4I never knew knitting could be so smooth until I discovered ChiaoGooI've been knitting a little over a year. Soon after learning to knit I got an interchangeable circular knitting needle set from AC Moore. I was very happy with those needles for my first year of knitting, until I tried a ChiaoGoo circular knitting needle for doing Magic Loop knitting. I absolutely love the ChiaoGoo pointy tips and the way the yarn glides over the no-kink cables and smooth needles. After working with the ChiaoGoo needles I immediately added the 4" complete twist tip set to my wish list. I received them this weekend and am totally thrilled with the set. The cable/needle joins are smooth. The case has a lovely design and is compact. There are extra pouches in the case where I keep my plastic embroidery needles, my cable needle and some other accessories. The outside zipper pouch holds my tape measure and extra stitch markers along with the tools that came with the kit. There are enough cable lengths for the small needles and for the large needles, that when joined together give you any size cable you may need. I am so glad I discovered these wonderful needles. 5Perfect interchangeable setThese needles have just the right sharpness if you are knitting with sock yarn. I make a lot of Sock Head hats, so the small sizes and the 8" cable with these tips is just right. The stainless steel is slick but not so slippery that your stitches fall off if working with bamboo or silk blends. The joins are nearly perfect. The cables have no memory. The case has plenty of space for the included needle gauge, stitch markers and cables. There's also enough room to add in extra cable sizes. The size of the needle is laser-engraved so you don't have to guess which size you have. This set is well worth the money! 5
