Customer Reviews

These are wonderful for people who struggle with straight needles due to ...This was to make it easier for my Mother knitting a sweater for my brother. She added the sides along with the back and kept dropping stitches because of no room. The added length has made it much easier for her and she is getting much more done. These are wonderful for people who struggle with straight needles due to muscle or joint issues. Allows them to continue working on projects they love taking away much of the frustration and struggles that were facing.5Beware! All Knitting Needles Are Not Equal!I love Clover bamboo knitting needles and rarely knit with anything else. I purchased this 48" long Size 6 needle from Amazon because the sweater I am knitting "grew" to the point that the Size 6 36" long circular needle I had it on would not accommodate all the stitches, and because I could not find one this size in my local yarn store. But when I took the new one out of the wrapper I could tell the two needles were not the same size. Sure enough, the needle I was replacing was 4.00 millimeters in diameter, and the new one was 4.25 mm. However, both are labeled Size 6. A little research revealed that a Japanese Size 6 needle is 4.25 mm and a US Size 6, like all of my other Size 6 needles, is 4.00 mm. Since Clover bamboo needles are made in Japan, I suppose it is reasonable to expect them to be made to Japanese standards. The slight difference in needle size did not make a difference to my project, but to some knitting projects, it might. Be aware!4Great knitting needles.I've had these knitting needles for years. I haven't had any issues with them coming apart. I've knitted several things with these needles. I've ditched straight needles since buying these. The cord is still on the curly end even after all these years. If it bothers you, I've read letting the cord soak in warm water will straighten it out.5Perfect for what I wantedGreat quality, just remember that these needles are relatively delicate. Make sure you know what size you're looking for, and the length of the loop is great for small blankets. I'm using medium wieght acrylic with them and they're doing great.4Size zeros seem to come apart quicklySo let me begin by saying I have many covert bamboo needles and I love them! Great, flexible cable and nice warm wood needles with fairly sharp tips. However, I have purchased these size 0 needles twice now and had problems both times with the needles coming completely loose from their shafts. The first time they came loose after two months. This second set has lasted me almost exactly one year. I've had my other needles for much longer and I feel like a one year life span is not good enough for the price!1Wonderful metal free bamboo needlesI love all the Takumi knitting needles (except for the very small ones) because they are free of metal. I really dislike the feeling of metal on my skin, and the takumi line don't have any (again except for the very small ones, 2.75 mm and below). I also like that they are bamboo, not only because it is a renewable material and therefor environmentally conscious, but also because I like that the stitches don't slide as easily as on metal or acrylic needles so I don't have to worry about dropped stitches nearly as much! Occasionally, I have been unhappy with the ones I got from smaller third party sellers, because they were the older versions of this knitting needle - with more blunted tips, and in a thick plastic package with no paper insert. But for the most part, ordering these off Amazon has been great.5Happy customerVery happy with these circulars. I am a Takumi long time fan. Had been working on knitting large circular blanket and was scrunched up toward the end, but after transferring the project to these needles with the extra long length the project was much easier to handle. The yarn just glides easily over the bamboo/plastic connection. Because I was already most of the way through the project, I didn't think about warming the circulars to relax the coiling of the plastic. Thankfully the weight of the project helped keep the circulars from coiling too much.5worth the extra $ for needlesGreat to work with. No complaints. Definitely worth the extra $ spent as an upgrade from the more inexpensive metal needles. The difference being in the suppleness of the cord, the smoothness of the joint between needle and cord, and the smoothness of the needle. Grips the yarn better, without getting stuck, it also won't just let the stitches skip off. I know there are some better needles, but these don't disappoint. I love these for magic loop two at a time socks. There is plenty of room on the loop (almost too much) for a pair of men's socks.5Practically UnusableI've tried using all of the methods in the other reviews and the kinks do NOT come out! I thought I could still work with these, but it's very frustrating when your work gets tangled and twisted because of these needles or the needles themselves twist out of your hands at the beginning of the row because the line is so kinked. This saddens me because I love their other needles, but I'm just not willing to fight these anymore.1It's just annoying. PlusI'm new to knitting and crochet so this is my first time using wooden needles - I'm not a fan. The bamboo catches the yarn so much that you have to slide each stitch off one by one while shoving the newer stitches closer at the same time. They're just annoying. Plus, I'm worried they're snagging the tiny fibers of the yarn and making it less sleek. Maybe wood/bamboo is good for newbies just starting out so the yarn doesn't slip but they're a hassle in my opinion. I'm gonna give them one last shot on a throw blanket but I'm not holding my breath on the success I'll have - or the amount of patience I'll have either.2Does all the things you need a circular needle to do Not sure what to say about this. It does all the things I need a circular knitting needle to do, and it's 48 inches. I'm now knitting my third project on it, and the cable has relaxed and the joins are fine. The needles themselves are smooth and the yarn passes over them without catching. It's a cromulent needle, and I'm not aware of any that have a longer cable. 5
