Perfect for a BIG paper pieced block.
I have the 6 and 12 inch Add-A-Quarter rulers already - used them many times. These Add-A-Quarter rulers are all perfect for doing paper pieced blocks. I had no idea they made an 18 inch Add-A-Quarter Ruler. I'm making a Judy Neimeyer quilt and need this length. Whew - BIG - but I am really glad I can get this length.
5This is so great for my paper piecing quilting
This is so great for my paper piecing quilting. It makes cutting excess fabric a breeze and I always get the exact seam allowance that I need! It you're going to be doing any paper piecing, I highly recommend getting this ruler! The picture I attached is of a quilt block made using this ruler. It's not the most intricate block done, but the yellow fabric is just thin enough that you can see the excess fabric behind the block and you can see how nice and straight and even it is. And it's all because of this ruler!
5If you want a tapered edge for paper piecing, get the AAQ Plus.
I bought this to replace my much used Add-A-Quarter PLUS without realizing there was a difference between the Add-A-Quarter ("AAQ") and the Add-A-Quarter PLUS. The Plus has one tapered edge to help fold back foundation paper while paper piecing, as well as the add-a-quarter feature. This ruler does have the add-a-quarter feature, which is still quite useful for quilting, but no tapered edge. It is sturdy and easy to use. For paper piecing, however, I would highly recommend the Plus.
3Useful for larger size foundation paper-piecing
Great for larger pieces of foundation paper-piecing quilt block trimming. Quarter-inch "lipped" edge snugs against the seam line and allows you to trim off a neat quarter inch before pressing seams.
5Durable transparent ruler
This ruler is good use for paper piecing and a reference for 1/4 inch marking when sewing. It is transparent yellow for easy marking or measuring. The smaller 6"ruler would work better for smaller jobs.
5Valuable tool used in art of paper piecing!
This add-a-quarter ruler is used in paperpiecing quilting technique. It is veritably invaluable in accuracy with paper piecing. Online videos can introduce you to this amazing way of building an image that is perfection in fabric. The item arrived nicely packaged, on time and as promised. I would highly recommend owning this ruler and the art of paper piecing.
5Great Product, Would Recommend
I recently discovered paper-piecing and this product has been an integral part of my success in piecing together my Violet Craft pattern. It does its job well. I only wish I had ordered the Add-A-Quarter Plus for that extra edge. But I love this product and would recommend it to anyone working on paper-piecing.
5So much handier than I expected!
I just started paper piecing and took a class to do so where they required this ruler. I didn't think it would be helpful but I was wrong! So handy! You use it to trim the fabric on the pattern quickly and leaving the proper seam allowance. My only complaint is that the ruler isn't every wide so you have to be quite alert to make sure you don't put your fingers in the way of your rotary cutter. I've used it many, many times at home now and I'd highly recommend it!
4Why did I wait?!
The best darn thing you didn't know you needed. No more wasting time squinting at a slippery ruler, trying to get that perfect 1/4 inch seam. I flew through piecing a paper-pieced snowflake. I like the longer 12 inch length, but I'm now thinking the 6 inch would be plenty for most projects. An inexpensive and very useful tool for your quilting toolbox, not another expensive gimmick.
5Exactly as described!!
This was my wife's purchase. She bought it as part of her learning-to-quilt supplies as she tested paper piecing. According to her - it worked perfectly. Each seam now boasts of exact quarter inch measurements. The thickened edge of the ruler fits against the folded paper/fabric and presents exact measurement for trimming. She bought both the 6" and 12", but believes the 6" would serve her purposes for a long time before needing the other. As most quilters have said again and again - you never have too many rulers.
