Customer Reviews
Great CD only if you saw the movie.Great CD only if you saw the movie.5Great soundtrackThe CD arrived early. This soundtrack for the movie includes some extra songs which adds to the enjoyment. I'm glad I got it.5excellent soundtrack to a very good movieI agree with others that this is a great soundtrack, both the originals that T. Bone Burnett and Stephen Bruton created, and the classics that they included. Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell were much better than I would have expected as country singers, and Fallin' & Flyin' was/is a great song. I liked the movie a lot and thought the story was good and the characters were great, but what I didn't expect was that I would end up thinking that the movie ultimately was great because it was about music -- and how much it affects us and moves us and has meaning for us. The soundtrack reflects that, even including the a cappella version of Billy Joe Shaver's Live Forever by Robert Duvall -- a touching song and a touching rendition of it. I got the MP3 version and was glad that it had both versions of Fallin' & Flyin' -- the Jeff Bridges solo version and the Bridges/Colin Farrell duet. The track list for the deluxe CD doesn't list the solo version but I'm told that that is a typo and that the CD does actually include both versions. I hope so. It should. It's a great song; I wish it were longer.5Old True Classic Country - I Hate Country PopMy wife is a Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flats (country? really?)fan. I can't stand pop-country...actually much of it is just pop with country back tones or a fiddle to make them look like country.Give me Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Waylon, Buck, early Willie, and especially Dwight Yoakum any time over that so called country. Give me some vocal twang and slide guitar! I can mention many others in the early 90's when country experienced a revival that was true to country/blues roots and not playing pop/rock. Think "Neon Sign" by Brooks&Dunn or "Past The Point of Rescue" by Hal Ketchum. The one person who stands out on American Idol is Scotty. He is combination of Waylon and Trace Adkins. Listen closely. Scotty is pure to his roots and will be a big country star if he gets the right songs and producer. No, he doesn't need a hat.The movie and soundtrack of "Crazy Heart" truly wants to make me "cry in my beer"...haha. Love it!5great western musicNever knew he could sing like this. Great western songs to relax to.5Great soundtrack album! This is a fantastic soundtrack album with a mix of cuts from the movie and some great country classics. The highlight is Ryan Bingham's OSCAR winning "title" track 'The Weary Kind'. The great surprises are the well done versions of songs by actors Colin Farrell and Jeff Bridges. Farrell might be the better singer of the two, but Bridges brings a wonderful interpretation to his tracks, really showcasing the depth of his Oscar winning performance as Bad Blake. I bought the CD because I loved the film, but any fan of classic country music would enjoy this collection.5Fun EclecticMixThis album reminds of me of listening to a home-mixed CD made for you on your birthday by your best friend. Jeff Bridges' raw voice sounds like that of an old time country singer, before country music was affected by the advent of electronic keyboards and slick merchandising. The lyrics of all the songs are eminently understandable, singable, and pithy. I love it that the album contains a sprinkling of originally recorded country classics themed to fit the subject of the movie, including the delectable "Mal Hombre." And call me sentimental, but I never tire of Jeff's solo rendition of "Funny How Fallin' Feels Like Flyin." Mal hombre, indeed.5Crazy Heart SoundtrackA great variety of songs and artists on this soundtrack. Some popular and some obscure. All great! If you loved the movie, and I don't know anybody who didn't, you'll love this album. Some of the same songs are repeated by different artists on the album, but that's ok! I only wish Jeff would have been the one to sing The Weary Kind, not that I didn't like Ryan Bingham's version, because I did, but I would have preferred Jeff singing it. My favorite Jeff Bridges track is Brand New Angel. I also really like Somebody Else and Fallin' and Flyin'. If you're a Buck Owens fan, you'll love his classic Hello Trouble, along with Waylon signing Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way. Other great tunes added to this mix include Once A Gambler by the great Bluesman, Lightnin' Hopkins, If I Needed You by Towns Van Zant, a prolific songwriter, Sam Phillips with Reflecting Light and The Louvin Brothers with My Baby's Gone. A great collection of songs that added so much to the success of Crazy Heart. A must own!5Pretty good, but I skip the Lucinda Williams track.I ve got a soft spot for Jeff Bridges. I liked the movie and the soundtrack. The only disappointment is a track by Lucinda Williams, whom I ordinarily like very much, but this one, IMO, is a dud.4What's not to like?If you liked the movie, like country and like "The Dude," then this one's for you.5
