Customer Reviews

Great starter kitIt makes me so sad to see that the price jumped up. When I bought it a year ago, the set only cost me $36. I wanted to buy a set as a gift for my sister in law who also is interested in knitting, but saw that they are now listed for $54.For a $36 dollar set, they re absolutely phenomenal. Having a variety is so handy when you re using different yarn weights and need to change needle sizes to get the correct gauge. They hold on your stitches pretty well so you will have no issues with loops slipping off. I also really like the sturdy case that houses the needles and cords. As a $54 dollar set, I think they could be better. The cords are very stiff and sometimes twist off when you re knitting. The joints catch your loops so you constantly need to stop to adjust your stitches.Overall, because I bought it at a price that I m satisfied with, I m very happy with my product. I hope that it will drop down again so I can purchase another set.5BETTER THAN EXPECTEDI bought these on the recommendation of a friend who has a very old set, but, I wasn't sure if I would like the plastic needles or not. Was I surprised! I really like the needles and the connections between the cords are tight and don't come apart. On a rare occasion, the yarn gets caught on a connection, but, I believe that's because of the particular yarn I am using (it has a silky strand running through it). Otherwise, everything is great. It's especially nice to be able to make different lengths of cords for different size projects.5Denise Needlea are the best....I'm seriousDenise interchangeable may appear to look cheap compared to a set of some steel interchangeable needles with sleek cables, but let me tell you....I have both and I will forever use my denise..here's why...They do not come apart in the middle of your work! I was using another set of an expensive brand and the needle came away from the cable in the middle of my work! Denise needles are bright and colorful...smooth, the cables dont kink up or twist. If color is important to you, you can mix and match colors of cables and needles. They're neat and orderly. There is not one negative thing to say about the Denise brand5A perfect set of knitting needles to take and use anywhere!I LOVE THESE NEEDLES!!! This is my first set of needles so maybe I'm missing something but for me these are absolutely perfect. They come in a great variety of sizes and are super easy to snap on and off the cords included while almost never falling off (this happened once to me while I was fiddling with a weird stitch. But only once in almost a year of near daily use). The cords also come in a nice variety of lengths so you can easily choose the right size for your project. I especially like that you can take a pair of needles off an unfinished project to use on another one without compromising the first one. The case they come in is pretty durable and I've taken it with me lots of places with no issues. The fact that they are circular needles means it is much harder to lose one needle and much easier to transport anywhere without a fuss. They are plastic and pretty blunt as well so I'm not worried about them stabbing through bags or anything. When I bought them I think it came out to like 5-8 dollars per pair of needles, not including the cords and the little extras it came with. I think that's an absolutely fair price. I am an avid knitter and use these almost daily and have barely had any problems. The only problems I've had with this are that the smallest pair of needles bends a little bit if you're knitting very tightly, and if you twist your work around just right the needle may twist off the cord. It's very very easy to overlook these problems though. I had to think very hard to remember if I had actually had any problems with these. I would highly recommend these to anyone who wants a set of versatile, easy to use, and easy to transport knitting needles. This is a nice big set of great needles and cords that could easily have you set for life. These are absolutely worth buying, especially if you want to knock out getting a bunch of different sizes in one go. The kind that I got is all different colors (which I prefer) but you can get ones that are all the same color as well.5Last set of needles You'll Ever Need extremely versatileI previously had Denise interchangeable crochet hooks that you use for Tunisian crochet. They are a great product also. When I started to knit I decided to get a set of interchangeable needles that were bamboo. I didn't like those very much because the needles had too much grab. So then I thought I'll get a set of metal interchangeable needles. But the yarn slid around too easily. So finally I broke down and decided to get a set of Denise interchangeable needles and not surprisingly I'm super happy with them. The yard moves really well on them and has just enough grab. The set is super awesome because you can make your cable almost as long as you would ever need. And you can also use the needles without a cable as just regular needles. So this set is not just for connected needles. It's incredibly versatile.5The attachment of extenders to hooks is outstanding!I have been looking for good hooks for Tunisian crochet to make large items such as lap robes and shawls for hospice and nursing homes. The best I had found so far were bamboo with plastic tubing extensions, but they don't come big enough. I like to use a 17 hook with knitting worsted weight yarn. This results in a fabric that is light and warm - seems to feel like thermal fabric. I need about 20" to hold all the stitches.I do need to use a paper clip to attach the extenders to begin with, but with use they loosen up. But, they do lock in place well.My only complaint is that the hooks are not quite long enough. A standard crochet hook is 6" long - These are 4 1/2" from tip to taper. I am concerned that the weight of the stitches, held by the last 3 fingers on the right hand holding the hook putting stress on the attachment mechanism.I'm a knitter, not a crocheter - don't like to crochet and couldn't get used to holding the hook like a pen! I like the Tunisian crochet simple stitch. For my purposes, lap robes and shawls, it works well as many of the recipients really need light weight yet warm shawls and lap robes. I had been knitting the same items with knitting worsted and 10 1/2 circular needles - the Tunisian crochet is better and actually uses less yarn for the same yardage.I intend to replace my interchangeable knitting needle set with the set by this manufacturer. I like to make sweaters for children (top down/one piece), but all the kits I have seen and used before use screw on extenders which sometimes strip and have inflexible connectors. The 4 1/2" knitting needle won't be a problem.4Seems low quality for the price...These hooks are smooth, accurately sized, and the cables are flexible but won t curl or tangle. I guess I feel like the hooks could have been metal and the cables and pieces a bit heftier for this price. They are all lightweight plastic so I m worried they will warp or crack over time and with use. For $45 I think the quality should be better. Not sure if I want to return it or not. This set does more hooks than the competitors , however.3A Must Buy!!!!If you are looking for a circular set look no further. I was having trouble finding needles that I really liked. I hate knitting on straight needles because they get stuck on everything. I knit all of my projects on circulars. This set is truly divine. I love the plastic needles. It's not too slippery like a metal needle but there isn't as much give as using a wooden one. This is just the right combination of friction and give. The needles are lightweight and the tube that connects them is superb. It doesn't twist up on itself like the small thin cords seem to do. It stays nice and straight so no more twisted stitches when you are joining in the round. The case that comes with these needles is fantastic. It's like a book and you open it and see all your needles and cords neatly organized. It's amazing. I would highly highly recommend these needles to any level of knitter.5Not your Grandmother's needles!I knit, therefore, I am! I have an odd conglomeration of knitting needles! I prefer wood, but those sets need me to take out a loan! I purchased these so I'd have larger points and shorter cords! While I wish the cords were thinner, I can use them! My only big gripe is that you need a key to tighten the points to the cord and this set does not include one! They say to use a paperclip. Seriously? You're too cheap to include a key? I'm hoping as these are used, the plastic points will get a patina not unlike other needle materials! For the price, it's fine, although they are NOT interchangeable with other sets! You do get what you pay for, sometimes!4Do not hesitate to buy these, or even buy one size test needle set.I transferred my current project onto these. Wonderful! No fighting with a cord that has a firm memory...and metal or plastic tips that have no give. My hands and wrists are thanking me already. However, if you find that you are fighting with these cords, then attach another section to make it longer. It's working with a cord that is too short that gives me fits. I do not like working with straight needles...too long, too stiff, catch on my clothes and everything else. Hard to store.(12-10)I got bored with one project and wanted to use that cord and needles. No need to knit off to something else, just add a connector, the cord you want to transfer it to...put an end cap on, pull it through and unfasten the connector and cord you want to use, put another end cap on the other end...and I laid aside that project. EASY.And I love having all I need in one container. If I should need to use smaller than #5 circular needles for a project, I have plenty of other brands all in one circulars in 4, 3, 2, 1..I purchased this primary colored set from BIC marketplace seller for a fabulous price ($40.20) with free shipping. Watch for prices to drop and get your complete set.Update 12-9-14: Some reviews on Amazon regarding Denise Interchangeables have stated the cording is too large diameter and drags. It is the same mm as #5 needle at the connection and just a tad smaller on the actual cord. #5 is the smallest needle in the set. Works for me.I'm a fairly new knitter and don't ever aspire to holding the record in speed knitting. I knit with the yarn held in my left hand (as with crochet) and can make a knit or purl stitch no matter which way the loop is slanting on the needle.I understand most books teach one method to knit or purl, but if you discover many ways to make a stitch, you are golden. See videos for Russian Speed Knitting on you tube or at the Russian Speed Knitting dot com. As Maggie Righetti writes in Knitting in Plain English, knit and purl are simply the front and back of the same stitch. She is also the author that gave me the idea to work with circulars instead of straights whenever possible....which for me is all of the time so far.Take the mystery out of knitting through the front or back of the right leaning front loop; or the front or back of the right leaning back loop. Or intentionally twist them for a tighter cloth..which is what I was doing before I learned how the stitch is made...and how it opens up naturally if you stitch with the lean.5
