Customer Reviews

BeautifulI've done cross stitch before but this was my first big project and the first one I've ever actually finished. The directions were easy to follow. The only part I don't like is that the pattern leaves empty spaces with no stitching that are supposed to be the white parts and to me, it looked unfinished. I went to Wal-Mart and bought some "snow-white" dmc threads to fill in and it looks SO nice.I followed some youtube videos on how to assemble the stocking once finished and was able to sew mine together with a sewing machine (first time using one).I used flannel for the backing and cotton for the liner. I can't wait to start the next one! Also, it took me about 4 months to finish. Not too bad considering I'm a full-time student, work full-time and have a crazy 15 month old harassing me while I tried to work on it!The only thing I would do differently is not put the outline in black around the piece. I think it would've looked better without it.5Beautiful Kit!This is a great stocking kit! The colors are bright and beautiful, and the design is very pretty. Great for a person who likes Christmas, but doesn't need the overwhelming Christmas present/Santa feeling that other stockings have! It is a relatively easy kit to complete, mainly half and cross stitches. The Aida Cloth is a good size that makes for easy sewing. Unlike other kits, I found that there was enough thread to complete the project. The new format of glueing thread to the cardboard is a bit irritating, but it's easily solvable by removing all thread from the cardboard & placing each color in a Ziploc bag. Great Christmas gift for a family member!5Dimension counted cross stitch kits are great! This stocking will be my 18th stocking since 2013, will only use Dimensions for stockings.I love how the floss comes already sorted. The key for the chart needs to come on its own sheet, always have to make a copy of it because it is on the other side of the chart.5Beautiful Christmas StockingI finally finished putting the whole stocking together and absolutely love the design! It took me a while to make (since I work a lot) and I was a little intimidated about sewing it all together, but I watched a few online videos and it came out better than I expected :-DMaking the cross stitch design was very straight forward and easy (but I've been cross stitching for over 15 years). It comes out looking beautiful! Some people complain that the thread is now glued onto the swatch that comes in the kit, so to keep the thread organized I fold up each color and then loosely knot it. I also use a single hole punch at the top of each color so that I can put the thread in those holes after I pull it out to keep it all clean and organized. One thing that is disappointing is that they just give you a felt back to finish the stocking with, which is sub-par for this type of work. Instead of using just that, I went to a local fabric store and got some light blue velvet for the back of the stocking and some red satin to use as a liner. You will need a sewing machine and some basic sewing skills to finish the stocking. I am not very experienced at using the machine, so I used a few extra bits of fabric to get the right tension for the sewing. I also used the felt that they included in the kit by spraying an adhesive to the felt and then laying it onto the back of the velvet to add a bit of extra support. After watching a bunch of videos online, I finally got my stocking put together and it is now hanging proudly in my apartment :D5Great giftI've never done cross stitching before, but I decided to purchase this kit and make a stocking for my mom (which only seemed fair, since she made one for me and each of my siblings when we were infants). It was a lot. of. work. It took me over a year to finish the stocking, but recognize that I'm a perfectionist and re-did weeks of work if I realized I made a mistake somewhere. I finished the stocking though and was able to give it to my mom as a special gift! I really appreciate that the kit made this as easy as possible and included everything I needed in order to complete this gift (except for a hoop).5Finished by Christmas!Took about 5 months in my spare time but I finished by Christmas for my granddaughter. Looks lovely and rich. I wouldn't say this is for beginners but the intermediate to experienced should find it enjoyable. I did substitute better material for the felt given in the kit- it just didn't feel like it would hold up. Also I lined the entire stocking with a Christmas patterned fabric- that way the back of the stitching is protected from any snags or anything sticky that may be put in the stocking.5Easy to follow, but needed better backing and extra string for backgroundThis was my first cross stitch and it went great; design was easy to follow and I had more than enough string for each color provided. Two major drawbacks: one, the felt included for the back was terrible and did not match the quality of the completed design. I went to a fabric store and got batting and cloth for the inside and back instead. Second, the grey aida cloth is meant to act as the background for some of the sky and snow. While this is common in cross stitch, it looked under finished for a project of this quality, so I bought some DMC thread in the color of the cloth and filled it in instead. For beginners, I would say leave plenty of time! I took 6 months to complete in time for Christmas.1st picture: design partially completed. Sky to the left of the sled is the un-filled aida cloth I later filled in.2nd picture: completed stocking ready to be hung on the mantel!4First stocking I made!I did the candy cane Santa stocking for my husband, and it's BEAUTIFUL! It was delivered really quickly, and I finished it in 3 months. I did decide to go with a nice dark green velvet for the backing, as the felt provided, I felt, would make a nicer lining for the inside of the stocking. I can't wait to hang it in my home and start the one I bought for myself!5Beautiful and Nicely OrganizedThis stocking is lovely, and the kit is well organized. I love that the floss comes pre-sorted. The colors are vibrant, and the aida cloth is sturdy. This is a long project, but not particularly difficult--there is very little blending of floss, and only cross, half cross and backstitch included in the pattern. I did modify the pattern by using quarter and three quarter cross stitches to smooth out the lines a bit. The only issue I had was that the plan comes in three parts, and it isn't clear where the overlap is. Once I figured out where the pattern overlapped, I took a highlighter and put lines across the pattern so I didn't end up stitching the lines twice. I do like that the plans are big and detailed, I just wish they had indicated the overlap at the beginning. Definitely worth the effort!5Beautiful ProjectThis was my very first cross-stitch project. It is not for the faint of heart. I personally did not find it to be very challenging, but others may think differently. The stocking took me about 12 months to finish with quite a few hefty breaks between start to finish.I did not follow the backing instructions using the provided felt, instead I used interfacing to seal the stitches, and found navy blue quilted fabric to make it sturdier. The final product was just gorgeous and my Grandma LOVED it calling it a timeless gift destined to be an heirloom. I highly recommend doing this for yourself or for a loved one.5
