    Mixed ReviewFirst, I have tried to communicate with the Dimensions company with no luck. Email is not correct and Wilton address they give does not get to their company. Thus, I will communicate my experience here rather than to the company, directly. I purchased the stocking to make as a gift. I have made 9 previous stockings, but with kits from two different companies. I liked the design but found the following problems with the kit: needles included with the kit were not the correct size for the number of floss strands recommended (in some cases), the small, gold stars are just too small to stitch (I had to fabric glue the smaller ones), the yellow felt for the stars was just too thin and difficult to negotiate, let alonetry to stitch to the stocking. On the plus side, the directions were quite easy to follow and thus took less time than some kits I had completed in the past. I finished the stocking. I was pleased with the results (except for the little stars!). I did have to buy more white floss and different needles in order to complete the project.3Doable project for the crafty-impairedI am not a crafty person. I want to be, but it does not come naturally to me. A kit like this is perfect for me or for any beginning level crafter-- I would have loved to work on something like this in middle school. The kit pieces look almost exactly like the pictures. The colors are just as bright. The felt is thin, but not flimsy. They give you a lot of extra thread and batting, which is great if you are concerned about making mistakes. So far I have only sewed the red bird, but it looks fantastic. The directions are clear and easy to follow, and there are diagrams explaining each type of stitch. I would definitely recommend this product, and I'm thinking of getting a few other kits from this company as well.5Terrible qualityI have done several Bucilla stockings, and for some colors the felt can be iffy, but for this one the felt was way too thin. I ended up throwing it away after barely getting started. The white felt is transparent (the top requests a double layer of white over the blue, so they know how bad it is), and it stretches badly. I was afraid I was going to rip the tiny pieces in half just by beading them. The top piece we did attach had to be trimmed by 1/4 on either side. I was terrified of trying to do the rest of it, so I cut my losses, kept the floss, and tossed the rest (including the professional monogramming I had done before assembly) into the trash can.1Missing piecesThis is a CRAFT KIT not a premade ready to hang garland. The picture is of cute, colorful stockings with a homemade feel. They look homemade because you make it! I ordered two because I was using them for staff at work and wanted 50. I spent about 10 hours constructing only to find I was missing pieces for 5 stockings!!! Plenty of other pieces, string, backs, cuffs, just missing 5 fronts. Options are to ship it back for refund, well after constructing the whole thing that isn't really an option. Basic stitch, easy enough project, but I had staff unsure of process after reading directions. Despite time consumed on an unplanned craft, this would be a 5 star review on the cute end product the garland makes, however, missing pieces don't allow it to be used as an advent calendar, and 45 aren't enough for intended staff stockings. Very disappointed.2The company has to improve their quality of print and thickness of felt.I have made several Xmas stockings. The majority of them have been Bucilla brand stockings.Pros: The design is cute and the price was right that s why the 2 stars.Cons:1. The felt is too thin. I was afraid I would rip a hole in the pieces.2. With the little stars I had to use fabric glue, because they were too fragile to appliqu on. I did the sequins on the little stars first and once the glue dried I went through the stocking and sequins once again to secure them.3. The pieces don t line up well with the print on the stocking. I ve had to maneuver the pieces in place and, again, I was afraid of ripping the felt. The face has been extremely difficult.4. On the cheeks the felt is thin. The face piece is printed so that if they were embroidered for sure the edges would be torn. I made templates with paper (hold the face felt piece up to window and place paper over it and draw the outlines of the cheeks). I then used some pink felt I had. Oh yeah the face is a light pink, not flesh color. I guess it works ok. I was just a little surprised with it being pink.A) I did like the design. It has you quilt the beard.I m still working on it. Geesh! I ll post pics when I m done.I do NOT recommend.2If you're good enough to use this kit, you don't need this kitWell, if you're really set up for sewing, meaning, you've got extra needles and sewing is easy for you, this is maybe great.My son is 8 and loves to sew. He couldn't begin to do this. The thread is very thick, even for the needle provided. Then, we broke that needle on about the twelfth stitch. Yup, if you miss one of the pre-punched holes, the thread won't go through, so you end up using adult finger strength and ... bye-bye needle. I've never broken a needle before, so take whatever you like from that.They're cute, but instead of a fun family evening of decoration making, we had tears, frustration and my son wasn't happy either.3Not as good as other kits have beenThe body of the stocking, green, is a flimsy felt, very little body to it and I have to be careful not to stretch it as I sew. I loved the design, which is why I bought it. The other felts have felt ok. The instructions are not very clear, ie: never says how many strains of a color to use, so I have to improvise. Not happy with the instruction , not clear and I have to keep referring to the picture. WOn't buy this brand again, even if its cheaper.3Cute ornamentsI wanted ornaments that were made of cloth so my 12 mo old could pull them off the tree and I wouldn't have to worry about them breaking! These were so cute that I thought I would give them a try. They were really easy to put together and they look so cute on my tree! Each felt piece has holes pre-punched in them for ease of sewing but sometimes the holes don't match up or aren't there. For example, for the white thread pattern on the blue scarf, there are no holes so you have to make your own design. This didn't turn out to be a big deal though. Also, the pattern calls for having to do French knots which I am not very good at and it doesn't show you how to do them on the instructions. They give you plenty of thread in case you mess up.5Darling Birdies!This is one of my favorite ornament kits ever. I bought it a couple of years ago in order to make the ornaments as a gift for my sister who loves birds. I purchased this kit again this year so that I can make a set of birdies for my own tree this year. When I initially worked on them, I found the kit to be complete; I thought the instructions were easy to understand; and I thought the ornaments were really easy to make. They do have a bit of detail and therefore do take some time. Don't buy this kit if you are looking for a set of ornaments you can complete in a single afternoon. But if you enjoy embroidery and needlework as I do, and if you have several afternoons to work on them, then I think you will be happy you decided on this one. The ornaments turned out even cuter than in the photo and I had fun making them. Good luck and enjoy!5cute but difficult threadThis stocking turned out very adorable and my daughter loves it for her newborn son. However, they should have included a needle threader. The size of the thread vs the size of the hole in the needle....so hard to thread it!! Also, with the pre-punched holes in the felt, sometimes the knot pulls right through necessitating very large knots at the end of the thread. I'm an average crafter and this took me 7 hours to complete. I don't think it would be appropriate for a child to try to do. Too frustrating. Maybe a teenager, though.4
