The one drawback is that I cannot write on them with my gel pens, the only style I use. I roll up my thread on them and store away in my case. I love the fact that these can be written on. I write the # of the thread on the top left side. On the plastic ones, which I don't like, you have to place a sticker on them which can peel off over time.
