Works well for my project.I used these dowels to make a shelf to hold my resin paintings flat. I got the 1/4 pack. They drop a little when a 3lb canvas is on them, but they seem to be holding. I d probably use the larger size next time.5Perfect for Assembling wedding cakesThese are perfect and of excellent quality. I purchased these to use as stands for a wedding cake I assembled and this length is perfect, because it gives you plenty of room to play with when determining what sizes to cut them into. Super grateful I went with this product and the company has provided me with endless quality customer service.5These are beautiful dowels and just what we needed!Excellent quality dowels with a smooth finish. We made 'bell wands' for my daughter's wedding. We needed something that didn't require cleanup by the janitor or the groundskeeper (no rice or birdseed please!) and we borrowed this idea from Pinterest. Two bells (assorted sizes) tied with ribbon and a dab of hot glue... voila! When the bride and groom left the reception they ran through a tunnel of folks all jingling the wands. Such a happy sound! Many folks wanted to take home extra wands for their kiddos and grandkiddos. We made all 250 dowels into wands and each one was perfect. We even got 3 bonus dowels!5Size consistency between batches isn't as expected.I made a rack that is 2 sheets of peg board with some space between them and use the dowels to make columns to put things in. I first got a dowel from the local hardware store to make sure 1/4" would go through the holes easily and it worked great but it was much cheaper to order these in bulk than to buy them individually at the hardware store.The first batch of 50 that I ordered worked great as well, but I needed a lot more than I realized I would so I ordered a second batch. The second batch barely fits through the holes and I often have to use a hammer to tap on them lightly to get them to go through the second sheet of peg board.If you're thinking maybe I just don't have them lined up as well as the originals, I can take the original ones and put them in place of the new ones and they work fine and the news ones in place of the old ones and they are super tight.For what they are - wooden dowels - they typically work great. But the consistency between batches (my second batch actually possibly being just a little bigger around than it's supposed to be), I am a bit disappointed in.4Solid seller, good product and fast delivery.These are perfect little pencil size dowels that you can actually sharpen to a point on the ends with a pencil sharpener if you need, shavings etc. useful for different projects and needs around the house and campsite . Packaging was solid and these were delivered very fast . Will definitely buy from Woodpeckers again in the future .5Woodpeckers Wooden Dowel RodsI bought the 1/4" sticks. They are a great value. They are good quality; no splintering; very smooth, finished wood for painting and use in crafts. I made topiary pieces by gluing the rods to artificial green balls and inserting into foam in a small flower pot with moss and other greens. I'm very pleased with this purchase; recommend these rods to crafters.5Consistent.A nice bundle of 1/4" dowels. I miked about 5% and they were within 0.005" of 0.25". A couple of them had a pretty good wave in them but most were straight. A good value if you need a bunch of dowels. Update: I've used about 40 of the dowels from this pack and they have all been remarkably consistent. Very few rejected for being too big or too small. Nice and straight too.5These are amazing! Note: Personal experience suggests ~ The best wayfor most craftsmen to buy these good dowels is in packs of 100 and 12" long.Most of you weekend sawyers ~ don't need 3 feet long dowels ~ and why have tobother with a long 3' spear of wood when you only need to cutoff a short piece of dowel for your usual repair or project? Price is about the same for the 12" size dowels. And they are super handy for mixing epoxy...To do so: I trim the dowel flat on (both sides) of thelast 2 inches of the dowel good mixing stick for epoxy orsmall cans of paint or stain. Re-use by wiping clean with a rag. I think my wife may have purloineda few of these 12" dowels for use ashouseplant support sticks. "Skip" -=iii=05These are not 1/4" - they're 5/16" and that little bit of a difference made a project so much more difficult!As you can see, these dowels are advertised as 1/4" x 18"...but they're really 5/16" x 18" and they're not compatible with the pretty little finials that I also bought to help finish my project (a crochet tree for my granddaughter).. I'm really disappointed! Now it's back to square one and a lot more work involved - I'll have to sand the ends down to "force fit" them with the finials.3
