I am impressed with this little gadget. 5Easy to useThis item makes hemming jeans much easier.5Great product, but wish it had a few thickness options.This is great for thick seams, but is a bit too large for smaller seams. I would give it a 5 star if only there were a 3 pack of varying thicknesses. If you're using lighter weight denims or other materials you may just be better off butting package of needles which are slightly thinner than the Jean-a-majig. If you've got 8oz or heavier this is the item to use go go over the "hump" as it were.4Perfect for sewing over heavy and uneven seamsI ordered this because I make snack bags that have two layers of fabric and two layers of vinyl. At the seams, it's hard for my feet to get a clean line over the seam without skipping or jogging. I sell these bags, so I needed a more professional finish.I learned about these by watching some Jean-making tutorials. They work really well. It made the fabric rise so high my needle holding screw hit it and was unable to proceed all the way down. boo.1Neat Gadget found on AmazonThis is a pretty neat little gadget. I read the directions a few times. Went to the store and bought a "jeans needle" and "jeans thread" (you will need a heavy duty needle and heavy duty thread). My jean hems came out perfectly even and looked great. The only thing to remember is when you come up to the thick portion put the jean a ma jig behind the foot, use the sewing machine wheel by hand for the first three or four stitches and when it's ready to come down off of the thick seam the gadget goes in front of the foot till you're entirely off the seam. Also, when moving the gadget make sure needle is in a down position so material doesn't move around.5What a brilliant invention. Love my Jean-A-Ma-Jig for going over the heavy seams in jeans and I also use it with other quilting sandwich projects that are thick enough that I worry about jamming my needle. What a brilliant invention. 5Happy with this purchasePerfect to use when working on jeans. This was suggested to me by amazon. It s a handy little tool. Especially on pressor feet that don t have the bottom on the back to self level. I was always breaking needles while trying to mend my husbands jeans. Now the Jean-A-Ma-Jig solved that problem. 5
