Customer Reviews

These are my new favoritesI bought these to replace a Fender set that had come apart. The lock did not fail, but the ball end you pull to unlock the strap had unscrewed itself and fallen off. There was nothing left to pull the pin and unlock the strap. I had to use a air powered cut off wheel to get it loose. UGH! Anyway, the Ernie Ball design sits flat and are easier to remove/install the strap. We'll see about longevity, but I like this design better so far. I also like them better than the Schaller locks because the Schaller's are the same pin design as Fenders. The small ball end can be difficult to pull far enough out to remove the strap, especially with the guitar hanging on your shoulder and weight on the locks.. These Ernie Ball locks are easy to pinch to remove.5Simple. Works. Not much to it.I bought these mainly because they're a design I prefer. And also because I put them on an Ernie Ball guitar. I normally wouldn't have paid as much for these but they're going on a $1500 guitar, so in comparison, not a big deal.Installation was pretty straight forward, but I can see how different makes/models of guitar would have different screw sizes where installation might be an issue.Operation is straightforward as well. Push in the 2 side buttons and you're biz. HOWEVER, make sure that both sides engage by giving a tug. I had an incident where mine didn't and my guitar hit the stage headstock first. I always double check now but I'm also sure to push the lock in and side buttons in firm. No repeat gaffs or even misfires since that first one.Durability is yet to be seen but quality seems high. I've had these for a few months and taken the strap off dozens of times in that span with only the one incident above. These things do stick out quite a bit and that's definitely a con. I do like any strap can still go on the button without the locks and that's definitely a plus. I forgot my strap for practice once and just grabbed a random one laying around the studio. There are a lot of system where that isn't possible.4Great, but a bit priceyI made the decision to pick one type of strap locks long ago and these are great.Pros:Really easy to useUnquestionable locking. You know whether it's in or not.Really well made.Cons:Price.You can't buy just the guitar-side of the locks if you have one or two straps for many guitars. That is annoying and has made me spend the money on just the female/guitar side, leaving the strap side laying around.Tip: If you play with other folks, you might pick the style they use or vice versa. That way, you can trade straps around without any trouble. This is useful if you want to play their guitar and there's a height difference. It's a minor thing, but still a useful tip, I think.4These are good, and very comparable to the Dunlop locks I've ...I may be biased in my review as I've used another brand of strap locks for quite a number of years. These are good, and very comparable to the Dunlop locks I've used, but a few differences make the two types pretty even. I like the button on these better, as it's easier to use, and still secure. The way these attach to your strap, is very basic and I can see it possibly working itself loose, causring the strap to ride along the lock. For that reason, I gave 4stars, because, I think they could have come up with a better solution to attach the strap to the lock. Overall, I don't expect any failure of the lock, so I would recommend these.4Best strap locks I ve used so far.I was a little skeptical about these at first due to similar styles I ve used like this coming off way too easy. That s not the case with these you actually have to press both buttons on top and bottom at the same time to get them to release which is a huge plus over the Dunlops. These engage very smoothly and have plenty of movement so the strap doesn t feel like it s binding. The bass actually feels more comfortable with them due to it allowing the bass to move freely on the locks. I would definitely recommend trying a set I do not think you will be disappointed. By far the best strap locks I ve used so far, I would highly recommend them .5CheapI bought this for my husband to use with his new Gibson SG , he had it half way screwed in and the head of the screw just broke off and is now STUCK in his guitar !! We have tried EVERYTHING to get this F-ing screw out but no luck. If you use this product i would advise buying different screws that aren't cheap pieces of crap.1Great strap locks - slightly chubby, but greatI have had a couple of different strap locks on my instruments. But I think I like these best for both their efficient and easy clip on and clip off. And for their aesthetic. If I had a complaint, and I really don't, I would say that they are just a tad bit too large. But not so much that I would remove a star from the rating.I like these and I will be replacing my other locks with Ernie Ball locks.5These will not fail fail you!I had Epiphone strap locks on my brand new Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy. I put the strap on and 2 minutes later with my hands elsewhere (not holding the guitar) it came crashing to the floor. There is a finish shattering and I will never forget how pathetic Epiphone and Gibson are for putting out such garbage. These are PHENOMENAL. Nothing you could do accidentally could bring this crashing down in fact it maybe too good at staying on if I had to give it a fault : ) EXTREMELY HAPPY5Some of the best on the marketThese are some of the better guitar strap locks that I have ever worked with. They have a very unique design, low profile and are easy to install. Very exacting installation instructions are included with each set of these Ernie Ball Super guitar locks. I shall include six photographs with my review here. I also created a 6 minute plus Youtube video concerning this product. If you are having problems deciding which guitar straps are the best, just save time and get these. 5 stars for these guitar strap locks.5Great dealFirst off, I own strap locks by Schaller, Dunlop and ernie ball. I have played guitar for 30 years. I started with Schaller, great but pointy so difficult to put instrument down, also if you just want to attach a strap without the locks on almost impossible. Years later Dunlop came out, cheap looking but very simple mechanism. Easy to put guitar down due to the low profile and strap button allows for strap without locks. One button press release system while simple can be problematic if you bump it. The bad is the locks can be difficult to attach to most straps due to the washer/lock that slides on the strap, takes some effort to install. Time moved on, now we come to ernie ball. Wow. This is my third set. I bought the gold set because...get ready...7 bucks no tax free ship from amazon. Schaller 20-30 bucks, Dunlop 15-20 bucks, these, 7 bucks (I paid 20 for the first two sets). But forget about the price. The strap buttons are large enough to use a strap without locks, the locks themselves are heavy gauge and have a perfect finish. The two push buttons to lock unlock are like silk and take two areas to compress and release, unlike Dunlop. Low profile, so easy to put instrument down, and these screw onto your strap so no difficulty with installation. Very simple to install. These are truly THE BEST straplocks on the market today. Oh, Ive also done the van halen thing with steel eyelets, though very secure, not very practicle, but for 70 cents, it works.5
