Customer Reviews

Nice little amplifier. Don't expect too much of it.This is a really nice little amp. Don't expect too much of it. You'll have to experiment with this amp for optimum conditions. Several of us, (fiddle, piano, harmonica, guitars), play for our own amazement in a room about 20 X 14. The guitar and harmonica are the only ones amped. The guitar runs through a Loudbox Mini and the harmonica player uses the this Fender 15 through the mic channel. (There's no comparison between these two amps unless you run pre-amps through the Fender15). The harmonica comes through the mix nicely when the player is paying attention to the proximity of the microphone.Channel 1: This is a dedicated XLR channel with volume-only control. I think I hear just a small amount of reverb built into this channel. Otherwise, the effects on channel 2, (bass, mid, treble, chorus) have no influence here. Volume control on channel 1 has most of its noticeable adjustment on the east side of the knob rotation. There's no numbers to guide you to the sweet spot. And, there's very little noticeable gain in the first 3/4 of the knob. That said, once you've dialed it in, it does produce good dynamic sound. . .through a decent microphone, i.e. Sennheiser 835.Channel 2: This is a dedicated TRS 1/4" (6.3mm) channel. The guitar sounds excellent here and you'll get a great deal more volume and dynamics through this channel than with channel 1. Again, I don't feel there's any comparison with the Loudbox Mini: Loudbox is in a different category altogether unless you start introducing pre-amps and effects to the little Fender15 channels. .I also compared the Fender15 to the BEHRINGER ULTRACOUSTIC AT108 Guitar Amplifier. The Behringer has many more positive reviews and many more answered questions. However, my in-store experience with Behringer amplifiers is that they have a definitive hum to them. Some say it's because of crossed input wires. Others suggest that it has to do with vhf interference. I have no idea. They seem to be nice amps but I've had better experiences with Fender amps and was content to try the this one instead of the Behringer. It's working out just fine.5I love my new fender acusticI love my new fender acustic , smaller tha i thought but really powerfull sound , nice and handy , mic , phones and guitar input , its loud even when you using mic and guitar at the same time , smaller than a fender mustang 1 as you can see and the picture 5Great little packageI essentially use this as an onstage monitor, pointed back at me, with my acoustic electric. I m able to hear myself playing next to the drummer with the volume less than halfway. It s easy to carry, I made an angled amp stand out of scrap 1/8 inch Masonite and it holds it up fine since the amp is so light. I personally don t like the sound of chorus effect, I wish it had a reverb option, or hell, even a gain, but it s there for those who do. I have not tried out the mic channel, but this would be nice for a PA for a small, quiet venue. It is sized nicely, smaller than the 15 watt practice amps available when I started playing 20 years ago. I do not notice any hum or tendency towards a piezo quack as others have noticed. I run my guitars volume about 3/4s5Outstanding Amp for Acoustic GuitarsI was pleased with the Fender Acoustasonic 15 from the moment I pulled it out of the box. You can tell just by holding the unit in your hands that it's a quality piece of equipment. The sturdy case features the added protection of metal corner guards, and a strip of velcro mounted to the backside of the unit keeps the industrial-strength electric cord neatly wound and out of the way when not in use. This amp has been described as both "ultra compact" and "portable," though whether or not you'll agree will depend upon your needs. The dimensions are definitely smallish as it stands just a few inches taller than a foot, and about half as deep with a six-inch speaker. However, there's a lot packed into that little foot print, literally -- it weighs in at a hefty 14 pounds. That should be no problem if you're transporting your amp and instrument by passenger vehicle, but it's probably too heavy for those looking to hand carry it on a bus or subway train. As for the sound -- It's definitely big for such a small package (no surprise to the Fender faithful). For me, the Acoustasonic 15 is everything I need and more a perfect pairing with my Takamine acoustic electric guitar. I mostly play for pleasure, and enjoy using the amp for its chorus effect. Although I don't currently have the need to plug a microphone into it, I appreciate having that option. Also worthy of not is the price, which is very competitive with similar amps. All things considered, this is a great amp for both advanced and intermediate guitarists. However, if this is your first venture into the world of amp, it's important to note that this is intended for use with electric "acoustic guitars," not "electric guitars." There are far better amps for "electric guitars" in this price range.I feel confident in saying I expect this dependable little amp to provide me with many years of play time.5Just What I Needed!I was looking for a small, light amplifier that would work well with my mountain dulcimer, stick dulcimer and various ukuleles. I'm not in "show biz" but from time to time I'm invited to perform at small gatherings, senior centers, neighborhood clubhouse events, etc.Upon the recommendation of a professional musician I purchased this amplifier and I just love it.I think it has a lot of power for its size. I've used it with a microphone at our clubhouse ballroom, which holds about 350 people and it was amazing how well I was heard!I'm very happy with my Fender! Hey ... maybe this 70 year old grandmother WILL consider "Show Biz!" I got the instruments, the enthusiasm, the time ... and a TERRIFIC AMPLIFIER!5Don't buy this unless you *love* the piezo quack.I bought this acoustic guitar amp as a practice/travel amp to use with my Taylor acoustic electric guitar. I was disappointed to find that the piezo "quack" was greatly emphasized by this amp, so much so that I couldn't stand to play my guitar through it. The amp itself doesn't sound bad; it produces a bright, clear tone with no muddying. But it's hard to believe it was intended for use with acoustic guitars, which generally use piezo pickups under the bridge to detect and amplify the sound of the strings. Different amps have different sensitivity to the particular "quack" sound that piezos make, but acoustic guitar amps are usually designed to reduce the presence of those sounds. This one didn't.I ran a few tests to diagnose the problem. First, I dialed back the treble and mid-range, but I had to take them down to zero to dampen the quack and that still only helped a little. I also did some side-by-side comparisons with an amp I already own and a new instrument cable to make sure the problem wasn't on the input side. The same inputs sound great on my current amp and painfully bad on the Fender, so it's got to be the Fender. This amp has lots of 5-star reviews, so the poor performance really surprised me. To be fair, it's possible that the one I received was defective. I did notice that the box had already been opened and sloppily taped shut again, the cord was unwound, and the manual out of its sleeve, so it's highly likely that this unit had already returned once before. I have no way of knowing whether this particular amp was defective because there's no way I'm going to order another one to see if it's any better. I just sent this one back and ordered a more expensive model that I know works very well with my Taylor.1No reverb for vocalsLike everything about it. I have a larger sound system , BUT , I have need for one that I can use in smaller venues ( nursing homes Etc. ) With the addition of a harmonizer foot switch. It is perfect, "for me " Great value for the money and a name you can trust.5Everything You Need in a 15 watt Amp - Try Finding That In Another ProductWell, I bought this for my daughter and had it shipped directly to her so I've not seen it. SHE LOVES IT! I began my own playing with a Fender Twin Reverb and it was awesome, so I had no second thoughts about getting this model for her. Works great for her to play at home. She also does small venues like bookstores and with an input for both the guitar and a microphone, that's another great plus. Finally, it includes a chorus effect which sweetens the sound so another plus.5Good sounding light weight ampNever owned a amp for acoustic guitar before. Intermediate level on electric guitar. My kids gave me a Martin acoustic electric recently and I have been wanting to hear it on a amp made for a acoustic. It sucked on my electric guitar amps.Received amp 2 days ago. I really did not expect much at all and was ready to be disappointed. What a surprise this is a great little amp. Makes my Martin sing now. The eq works good and the chorus is nice. Also at 14 lbs even an old guy like me can carry it up and down the stairs all day. Can't say how loud it might be. Have only had volume about 1/3 of the way up so far playing in the kitchen and it sounded good.I was really expecting an amp like you get with a starter pak and this is NOT that amp at all. Well worth the money for me.5Annoying HUM!Annoying HUM! No matter what Volume setting this amp is set at it has a continuous HUM. Have a Bugera and two(2) LINE6 amp and they do not do this. On the bright side if you raise the volume the hum does not increase. If you are using this for a busy, noisy area at high volume you probably will not notice this. However if you plan to use this as a practice amp in a quiet area this is going to get tiresome. This is my First and Last FENDER Amp I will ever buy. I'll stick to their Guitars (maybe?), since I prefer other guitar brands.1
