    Great for sewing and crafting!! Best product I've purchased!!So far, this is one of my better purchases everrrrrr. Large size mat; I keep it on my craft table top to protect the surface. I did get paint on it once and it wiped right off even when dry. The cutting guidelines are easy to read and placed where you need them. The best part is it doesn't slip around on the table when I'm using it like my old one did. I cut hundreds of squares of deco-mesh fabric with my rotary cutter and it worked perfectly!5Arrived Dirty and too difficult to clean.This mat was wrapped in plastic. I thought that it was to protect the mat but it turns out that it is to protect everything else. The mat arrived very dirty and after spending 10 minutes scrubbing it with different cleaners, I still can't get it clean. GooGone worked a little bit but was going to take an hour to get the entire thing clean. I'm sending it back because I can't use a cutting mat that is filthy.In the photo you will see an outline where the label was. That is the only clean part of this mat.1Nice quality at a great price!Ok so I'm an avid crafter and I just recently got into sewing. Although this would've been nice for crafting I never really thought about getting one until now. This is AMAZING got cutting fabric and it's really good size. It has a dark and light side for darker or lighter fabrics so you can see through to make your cuts. It's not spongey like some self healing mats but I'm ok with it because it's easier to store because it's so thin. I don't have a craft table and use my kitchen table so this is perfect for what I need! Compared to other mats, this is the cheapest I've found at this size! The quality is nice it's not cheap material and I'd definitely recommend! Plus fiskars is a well known company and it comes with a warranty which makes me feel better if anything happens I won't have any problems getting ahold of the company! Again, most DEFINITELY recommend!5Good looking mat but not self-healingI hope Fiskars could improve this mat, since it looks really good, I really like the design but it's not self-healing at all. It is like hard plastic and it has a chemical smell. I don't use it to cut anymore but as a mouse pad. If you really need a self-healing mat look somewhere else. I don't recommend it for heavy duty.3Love itGreat size and $10 cheaper than buying in-store. My mom has the 10x12 version, which I tried using an Xacto knife on. The Xacto knife left a small scratch, so I'd advise against using the mat for that, but it was perfect with my rotary cutter.5Amazing Mat!Allow me to begin by stating that I have NOT owned any other cutting/engineering mat beside this one. As a result of this, I am reviewing this as someone who went from having a bare desk to having this mat.This mat is wonderful and accomplishes the task it initially has set out which is to be used for cutting. I am able to cut on the mat and avoid damaging the desk underneath. However, it is also very effective for quick imperial measurements with the included inline markings.The big one though is that I was soldering one day and accidently dropped the soldering iron on the mat, burning a "hole" in the mat. Little did I realize that once I flipped from the light side to the dark side that the hole was not a hole at all. The dark side of the mat was intact. WOAH! Ever since that day I could officially say I am very happy with this mat.I would also like to mention I am writing this review well over a year after buying the mat. I bought the mat in August of 2015 and it is now January 2017 and I am still happily using this mat on my desk for all my engineering work.5I find the contrast measuring lines difficult.Not the traditional green that many self healing mats are this is black and white and the reverse on the back. I find it distracting though with the contrasting areas. I think that if I need another in the future I will probably go with any solid color. I purchased this because I needed a smaller size mat to fit the top of a cabinet my husband built. Other than that it handles just as any other self healing cutting mat does. I STILL LOVE FISKARS just not this particular mat. I realize that some will find it useful but I use my various tools for truing up and even a smaller mat for the most time. When I use the larger mats it is for cutting multiple layers of fabric and for the length.5Decent mat, good price, beware of heatIt's a decent cutting mat, but beware it will permanently distort itself if heated up. I have a halogen bulb that lights up my work area and half of my mat got pretty warm, and now it will no longer lay flat, no matter what I do. The mat is even adhered to the surface of the table and still it warped off of the table surface.4Awful chemical/plastic odor makes this unusableI have no idea how well this works as a cutting mat. It s probably great, Fiskars makes good stuff. Unfortunately, the plastic/chemical smell of the two mats I bought despite multiple washes with soap or vinegar, despite sitting immersed in baking soda for a week, despite airing outside for a month, the smell remains so strong that I can only be near them for about an hour before they give me a headache.1Excellent value! I love this mat!!! I found very little oder when first opening. The gray color is just what I needed to help me cut more accurately without a lot of other colors and lines to distract. I have cut a ton of fabric using a rotary cutter and the mat looks brand new. I ve also found that the ruler lines are very accurate and exactly match up to my Olfa Frosted rulers. Such a great price for a quality mat. 5Doesn't quite self heal.It is a mat, just not a self healing one. I've used it twice and you can see the cuts in it...Never used a self healing mat before so maybe cuts stay to some degree? Not sure. It works and helps not mark up my table and allows me to measure more precisely, but if you're looking for NO marks what so ever, wouldn't recommend. If you're looking for an affordable start to a SH mat, I'd say this would be fine.I knew my projects would be mostly 18" and under so I did opt for the bigger 18x24 mat. The mat itself is longer than that and is reversible, to help with different colored fabrics I would assume.4
