Customer Reviews

Basic quality with design flaws Constructed of very soft pine, this frame cracked and splintered on its first use, but these were not catastrophic failures. The primary flaw, however, resides within the crossbars. The instructions say to staple a strip of strong fabric to be used to attach your quilt sandwich, but that makes it difficult /impossible to slide the crossbars into the floor stand notches (and led to the cracking). In addition, if you are making a quilt with a width larger than 40", you will need to use both cross bars (which takes up 90" of floor space). Also, because of the notches, the maximum quilt width possible -- in contradiction to the advertised width -- is only 87-88". Other reviews mentioned purchasing replacement cross bars, but my lumber yard did not sell anything that could fit in the notches (1 1/2 x 1 1/2).(This was purchased for a quilter; she wrote this review.) 2Nice piece of equipment Although the instructions leave a lot to be desired, assembly and setup are pretty simple if you have any mechanical ability. Wife was quilting withing a couple hours. 5Should Include Fabric On Bars So Ready To Use First of all it's not ready to use. I had to order canvas and upholstery tacks to add something to hold the quilt in place. That was a big project. It is huge. Takes up tons of room. You can't see the back of your work easily because readjustment to back side view takes work. 2One Star Missing pieces and split parts 1Great product Great price, work amazing, the design is light but sturdy.Definitely recommend this product 5Had some problems with assy and use. Found upon assembly that one of the leg pieces had been drilled incorrectly. Had to redrill leg to be able to attach brace to it. On first day of use two separate parts of wood frame broke. Top notch on rear leg broke off and I was able to correct this with wood glue. Front main crossbar broke at splice because my wife leaned on it a little to reach across it. Also noticed rear crossbar warped under weight of quilt she was working on. Replaced front crossbar with square aluminum tubing from Lowes. They only had one tube in stock, so will replace rear crossbar when they get some more. $23.00 each at Lowes here. 3Initially loved it but broke the first time. Although I initially love it, the long cross pieces after they are joined cracked. It is a soft wood and any little bit of pressure on them they will crack them. I'm working a quilt that takes the entire length and at this length the manufacturer really needs to think about putting in a T post or something to support the middle of the cross bars. Right now I'm using my husbands Tbar that he uses for cutting on the chop saw or table saw. I find it a bit ridiculous to have to do this but its the only way to give it the support without the danger of it breaking again. I'm almost at the point of returning it but want to see how it does with this modification. Have to say after being so excited that I got it that I'm disappointed. 3A must have for making quilts. This was purchased as a gift for my sister who makes quilts. My mother had one built for her some 50 years ago, but after several moves, it got lost and I had been looking for a replacement for years until now. This one is great and looks almost like the one we lost. My family and I are extremely well pleased with frame and would highly recommend it to others. 5Definitely A Good Buy Really like. My husband added a small piece of heavy plastic to help stabilize the ends from coming out. I would suggest adding the fabric to the end pieces too. In order to omit a sag at the ends. 5Not a sturdy piece of equipment The braces that hold the quilting rods broke as soon as I put the rods in it with a quilt on. It may work for small projects but I would not recommend it for a double size or queen quilt. The piece literally sheered off where the screw inserts. Very weak materials and not a sturdy piece.Spend the extra money for a solid one. 1
