Customer Reviews

Another great addition to my growing collection!I've always been eccentric when it comes to my music. So when I have a craving for something outside of the mainstream, I get my hands on stuff that my family and friends would never buy. Anime soundtracks are a recent addition. (If I hear one more singer that's been culled from a reality show I might hurl!)Anyway...This disc has everything I like rolled into one: rock, techno, angelic voices, foreign languages, you name it. I've been trying to wear out Track 5 - Where Does This Ocean Go (very melancholy), Track 7 - Siberian Doll House (eerie), Track 11 - Inner Universe (the opening theme for the anime), and Track 18 - Rise (which is such a tease! I wish it went on for at least 4 minutes!) Don't get me wrong. I listen to the rest too, but I don't press the repeat button for them and let them play three or four times in a row. Thanks again Amazon for feeding my ears.To sum it up, this disc now has a slot reserved in my car (along with Samurai Champloo - Katana, which several people have tried to swipe.)Give it a try. I hope you enjoy it.5The rise song in this album is short version!!Love the album! But the reason I bought the album was most likely because of the 'Rise' song... dissapointed!!!4Just wanted to add to the ratings. It deserves a 10 star.I honestly don't watch this show. I had seen the intro to it once and thought it sounded interesting then stumbled across this a year or so later not even knowing thats what it was from. Its just great music. Techno, dance, rock.5For the rest of us too...Honestly, I loved the opening segment from Cartoon Network's showing of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex that I decided to track down the album. It was well worth the effort, this CD is awesome! Powerful, Lyrical (still need help translating the Russian), this is a stand-alone-album: great to zone out to, run background while entertaining, and perfect for the extended car ride. Buy this CD!5Great Anime MusicI was more impressed with this CD than I thought I would be. Its a very good soundtrack that follows GITS: SAC's first season very well. Yoko Kanno did an excellent job arranging the music on this CD. Some of it is great to get your blood pumping. Some of my favorite songs on the CD include cameo's by Origa.4I like the album starting from Inner Universe...I bought this album for track 11 "Inner Universe" (which is the track from the opening sequence of the tv show), and I would buy the album for this one track alone (it is a masterpiece). If you want some good Ghost in the Shell music, I would recommend buying Vol 1 and Vol 2 and then combining the best songs from those two albums into one playlist. Here is a playlist I created from Vol 1 and Vol 2 that contains no filler.___ start: Ghost in the Shell (essential) - this playlist contains no filler tracks ___Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex track 11 Inner Universe 4:55 Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex OST track 18 Rise [TV Size] 1:30 Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex OSTGhost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Vol. 2 track 1 Cyberbird 6:01 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2 track 5 I Can't Be Cool 4:32 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2 track 11 What's It For 3:18 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2 track 15 To Tell The Truth 4:52 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2___ end: Ghost in the Shell (essential) - this playlist contains no filler tracks ___If you want a slightly longer version with 2 extra songs from Vol 2 here is the same playlist with 2 extra songs from Vol 2 (track 7 and track 9) that are not good enough to stand on their own (in my opinion) but work well enough when included as part of this playlist.___ start: Ghost in the Shell (combo) - this playlist contains two filler tracks (track 7 and 9 on Vol 2) but still good ___Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex track 11 Inner Universe 4:55 Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex OST track 18 Rise [TV Size] 1:30 Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex OSTGhost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Vol. 2 track 1 Cyberbird 6:01 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2 track 5 I Can't Be Cool 4:32 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2 track 7 Gonna Rice 2:03 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2 track 9 Go DA DA 1:53 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2 track 11 What's It For 3:18 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2 track 15 To Tell The Truth 4:52 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T.2___ end: Ghost in the Shell (combo) - this playlist contains two filler tracks (track 7 and 9 on Vol 2) but still good ___PSIf you like this type of music I would also recommend "Cowboy Bebop" and "Cowboy Bebop: Blue".4Another reason i love anime so much...When you get soundtracks like this it only fuels the fire you have for anime that much more. I couldnt help but be compelled to buy this. But after hearing "Rise Tv Size" on the GitS anime. I didnt understand the language but i knew that i loved the music and what the singer was singing and along with "Inner Universe". I made the leap and purchased this and the 2nd volume of the Stand Alone Complex. It has wide ranging styles for people with different tastes. From pop to dance to hip-hop it has all those flavors and then some. Great soundtrack, excellent music production and writing make for a welcome addition to anyone's music collection.Whether your an anime fan or not. Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex is more than worth the price of admission and then some.5Four StarsI'm a fan of the series and enjoy the music.410 THUMBS UP!I watched the anime and was intrigued by the music. I'm very glad I took a chance and bought this CD! Rock, metal, pop, techno, world beat FUN. If you have eclectic taste, take a bite of this...most tasty - ENJOY.5Exceptional TV Soundtrack. As TV soundtracks go, this one is Exceptional. After getting the Wolf's Rain soundtrack and being disapointed with it, I was worried that this one might fall well short of my expectations. It did not. "Inner Universe" - the track played in the opening credits of the show, and the song I can credit for prompting me to buy the album, is a masterpiece and almost singularly warrants buying this album. The number of vocal tracks on this album are higher than I usually like on a soundtrack, but the songs are good enough and well enough performed that it is easily forgotten. In fact, most of my favorite tracks of this album are vocals. The only flaws I found is that a couple of the instrumentals suffer from repetativeness and the song "Monochrome" is a bit annoying with it's high-pitched beeps. The style of the music is quite varied, though shows an obvious techno influence in line with the future setting of the series. The variety of music on this album captures the variety of moods that are present in the series. Many of the songs on the album are quite dramatic, a trait which I love and expect in soundtracks. It's a good compliment to the series, or a good (dare I say it?) stand alone album. Why not 5 stars? Only because I don't believe in giving anything a perfect score unless it too is perfect, just as I don't believe in giving 1 star unless the item is total garbage.4
