Customer Reviews

Won me over. When I first tried these strings they did feel a little different, I've been using reg boomers and these feel as one reviewer said a little "sticky" and my first though was, "I won't buy these again," but they sounded good and by the end of the first week I was hooked, they do take a little getting used to, and over reg boomers, they last twice as long with a little brighter tone an smoother feel after they break in. Give them a try, there are only so many things you can do for improved tone and play-ability, and new strings can make a big difference.5Superior sounding stringsI almost didn't buy these because of some of the reviews. Some expressed concerns about the strings being sticky. While they are not as slick as some, I have not found that to be much of an issue. What I do like about these strings is that they sound great, it's so noticeable that I thought it would wear out, but it has not. I cannot say enough about how much I think these strings have improved my sound.5I love them. I do not want to try any ...I have been using these strings for over ten years now. I love them. I do not want to try any other strings for my electric guitars. I very rarely break these strings and I do a lot of bends in my playing. I love the tone, stability and feel of these strings.5Count me in the hate category. The burnished wound strings feel "sticky" for ...If you've never tried burnished strings - go ahead and order another set of something else while you are at it. This is a love/hate type of string. Count me in the hate category. The burnished wound strings feel "sticky" for lack of a better term. Your fingers get hung up on them and don't slide as smoothly when moving up and down the fretboard. I've never felt so sloppy in my life. They DO sound great, but the feel killed it for me. Obviously, I'm in the minority, but I just wanted to share my experience.2Unique soundI bought the Medium rockers for my hollowbody guitar. Part of my reasoning for wanting to try the burnished strings was to try to reduce finger squeak, which has thus far been worse than the regular round-wound steel strings I get! Where the ridges aren't as pronounced, your skin tends to stick to the strings more. Maybe this will improve after a while, or maybe a coating of some sort would help. The sound is interesting. The sustain seems warmer while articulation seems brighter/clearer. I'm also currently hearing more harmonic overtones, especially in the lower range. In fact, the low E string almost has a subtle, intrinsic twelfth-fret harmonic, which I'm not sure if I like yet or not.I'll report back if anything changes, but I'm not sure I'm sold on these yet.4Old School Strings that Stay in TuneI love these strings. They sound warm, yet clear, feel really smooth, they are easy to bend notes with, last long and work well with both single and double coil pickups. They also have a really nice vintage vibe.5Great StringsI have a few guitars, and try to play a lot of different sorts of music. For the last year or so I've been trying to find strings that I'm really happy with for my strat, which I use mainly for stuff in the blues/funk/classic rock vein. I very quickly homed-in on pure nickel strings in general, and have tried several different sets. I think though that these guys may be the ones I stick with, they give me pretty much exactly what I'm looking for from that guitar. Not a lot to say beyond that, they're great strings! I will say one thing though: a few people have mentioned the feel of these strings as being weird, and I will say that yes, that are that. I use the "light" set (.010), and I'll attest that these suckers can be finger killers... if you don't have serious callouses, you might want to try something else. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, just something to think about. Of course, if you don't have callouses, after a month with these strings, you will!Recommended!5I like em. Although, I got a strange set.I purchased these strings because I've tried lots of strings and like GHS quite a bit. I bought a new Telecaster and wanted a heavier set for slide guitar, so went with the 11's. Strange thing about the set I received though is that the low E is flatwound. I didn't notice initially, but was playing in dim lighting this evening and noticed the difference in color. Upon inspection, the low E is a flatwound! Must have been a manufacturer error, and a weird one at that. Can't say that it bugs me though. It actually gives a weird tone to my slide playing. But other than that I really like the tone and feel of these strings and may try a lighter set on my strat next string change.5GHS SuccessThe Nickel Rockers with a distinctive smoothness in touch and tone. These strings are very pliable and can take some serious bending with tearing your fingers up. The warm tone is standard for nickel strings but the smooth finish from being burnished makes the difference between the other 'nickel rockers'. Give them a try on a tele and see what happens.5 Air tight fresh pack? Just threw two packs ... Air tight fresh pack? Just threw two packs of them away after taking both sealed packages out of my sealed guitar parts container to find both packs were rusted.1If you like the BoomersI originally got these because the GHS Boomers are an add on item and I only needed strings, so I spent a little more to get these right. What a difference compared to the Boomers. These sound and feel incredible! If you like the Boomers, you'll love these.5GHS! Best I've Found!!These are my new favorite strings. I had tried GHS Boomers, but, they seemed a little too bright with my P-90 equipped Gibson Melody Maker. D'Addario's are too stiff, & Ernie Ball stretch & seem to rust quickly. I tried DR nickel strings, but, they seemed to have quality control issues with the wire. I'm really glad I decided on a whim to try these. The round wound strings are smooth the touch and produce less string squeal.Try a set!5
