Customer Reviews

Best investment on my Gibson'sI've used these to replace the white button tuners on my SG special. Direct replacement. No mods needed. They also fit my 2015 Les Paul Traditional, same deal. Direct replacement. These tuners are exception quality compared to any tuners I've used. For the price and peace of mind that your guitar will actually stay in tune, its worth the buy ten times over. Ya figure you spend upwards of a thousand to two thousand dollars on a guitar that it would stay in tune, right? Not so much, you need these.5Excellent Replacement TunersThese tuners are excellent. I found them very easy to install on my Gibson Les Paul Historic Reissue guitars. I had to enlarge the factory headstock holes slightly to fit the Grover tuners but it was very easy. All you need is a drill and a drill bit. I will strongly advise to use the original factory screws when installing the new tuners as the Grover supplied screws are slightly smaller and won t grab as well. Once installed I noticed an immediate difference. My guitars stay in perfect tune with new strings. I highly recommend these tuners. Very well made and far superior to the Gibson originals.5Replaced Min-Etune on Gibson Les PaulI bought these to replace the min-etune system on my Les Paul Studio. I was having some odd consistency issues with the robotuners, and I was hoping for a fix. So far, these things are perfect. They re Kluson style, look great, and are working perfectly. Tuning issues are gone. The installation is simple; they were a perfect match for the headstock. You will need to drill pilot holes for the small screws on the back of the headstock though, but it s very easy to handle regardless of skill level. Using a 1/16 bit worked perfectly. I taped off the drill bit to match the length of the included screws, so I wouldn t go too far into the headstock, and it was easy to finish the job. All told it took about 25 minutes.Very pleased with the Grovers.5Looks Great, Solid, Smooth & WorksGreat addition to a Chibson that came with Epiphone parts. I had to drill out the holes to but it's a Chibson. They turn smooth and are not stiff or loose. Finish is great and the color is tons better than the gum ball machine tuners that came on the thing. (photos; one is a before picture with the broken bubble gum machine tuners that were replaced. Would buy again5Best kluson-style tuners I've usedI love these tuners. My Gibson Standard Hummingbird came with basic chrome Grover tuners. I wanted a look similar to my Gibson True Vintage Hummingbird which came with Gibson-branded kluson style tuners. I was torn between installing the Gibsons vs these Grovers. I went with the Grovers because the guitar came with Grovers (the chrome ones). At one point I was afraid that these might be inferior because they cost less. Wrong. These are better than the Gibson version. I would highly recommend these for any Gibson (acoustic or electric) as a big upgrade. The only downside is that the luthier has to drill holes if you're converting from chrome tuners (which is true if you're using Grover or Gibson kluson-style tuners). The back of the tuners cover the holes, but deep down we all know they are still there. No regrets, great upgrade.5Thank you Grover... You got it right! If you have a tuner with the words "Gibson Deluxe, Fender Deluxe, Kluson Deluxe " ect, you would think that you have a pretty good tuner. Right? That's not always correct.I've always liked the look of the "Vintage Style" tuners, but in most cases, they have been my least favorite tuners to use.Other than them being lightweight they aren't perfection when it comes to tuning, it seems as though you always have one that the back falls off of. The reason being that the other big name companies use two small tabs that fold over to hold the backs on.Good luck with trying to fix it and even more luck to you in trying to buy just one replacement tuner. Here's where Grover should receive an award for being "GENIOUS"!Grover Vintage Style tuners are heavier, stronger, smooth as silk when tuning and they don't use those annoying little tabs to hold the backs on.How do they do it? They use three small riviots to assemble them and it works. You'd need a jackhammer to get the backs off of these. In a nutshell, they are stronger, smoother and better looking than any other brand of Vintage Style tuners that I have ever used.GREEN...GREEN...GREEN? No, they are not.I've read other reviews from people complaining about the Green-ish color. These people might not be old enough to know that plastics have changed a lot over the years. Since these are Vintage Style tuners, they are trying to replicate the plastic of yesteryear.Do some research on vintage guitars. Go to your favorite guitar store and look at vintage Les Paul's as well as brand new ones. I'm sure you'll agree that the color of the knobs on these tuners are just fine.No... They are NOT pearl white. Likewise, they are not Christmas Tree Green either.I personally don't care if they are Barbie Pink. They are fantastic tuners and they really don't deserve to get a lower rating, simply because someone doesn't like the color of the plastic knobs.Buy a set. You and your guitar will love them.5Goodbye Gibson Deluxe TunersSwapped out the Gibson Deluxe (Kluson style) tuners for these Grovers on my 2000 Gibson Les Paul Gary Moore. The whole process took 15-20 minutes. I've always hated the cheap Gibson alternatives to the classic tuners they used in the 60's, especially on a pricey '59 commemorative. The pricey guitar never stayed in tune and the nut was not to blame. These Grovers, on the other hand, have no play when turning, feel so much more substantial (well built), and up to this point, keep the guitar in tune. I am super stocked with these. I've always favored Grover and I highly recommend these!514:1 Ratio Tuners that are Solid and Hold TuningsExact replica of deluxe Gibson machine tunersSame size - flawless installation on Gibson Les PaulGear Ratio of 14:1 - only part I don t like. Same as stock machine tuners... so why did I buy?Because they are more solid than the Gibson Deluxe tuners and mine were worn out. However, if you want a higher ratio (for those quirkey G and B strings) then look at another tuner. Not sure if available in this style with a higher ratio.Overall they are great at what they do and are slightly higher quality than stock Gibson. If you don t have a Gibson then these may be much better than your stock machine tuners.4Feel very solid and work way better than the eTune tuners I had on my Les ...Feels very solid and works way better than the eTune tuners I had on my Les Paul Standard. These have an overall slightly darker color than the original tuners which you can see from the photo, which has me holding the original tuners next them.Note that if you are swapping out the robotic eTune tuners, you'll have to pre drill some holes with a 1/16" drill bit because the original tuners don't mount the same way. I tried to do one screw without pre drilling and the screw snapped in half, so please learn from my mistake.5Excellent purchase, spot on replica for my Les Paul Deluxe.Absolute perfect fit! Looks just like the machine heads on my 2001 Deluxe. Don't pay attention to people saying that it looks too GREEN, this looks exactly like the ones that came with my Gibson, which is 15 years old! You can tell I changed the "D" because it's much cleaner then the rest, so when I do them all, the guitar will look pristine. It took me under 5 minutes to install one of these, it's very easy.5
