Customer Reviews

HEAVY METAL (A QUALITY AND FEATURES REVIEW)THIS STAND IS MADE OF HEAVY SQUARE METAL BARS INSTEAD OF THE USUAL THIN TUBING AND IS HELD TOGETHER WITH BOLT-LIKE SCREWS AND METAL SCREW-ON CAPS INSTEAD OF CHEAP RIVETS. ALL SWIVEL PARTS EXCEPT THE BOW ADJUSTMENTS HAVE SPRING-LOADED BUTTONS THAT LOCK IN PLACE TO AVOID POTENTIAL DISASTER.A PUSH OF THE BUTTON RELEASES AND FOLDS.THE BOW REQUIRES AN ALLEN WRENCH TO TIGHTEN IF YOU WISH AND MOVES UP AND DOWN FREELY. THE BOTTOM OF THE SOPRANO PEG SLIDES UP AND DOWN AS NEEDED AND IS HELD IN PLACE BY A SMALL LEVER UNDERNEATH IT. THE BOW HOLDERS ARE SOLID AND THE PADDING IS FIRM, NOT TOO SOFT, AND SEEMS LIKE THEY SHOULD LAST. THE STAND COMES IN A CARDBOARD BOX WITH A PLASTIC HANDLE IN THE TOP FOR EASY CARRYING AND STORAGE. WELL WORTH THE MONEY.5Great stand, very sturdy, with one drawback: it's really big.I should have figured that it would take up a lot of space. I love this stand. When I'm not using it, it folds up. I wish one of the legs didn't have to stick out when folded, but otherwise, it doesn't take up too much room. It's real sturdy, and my three saxes fit securely on the stand; my old Belmonte stand let my alto slide, which resulted in the horn falling off a few times. No damage, but I finally decided not to take any more chances. The only drawback to this stand is its size when being used. I play in a big band with those cardboard music stands (you know, the ones with the logo of the band printed on the front), and my old stand would fit in between them when we play concerts. This stand takes up more room, and makes a tight performing space even tighter. But on gigs with smaller groups, it's perfect.4Absolutely perfect for my needs. While I have individual stands for my saxophones, they take up a lot of room when they are all in use. I needed something to allow me to keep my instruments out and available for practice. This stand holds 2 altos (or alto and tenor), straight soprano, clarinet and flute and doesn't take up much room. I can store cases in a closet and the horns are available for practice. I don't use this stand for gigs, only in my studio. The flute peg does allow the instrument to "wobble" a little and that's my only complaint. All other instruments are held very securely and the stand is solidly made, like all Hercules stands. My Bari has it's own stand..... also Hercules.5Great.I love it. Holds my alto, tenor, soprano, clarinet, and flute. All sturdy and feels safe.5Wobbly, But Holds My Alto, Tenor, and TrumpetNot as sturdy as I expected, wobbles a bit if you do anything, but I still trust it to hold my instruments. The soprano stand nicely holds a trumpet if you just take the bulb at the top off. Also, since I do not have any clarinets yet I find the pegs for those nicely hold my extra mouthpieces.4Love this standFantastic. Love this stand. I have a couple of Hercules single sax stands with soprano pegs and they were the best stands I have had until I bought this stand. They refined the shape of the bell support loops so that it holds an alto or tenor more securely. The soprano peg is a better shape, too. This is the first Hercules clarinet peg I have had, but that works well, also. Unlike my Belmonte multi-sax stand, this stand does not tend to tip.5Ok but don't forget to hold the extender bar down while putting your sax on itThese are ok, I just don't like the fact that I have to hold the little extender bar down every time I put my saxophones on this stand. If I don't hold the little center extender bar down with my left hand while I'm putting my sax on it with my right hand, the extender bars just fold up and lets the sax hit metal. Other than that it works pretty well with my Alto, Tenor, Soprano and flute all resting on it.3Does the job.My multi-instrument son really likes this after using it for some time and told me to post five stars.5Saxual Sprawl....Not wanting to bring two stands, or laying an instrument down somewhere, I decided to order a stand that could hold more than the usual four instruments my other combo stands do. It's great being able to hold five instruments, but I was a little disappointed with a couple things. I wish it were able to configure the placement of the legs so it took up less space. I generally put my stand on a small tray table, and this is too wide for even my extra-wide one, and must sit on the ground (unless there's a closed grand piano next to me). Even on the ground it covers a lot of stage real-estate, and a little tricky figuring out how to place it so I can easily access all the instruments. My other minor complaint was that the sax holders had to both be manually bent a good bit, in order to better secure the bells of my horns. And now that I think about it, it would be nice to have a cooler color than that bright yellow, while distinctive, IMHO, it's not very classy or sharp....4So hgood that I bought two of them!My teenage son plays the Tenor, Alto, Soprano saxophones and the clarinet. This holds them all neatly and with perfect stability in his practice room. I bought a second one which he keeps in school so there is never a reason to lay the instruments on a chair, the floor, or in harms way. The first stand I bought a few years ago was not a Hercules and while the pictures looked good, the stand was unstable and shaky so I sent it back. I believe Hercules is the best brand.5
