Customer Reviews

Easy Access to Guitars (with very low ding risk)This is the type of item I really like! Open box. Unfold. Use. It's a sturdy but lightweight stand, and it can handle three guitars. I had three guitars on it at first. However, when I moved one of them to the building where I work, it was a simple matter to re-position the brackets on the rack and make it a two-guitar stand. I like this design better than the other rack I had, which sometimes required me to lift one guitar out from behind another, and there was occasional banging (nothing serious, but worrisome). With this one, it's equal ease of access to all. It fits nicely along the wall, with a small footprint. It is sturdy, easy to use, nice looking, and I recommend it.5Great stand! Space-efficient and secure for 3+ instruments. This stand holds my instruments (guitars and banjos) safely and securely, and is very space efficient. I live in earthquake country and, short of "the big one" I feel very good about this stand. It's made for three guitars, nominally, but you can add more of the neck yokes and rubber bumpers and potentially fit more instruments. I couldn't tell, from either Amazon or from Hercules' web site, exactly how much space there is. Now that I own one, I've measured so that you don't need to guess (you're welcome!). The width of the inside of the frame where the instruments go is 19 1/4", and the rubber bumpers are 9/16" each. So, for three guitars, the max width is 19 1/4 - (2 * 9/16) or 18 1/8". For four instruments, (assuming you add one extension kit), you get 19 1/4 - (3 * 9/16) or 17 9/16". That's the max total width of the base of the instruments that you can fit. Of course, be aware of bridges, knobs, etc. that might be wider than the base. For me, I can get one dreadnought, a slightly shallower acoustic, a full resonator banjo and a thinner open back banjo. You might get five solid body electrics. If you crowd it, though, even if it fits you'll need to be very careful getting instruments in and out.5Stand is not very sturdyAfter reading all of these positive reviews, I expected this stand to be sturdy, especially considering the price. To my surprise, with some guitars on the rack, the stand could easily be wobbled from side to side. I tried tightening all of the screws and bolts but it made no difference. The build quality is nice, but the design allows for wobble. My el-cheapo guitar stand/rack I purchased from guitar center is much sturdier than this. On the good side, this stand spaces out the guitars nicely and is very adjustable, the foam is high quality, and the neck holders are also nice. I was expecting the neck hoders to be made out of a hard plastic, but they have a rubber feel to them. All in all, it's a decent little stand, but I was expecting something sturdier and more robust for the price.3Very Sturdy. No Assembly Required.I have some expensive guitars (at least I think they are). When I m writing chords for a song and need to set down a guitar or changing guitars at a gig, I m not about to lean the guitar against a table or a chair or a wall. Most single guitar stands I ve seen are an accident waiting to happen. No way! This stand comes completely assemble: just open it up and use it. It s bulky, yes, but not heavy. It s very sturdy. It would be very hard to tip this over. I ll use this usually for only one guitar, and I ll return the guitar to its case when I m done. When I m using the stand, though, I knowmit isn t going to fall over with any normal sort of usage. By the way, while the neoprene padding on this stand is probably plenty, just to be sure, I went to Lowe s and bought two six foot lengths of pipe insulation with a one inch interior diameter. $4 total. I covered every surface that might possibly get bumped, and I even covered the neoprene padding. It still folds just fine. I think this is sturdier than the five guitar holder. If I wanted to put five guitars on a rack, I would buy two of these. By the way, I m primarily a mandolin player. This rack holds a mandolin case just fine. It will also hold a mandolin safely, especially with the extra padding, but the tuning keys fit into the neck holder.5I highly recommend this IF you want to leave your guitars out ...This is a solid stand, especially for home studio or music room. I actually got extra spacers and have five electric guitars in this rack. If you also want to squeeze in an acoustic with your electric guitars, then your max would be four total (three electrics and an acoustic). I highly recommend this IF you want to leave your guitars out of their cases.5Great rack I love- but man, they just nickle and dime youThis rack is fantastic. I love it from the frame and folding. I have 6 electric instruments on it: a bass, 2 Les Pauls, an SG, a Tele and a Strat and the fit is good. I had to order 3 of the add-on Ys for the guitar necks to make it 6. That is the issue. They are $10 a pop and you are going to buy 1 or 2 unless you have 3 acoustics. Also, the ones you buy, screw down really tightly and don't move- but the ones that come with it, are just rubber and move all over when you tap them with the guitar neck. Lame. I wish they just would have charged $10 or $20 more, and included 5 screw down Ys. It's a great quality product marred by such a simple oversight. I dislike the Ys that come with it so much, I am thinking about cutting them off and spending the $30 to replace them. That's an additional $50 if you do the math, to get what you should have in the first place. Otherwise, the rack itself is just 5 star fantastic. Losing a star for the cheap and not enough Ys.4The best multi-guitar stand out thereSimply put, this is the best multi-guitar stand there is. I know it s tempting to try a cheaper option (I certainly have), and some are decent enough, but Hercules is the top of the line for a reason...in this case, no assembly required, unfolds simply right out of the box, the feet all sit evenly on the floor, and it easily and securely holds most any guitar or bass, with an ability to easily adjust the head rests and base dividers. This is key, because, that ensures *it will adapt to your instruments, not force you to hope yours fit the stand as it was constructed.* And of course you can also easily expand to 4 slots with the optional add on package....ingenious. The point is, the design is what you're paying for; it works FOR you, not vice-versa.Do I wish it was a little cheaper? Sure, but given the often poor construction/lack of stability, and regularly zero versatility of just about any other multi-guitar stand, the time it takes to put them together, etc, go with Hercules because you know exactly what you re getting every time. Buy this if you never want to think about your guitars on a multi-stand again. It's just that simple.5May I award 6 stars?Wow! It's just as advertised...and more. What the listing does not say (and, for that reason, I don't know whether it will always be true) is that it comes with one Guitar Extension Pack. The stand is one piece, collapses, and comes fully assembled. I got mine to hold 3 open-back banjos. It does that just fine, but I couldn't help thinking that it might be a bit wider than necessary and perhaps I could have gotten something a bit narrower. But, the light bulb went on almost immediately. I slid the spacers to the left, still leaving a comfortable amount of room for each instrument, installed the extension pack, and the stand now holds three open back banjos and a dreadnought size acoustic guitar. Four instruments that used to take up a room now occupy only a corner of it.Somewhere (maybe not here) states that the stand can hold up to six guitars. I can believe it if they have thin Strat or Tele types of bodies. Not 6 acoustics, though.5Sturdy, Handy, Space SaverWhen I'm at home, 9 months a year, I have my guitars out of harm's way on wall hangers or, when humidity conditions warrant, one of my acoustics is in it's case with humidipaks. But we spend three months each winter in a small rental place down south, and if I want to bring my gear, I need a really space efficient way to store it. I have two acoustics and two solid body electrics, and with one extra set of spacers & neck cradle, this holds all of them perfectly. I have to be a little bit careful not to bump them against each other when I'm taking them out or putting them back, but this rack is the ticket. I don't play out much anymore, but if you gig and need to bring a few instruments, this will handle them... Highly recommended...5Super sturdy, comfortably rests and protects guitars from falling/shifting ...Super sturdy, comfortably rests and protects guitars from falling/shifting and folds open to a ready-to-use state right out of the box. Hercules touts this product very specifically as nitrocelluous-friendly/non-interactive, but they do issue a standard disclaimer around their inability to test each and every forumulation of finish from every manufacturer. As a nitro-finish guitar owner, I'm personally not concerned about the disclaimer in the least. To me, being familiar in the world of business and limiting one's liabilities, this is clearly a means for them to remove the liability that would come with making a unilateral claim of being nitro-safe only to find some forumulation on the market exists which ends up containing compounds that do lead to some interaction/reaction to the foam being used. In other words, I'm pretty dang sure they tested with Gibson's commonly used nitro finishes... but I wouldn't be so sure that they tested with any and all forms of "Chibsons" floating around in the marketplace (not cost-effective or meaningful to do so). While even this should a non-issue as long as the finish is really a standard forumation, Hercules isn't going to take on the liability of a guarantee for any and all finishes on the planet from manufacturers off the beaten path of mainstream and where quality control of finish ingredients might not be so reliable/consistent. No worries here, for me. This stand/rack is exactly what I was looking for in the way of quality and functionality.5
