    No. 1 Christmas CDI have gone back and forth between a few different Christmas CD's this holiday season and none of them compare to the awesomeness of Idina Menzel's newest holiday mix. She has beautiful mash-ups. She makes jazzy holiday songs modern in such a fun and inviting spirited way. I swear, this is a CD that I am going to be listening to 6 months out of the year. It's just that good.5Idina Menzel Mkaes Holiday Wishes Come TrueThe spirit of Christmas is alive and in good hands in Holiday Wishes, the new cd by Idina Menzel. Anyone who has heard her singing, especially from the movie, Frozen, will be aware of the powerful voice and range that Ms. Menzel exhibits, but she also shows an awareness of the importance of keeping traditional feelings for beloved Christmas carols. In the past popular artists have tried to give familiar Christmas songs their own particular flavor and have succeeded only in ruining the sound that most people want in their favorites songs of the season. Idina Menzel deserves praise and gratitude for keeping the expected versions of the songs that she chose for Holiday Wishes, while maintaining the voice that her fan s know well and love.5Could've been betterWhile not a bad Christmas album, it could've used more conventional holiday songs. (I don't understand why "When You Wish Upon a Star" was included here.) Still an entertaining CD to play while doing Christmas things.3Nice renditions of holiday favoritesOverall I enjoyed this album. I am not a fan of Broadway musicals and had never heard of this artist other than John Travolta's butchering her name at last year's Academy Awards for her performance of the song "Let it Go" from Frozen. I didn't care for that song (longer than "Freebird" I think) but think Ms. Menzel has a great voice and can really belt out a tune. For the most part the selections on this collection are mostly holiday favorites (not sure where "The River" came from) and she does a nice job. On a couple of the more up tempo numbers she does inserts a little "Come on" emphasis to the lyrics which seems a bit out of place and distracting, I found myself listening for it on repeated playing of certain songs. I think most holiday music fans would enjoy this disc from a more contemporary artist.4This Is My Holiday Wish!I love Idina's voice, I knew I would love this album because I had previously known it was Idina's bestselling album. I love "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey. I loved Idina's version more. My favorite song in "Holiday Wishes" is "December Prayer". My wife really likes Idina Menzel so I thought this would be a good album to have playing for our Christmas party. She a good singer but I still like the original signers of the classic Christmas songs more. On the plus side, we got a digital version of this holiday album so that was a pretty big plus.4Disappointing CD from a Magnificent Superstar!I adore Idina Menzel, but she had to know we would want to sing along with her. I did not like her version of pretty much all of the songs. I was hoping she would beat Mariah's "All I want for Christmas", but the championship title stays with Mariah. Again, I will continue to adore Idina, but this CD was a disappointment.2Have a holly jolly Christmas...Idina is amazing and doesn't disappoint in this holiday album!!5A Beautiful Combination of Classic and Contemporary Christmas Songs!Ever since Disney's Frozen came out, I've been listening to Idina Menzel more because I love her beautiful and powerful voice. For anyone who is unaware, Idina Menzel provides the voice for the character of Elsa. A couple months ago, Idina's newest album entitled idina. came out and I decided to purchase that one as well as Holiday Wishes because I love Christmas music!Holiday Wishes was released two years ago and contains 12 songs, running for almost 50 minutes. Nearly all of the songs are covers and Idina Menzel sings them beautifully, often adding her own little style to the song. Some songs are classic Christmas songs while others are contemporary songs. Michael Buble joins Idina Menzel for the duet of "Baby It's Cold Outside" and the finished product is reminiscent of the big-band style of Dean Martin's original. I have always loved Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" and Idina Menzel's version is sung beautifully, though not as good as the original, in my opinion. My favorites are "Do You Hear What I Hear," "Silent Night," and "White Christmas." Even though "When You Wish Upon a Star" isn't necessarily a Christmas song, the Disney classic is very fitting with this album and the Christmas season in general. The album's only original song is "December Prayer" which is co-written by Menzel herself.I really like the variety of songs on this album and see myself listening to it quite a bit during the rest of the holiday season. It's not a particularly jazzy, super upbeat album; rather, I'd say it's more mellow but Idina Menzel's beautiful vocals make it well-worth purchasing. This album would actually be perfect for Christmas parties, both home and office, so if you're hosting or attending one where some music is needed, I'd recommend Holiday Wishes. It is also good for listening to while laying on the couch in front of a fire and drinking hot chocolate! Overall, I like the album but it's not one of my favorites although it will still get plenty of attention over the next month!4Idina Ideal For The HolidayThis is the first holiday album I've bought in years--since the Michael Buble one.Idina Menzel is one of the most gifted songstresses working today. She does some amazing things with her fabulous voice. Her choice of material is flawless. And she does a duet, a highlight, with Buble--Baby It's Cold Outside. The two are tremendous together! Her renditions are all top notch, especially Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.Thoroughly recommended!5
