Customer Reviews
did not work
won't work unless you keep pressing on the plugs. i'm using good cables too. usually hosa is reliable, so maybe I got a fake?
1Super handy
I bought this coupler to get a little extra range from two 25ft cables instead of buying another cable. Worked out perfectly, cables positively lock into the coupler, no extra noise, and it's a handy thing to have around. Would buy another connector/adapter from Hosa should the need arise.
5Plugs Do Not Snuggly Snap In - Too Loose
I have had good luck with the Hosa brand in the past, but I bought two of these couplers and neither were acceptable. The holes are so loose that male plugs disconnect with the slightest tug on the cable. Plugs do not snuggly snap-in like you would expect. These Planet Waves 1/4 Inch Female Stereo Coupler are much better and worth the difference in price.
1Yes it works
Works just fine. I haven't used it often enough to know how durable it is; but it shows no sign of breaking down or falling apart or even corroding, for that matter. Buy it.
5Add me to the list of it works fine
I see a lot of reviews identify quality issues. Mine connects fine with no apparent audio issue. I have a static setup, so I'm not tugging on the connection, decoupling and recoupling often, or dragging it around stage or anything, so maybe I would have a different experience otherwise. 4 stars until it breaks because it is very economical.
4Get what you pay for, but works
This is definitely a "get what you pay for" product, but it performs surprisingly well. I'm using it to transfer the xlr out on my soundboard into a 1/8" jack for an extra set of speakers by the fireplace (with an additional 1/4" to 1/8" adapter). It seems to do the job in a very basic way. I've also used it as a crude way to do in-ear monitoring and, if you tweak the settings enough, it's a very cheap solution for simple in-ears. Hopefully it lasts for awhile as the construction does not feel very rugged.
4Works great, why spend more?
Fits tightly, works perfectly. I bought the same coupler at Guitar Center for $4.99. I now have two, and they're both perfect. However, the mixed reviews here show that this company has a big quality control problem (waddya expect -- cheap and made in China). If you get a bad one, get it replaced.TRS, by the way, means it couples stereo cables. Mono cables -- instruments, mikes, pedals, etc. -- work just fine with this coupler, but you'll lose a channel if you try to connect a stereo cable (TRS) to a mono cable (TS). Get a TRS to TS coupler for that.
5Thank you!
The product works as advertised and arrived in a timely manner ~ Way sooner than expected! Thank you!
5Does what it is designed to do
Converts 1/4-inch TSR cable to XLR. You will obviously need to buy two if you are trying to hook up stereo monitors with TSR cables to XLR outputs from a mixer. But if you are shopping for one of these, you probably already know this. The only minor complaint is that they are a bit long so if your mixer has XLR outputs on the top, these tower a bit high, but they do what is needed.
4Not that great
I had to work to find the sweet spot of my TRS cable when plugging it in to get both channels to come through the PA. When plugged in all the way, only one channel came through. I have since actually quit using this item and moved to 1/8" to RCA since my PA has stereo RCA inputs on one channel. I would not recommend this product.
