Customer Reviews

I love the smaller size personally and it's definitely easier for ...Just what I needed! I write and record music at home. I needed a bass but didn't have a desire to blow a lot of money on one since I just need it to lay down some bass tracks for my songs. I also had a daughter who was interested in learning to play, so for me it killed two birds with one stone. I love the smaller size personally and it's definitely easier for my daughter to play because of that.5Super comfy and awesome with upgradesThese short scale basses are a joy to play if you don t have large hands. Restringing with D Addario short scale half-rounds 45-100 and doing a full setup with the truss rod, bridge and intonation made this great. And swapping the neck J pickup with an mLaval $16 special (need to trim to use the original cover, and wire out of phase) made this sound and play about as good as any bass under $1000 to my recollection.Don t be afraid you won t be able to make the jump to a full scale bass, learn comfortably and stretching a bit later will be no problem. If it isn t comfortable for you you aren t going to do it enough...and to be honest I don t see or hear much lost vs the longer strings once upgraded.5A very nice instrument for a killer price.Fun little bass i use for practice while sitting in my easy chair watching the latest drivvel on TV. I plug it into a earbud amp and can practice while "watching TV with my wife" Nice smooth action, well finished and very attractive. The tuners and other hardware are just fine. Not the caliber of my big Fender Jazz bass, but certainly good enough. It fits nicely into a standard electric guitar gig bag for travelling. The tone is decent and the electronics work as they should. my only complaint is rough edges on the fret ends near the neck but the area of the neck where you play is perfect. Overall a very nice instrument.4This bass really does give you the MOST BANG FOR THE BUCK$$I am a novice bass player more of a hobbyist really and I have been using my 5 string bass to practice and learn on. However I find that the frets are too big and my arthritis makes it difficult for me to stretch my hands to get good sounding notes. So I decided to try a Short Scale bass guitar. I found this one on Amazon from Roxy Music and ordered it. There were some issues initially with shipping due to the Labor Day holiday and human error on the shipping address. But I finally got the bass. And I really love this bass! It plays very smooth and sounds great. The quality is A#1. No flaws in the finish. The shorter scale really sounds the same as my big 5 string bass but plays A LOT easier. So I would highly recommend both Amazon & Roxy Music and of course Ibanez Mikro Bass for anyone needing a low cost short scale bass to learn or practice on!!!5Does not match pictureReally like this bass. However, be aware that if you order the walnut color, what you get does not match the picture. Had I read the description a more closely, I would have probably known better. The body of the guitar is made of poplar, not walnut. Poplar is a softwood that does not have a nice defined grain. It is painted something that I guess is supposed to resemble walnut, but falls far short. Anyway, the pic is not even close to what I got, which is a pretty ugly greenish gold kind of color.3Awesome value for a short-scale bassI've been looking for a short-scale bass and didn't want to spend a lot. For reference, this is my third bass and I've lost track about how many guitars I've bought and played over the years!Let me just say that it's a fantastic value for the price. It's not perfect by any means and it doesn't come with a case or gig bag. There are also some minor finish issues: for example, there are small gaps where the neck meets the body and some paint issues around the neck bolts but they are not very noticeable.I tuned it and it was immediately playable. Neck and action were fine but intonation was totally off and it only took 15 minutes or so to correct. It comes with all of the tools you need except for a screwdriver to use for the bridge saddles.Frets are level and finished well, tuning pegs are smooth and it stays in tune. Pickups are basic but sound fine and unfortunately, there is no way to select which pickup combo and it's a matter of adjusting individual pickup volumes. But overall, it's hard to go wrong. I've purchase guitars and basses at 3-5x the price that had more finish and setup issues.5Perfect for guitar player who wants to play bassExactly what I wanted! The setup out of the box was dead nuts. Low action, perfect intonation, no fret buzz anywhere on the neck. The scale length and neck dimensions are almost exactly the same as my strat so picking it up and playing was effortless.I personally love the jangly sound that you get the round wound strings and the strings being under less tension. I actually have the same Ibanez GSR bass in full scale length too. I muuuuuch prefer this little one because the fret spacing is so close to most electric guitars.I plan on swapping out the pickups and electronics for a fender PJ setup. Tone controls are a little strange to me... I tend to just crank everything all the way up and adjust tone with my amp more so than with the knobs. I bought a used TC electronic BG250 2x8 bass amp. 500 bucks grand total for a really nice bass setup :-) buy a decent amp too! A nice bass through a cheap amp will still sound like shit.5This bass is an EXCELLENT value! After 50 years of playing bass!Out of the box, this bass is an EXCELLENT value! After 50 years of playing bass, I switched to Short Scale and will never go back to a 34" scale bass. Playing Short Scale is so much fun, I feel like I am cheating! I purchase this Ibanez Mikro as a backup bass to my Gretsch semi-acoustic short scale bass.I own a very high end Ibanez 34" scale bass and thought that the Mikro could not possibly have same quality. I was VRY surprise! I bought the Sun Burst finish and it looks really good. The overall fit and finish is excellent. The electronics sound great. It feels incredibly natural while playing.I gave the this review 4 stars instead of 5 stars for two reasons:1) The strings that come on the bass are round wound, sound very metallic, sound very scratchy, and buzz a lot. I thought I would have to do a set up. I started out by replacing the strings with a set of DR Hi-Beam Flat Wound SS strings (ASIN B00O48Z5FE). They appear to be heavier that the OEM strings. All problems solved!2) The only way to switch between the pickup (which sound very cool) is to roll back one pickup volume and roll up the other. I'm going to install a micro 3-way switch. Not a big deal for me, but I think should have been included in the design. Still for what the bass cost, most players can deal with turning the volume knobs. After all, how often does a player really do that? The Ibanez Mikro Short Scale Bass is a excellent instrument for new players and old players. I highly recommend it!Update: I installed a Switchcraft 3-Way switch. See the photo. Now, this is a 5 Star bass!4Finally a bass for us smaller players!I'm a petite female bass player, with smaller hands, playing for many years. I've always had to deal with longer necks, uncomfortable bodies and always had to compromise correct positioning to reach frets. I'm an Ibanez fan for years, so when I saw they had the MiKro series, I just had to give it a shot. For under $200, this is a cool bass! 28.5" scale, super lightweight, smaller body - pretty well made. It's had a major, positive impact on my playing and doesn't put added stress on my neck/shoulders playing for long periods of time. Nice find! I'm giving this a 4-star review because the electronics and hardware needed to be replaced/upgraded, but what do you expect for < $200! But I'm digging it so much, I'm getting another as a backup - and I'll leave it intact.4Just making noise.I'm not a bass player, always wanted to be one, just never got around to it. My guitars go untouched now days due to arthritis in my hands, but I find I can still hit "most" of the strings on the bass,so I got one. The Ibanez has a slender neck, easier to get my hands around, and sweet sounding pick-ups,I was really impressed with the quality for the money. So I can make some noise for a little longer. I think it was a great buy.5
