Real buttonsI bought a light box--different brand- a couple of years ago--I like them for making quilting and embroidery patterns. The old one had an on off touch sensor button on the left top that was so sensitive any slight touch would turn it off or change the brightness. Seriously--I swear blowing on it would turn it off. Frustrating. Was I happy to find one with regular buttons on the side---and magnets to hold paper in place. What a fabulous concept. From the photo it shows magnets on the top--but the whole screen is magnetic. It is the same size as my old one--only much lighter and thinner. How technology changes in such a short time. I bought the stand too--so I could use it on an angle. Could not be happier--gave the old one away. Would recommend this to a friend. I definitely recommend this product and the company!4Brighter than iPhone 6s+, when both are at their brightest setting.Things you should know: THIS WORKS SEPARATE AND APART FROM THE COMPUTER!!! It is not a tablet, it is not a screen, it is not a monitor, it does not connect to the computer in any way EXCEPT to provide power, which can also be accomplished through an outlet on the wall. So what the heck is it? It provides light through a sheet of paper or film so you can trace. It allows you to view items like an x-ray film, photo slide, photo negatives, etc. I bought it so I can draw my pictures, and then trace the finished work on card stock to make greeting cards without the need to erase sketch pencil marks.It has three buttons on the side of the light box. One is the power switch. The other two are brighten and dimmer switches.How bright is it? I have an iPhone 6s+. If I open a white note page and turn my iPhone light all the way to the top, and turn the light on the light box as bright as it can get, the light box is brighter than my iPhone 6s+. You can see pencil marks on a sheet of paper through heavy card stock.That being said, I have had plenty of experience with LED lights, or objects containing them. In my experience, LEDs can fade and burn out if they are left on for a length of time. SO, if you are not using the light box, do not leave the light on. Another thing to remember is the intensity of the light can effect the light s lifespan (light span?). So I suggest that you keep the light turned down as low as you can tolerate.What is the surface made of? It looks and feels like glass, but I think it s just a high quality form of plastic.Does it feel flimsy? Not at all. It feels very strong, for a $30 piece of equipment.Most light boxes do not provide a wall outlet ( which is why so many people confuse it with a computer tablet...the seller recommends plugging it into your computer for power). However, this light box is equipped with an outlet. It also come with four magnets to hold your paper on the light box. I have not tried using the magnets for this purpose, but I have tried sticking them on the light box surface, and they appear to be rather strong.The cords seem very strong in their port holes, and do not appear to wiggle.I do think the one I received was a return, based on the fact that the film protector on the glass and plug were peeled away from the surface. But it still works. I only hope the previous owner did not leave it on for a long time before returning it.5Nice while it worked...The design of the product regarding where the cable connection is, at the 'bottom' of the pad leaves something to be desired. While extremely happy with the product while it lasted, it has become more of a pain and nuisance due to the usb connection no longer being 'tight' allowing for powering up and operation of the tablet. Being sight impaired it was a blessing for me to use and write letters, able to 'follow the lines' with the light. The connection would perhaps be better suited on the other end of the device, where there would be much less potential for 'bumping' the connection and rendering the tablet powerless. As the connection no longer 'stays in place, it is essentially worthless and useless for me. Though I liked it while working, I would not buy it again given what I perceive to be a design flaw.3Fine product for a fine price!The light pad is just what I wanted for my drawing. The three light settings let me adjust how much light I need to see my object through the paper without blinding me! I m glad I got the large size because it allows me to work with larger papers. The price is very affordable.5Outstanding craft and design toolWe had ordered a different light box as a Christmas present for our grandson and were simply blown away by the versatility of these new LED light boxes...especially for the price. I had won a rather high end ($120 retail) light box not long ago in a design contest and couldn't believe how versatile these new generation light boxes are for the price. My wife's sister does a decent amount of craft work and we thought she might like one of these, so we spent the extra few bucks and got this model that includes the four magnets to hold your work in place.LED, magnets, fully dimmable...and a $30 price tag! Our fancy light box isn't even dimmable! Seriously, if your light box has been around for a while you need to take a look at these. Just a little thicker than a pane of glass, touch controls, dimmable. Outstanding! The light is wonderfully even and it's just, well, sleek and slick. I absolutely love it. In fact, I strongly considered giving her ours and keeping this one because of the dimming feature but I thought that would be a little tacky, so we did the right thing, hoping she'll appreciate it as much as we did. I'm still thinking about ordering another one for myself - but that's a tough choice when I already have what's supposed to be a top of the line light box. But the light on mine isn't adjustable... Still thinking about it.One very small thing: The surface is marked on the top and left sides...in centimeters. I'm a geezer who will probably never convert so it would be really nice if maybe they could have marked the bottom and right sides in inches as well. I use this to trace my drawings onto thick watercolor paper. The third setting is the best for this. The A4 was too small so I returned it to get the A3 and this is a nice size. It's also very thin and very light! The first time I received it, the corner was cracked and I had to return it. please check your order before keeping it!5I would HIGHLY recommend this productI bought this for my wife for crafts and I use it as well to design vinyl graphics. It's thin, multiple brightness levels. We put a clear piece of vinyl over the top to prolong the top and protect from scratches. If your looking for a portable tracing light. I would HIGHLY recommend this product.5
