    Beautiful stocking, but cheap flossWould really love to give this kit 5 stars, but honestly the floss is terrible. The pattern is very intricate, with tons of color changes, so it took me forever to make. I haven t done any cross stitch for about 20 years, and this was my first kit going back into the craft. For myself, I would say it took around 300 hours to complete. But that was spread out over the course of a couple of years. I m sure it would have gone faster if I didn t set it aside for so long in between working on it. My biggest struggle with this kit however, was how cheap and crummy the floss is. I think I would have saved tons of time if it were better quality. As it was, the floss constantly knotted up on me, and even broke a few times. I frequently had to stop to untangle the knots and even had to rip out stitches several times to go back and undo knots on the back side that I didn t notice right away. Highly frustrating to say the least. Assembly of the completed stocking was easy with clear instructions. I also took one extra step and purchased some of that iron on backing just to make sure the threads stay locked in to make the piece last for years. It did turn out to have slightly less room inside than I expected, but it s still a decent size. Overall I love the stocking and am very pleased with the outcome. I have already started on the matching one for my daughter. My recommendation to anyone wanting to do this in a hurry though is to go out and buy your own high quality floss instead of the cheap stuff that s in this kit.4Cheap looking.I was disappointed with this kit. The thread is cheap and not as colorful as picture displays.2Easier than I expected.These were pretty simple cross-stitches (which I expected), and the glue/felt part was a LOT easier than I had expected after I first read the instructions. This is getting 4 stars instead of 5 because in order to properly set the backing to the ornament, you have to weight it down & it takes a considerable time to dry. I would ALSO recommend putting the hanging thread on BEFORE applying any glue - that part also caused a drop in the ratings. The instructions weren't hard to follow at all, although I didn't like the colour they said to use for them all as hangers so I used my own choices. Picture attached.4DisappointedI was very disappointed with this kit. The floss is not color numbered so you have to do a lot of guessing. I ended up giving it away as I don't need anything that will cause frustration. I really wanted to do this project. Will not purchase anymore of the Janlynn kits.2Looking forward to sharing this with my cousinI love it. After cross stitching for over 35 years I thought I would save myself time by purchasing a kit.I should have bought the pattern, and everything else on my own, I would have spent about one-third as much as the kit.1Wonderful quality Wonderful quality, the colors are true to the packaging and the floss is already separated. The background is solid light blue, so all the water and sand is created by stitching. I can't wait to get this project started. 5Tea cupsI am currently working on this and it is shaping up nicely. The kit was complete and the graph is particularly large which is a plus. I do a lot of cross stitch and have found Janlynn kits to be of high quality. The entire transaction was flawless.5This pattern is awesome and very detailedI purchased this kit because the pattern had personal meaning to me so I was willing to work with whatever it included. This pattern is awesome and very detailed, so detailed that I would recommend it to an experienced skill level. The kit itself was disappointing. I had several colors that had to be replaced. One color was wrong, it was more of another color and the black was poor quality and dull. The colors match to dmc colors so replacement from my local hobby store went well and there was ample floss in the kit to complete the project. The pattern itself although black and white was very large. I still used magnification because of the complexity of the stitch layout. I would buy another kit from this manufacturer but understand that you need to check all your colors and contents for quality and correctness. It should also be noted that my kit was missing the needle.4Floss was not color numberedBought the kneeling Santa.... the floss is not color numbered... so I am having to go through all of it and try to figure out what the color number is... there is over 30 different colors ... and 4 types of red... for instance...[hard to tell some of the colors apart as some shades are close color wise] I have never had a kit that did not have the floss color numbered on the floss holder.. and I am thinking about returning this ... I am very upset... also my cloth is not cut straight on line... so it is off .. putting it on the counted cross stitch scroll was difficult because the cloth was not cut like it should be... I know... I should just put it in the bag and send it back... but waited for it...so I am going to try to figure it out... already spent a couple of hours getting the floss off the card board thing they had it on... [with no color number..so I don't even know exactly what number it is to follow on the chart given] ~ trying to find what color each group of floss actually is... just trying to figure out what exactly I have here...not sure I have enough floss needed as of yet .. I just got the item today. But not a happy camper.2Great pattern to make a lasting gift for new parentsGreat pattern to make a lasting gift for new parents. The thread comes presorted on a card so they are not tangled together (nice touch). To my pleasant surprise, there were two squares of fabric to stitch on (another nice touch). The package includes a needle, too. Its a great kit!5
