It closes up very small and can fit in my purse or the bag that I carry my flute in. Pops right out and ready to use. A lot of my public flute playing is done at church, were you might just join the choir for a piece mid-service. So, sitting with your flute on your lap the entire service is tiresome and it is scary to leave a flute laying about. This stand allows me to put my flute in a safe, but accessible place near the piano, so I can just grab it when it is my time to play. Our minister of music is also a flute player and she admired how small and easy to set up this stand is, so I bought her one too as a gift.5German precision...K &M stands don t disappoint- very handy, the easy screw top slides down to release four legs, fits in your shirt pocket, and the flute sits secure. Recommend using it on a table top- the stand is small and you could bend or break the legs if stepped on.5Very convenientThis was bought for my daughter's school flute. Extremely convenient to be able to use to put the flute some place temporarily without having to put the flute back in the case.Only thing would like, which is not the fault of the stand, is if it would also fit in my daughter's flute case. We end up carrying it with us when she goes to music lessons to be able to use there as well.5The standard for flute stands. These stands are perfect for musicians that play in a pit because it takes up very little space. Especially those that are multi-instrumentalists. I ended up losing my original one I had from High school so I figured I would get another.Having my flute out on a stand at home makes it more likely that I will practice more often. I would recommend cleaning your flute after playing and setting it on the stand. Also there the potential for the flute to collect dust if not in use and that could affect the mechanisms.Where this stand shines is that is ultra-portable. It easily fits in a pocket or case and it s ready to use in seconds. Love this design. The trade off with it being so small and portable is that it isn t the most sturdy stand I ve seen. It won t topple over, but if you bump into it it will wiggle around.Don t hesitate to buy this.5The best compact / portable stand design on the marketI love this flute stand. I have both the piccolo and flute versions of this stand, and have used them for years. Compact size. Very stable. The only reason I bought a new one is because I lost the old one and had to replace it. I didn't consider other brands (I've had some in the past), since I love this one so much. I play semi-professionally and would recommend this to a musician of any level.5Great flute stand! This stand is wonderful! I play flute in a community band and 2 ensembles. A portable stand is a must - and this one seems very sturdy. Very easy to set-up and take down, too. Liked it so well I purchased another for a flute-playing friend! Would recommend!!5Piccolo stand, not a flute standIf you are ordering a piccolo stand, this is great! If you intend to purchase a flute stand (15232), this is NOT what you want. The picture is correct, but the item itself (the two times I ordered it, early November, 2019) is a piccolo stand (item 15262). As a piccolo stand, it is portable, sturdy enough, and durable enough. Because I also needed a piccolo stand, I kept the piccolo stand version of this that I ordered. I cannot judge the quality of the flute stand, since I received the piccolo stand.1Great little portable standI've used this stand for almost four years as my main and only stand, setting it up and breaking it down at least a few times per week, and the stand has held up very well. I use it during practice, at lessons, at rehearsals, and on stage. It has also survived being played with by destructive toddlers. I don't believe I've ever tested stepping on it, though. I can't speak for all units of this model, but mine has metal legs and a plastic body/peg.It may not be the most stable stand available, particularly compared with less compact models, but its stability should satisfy the needs of any responsible player: it takes a fair amount of force to push over a flute with your finger but probably wouldn't survive an accidental kick. I use mine daily on soft carpet and have never had my flute fall over. Considering its size, it's a good balance between stability and portability.5Great Design for Flute Players On the GoMy first thought was, "where are the legs?" Then I realized they were neatly tucked inside. The compact design is great and the product is made in Germany. I showed it to my private music instructor and she had no idea what it was at first. When I unscrewed the base and the legs came out, she loved it and ordered one too. I found it most sturdy on hardwood floors and carpeting that is not too plush.5K&M is A-OKI'm a professional musician, and I gave this flute stand to my sister as a gift (also a pro musician). What a great gift!Though my sister already has a flute stand, the flute stand she owns (the K&M model 15230) is bulky, does not fold up to a compact size, and has only three support legs. THIS K&M flute stand (model 15232) is perfect for fitting in your gear bag, or even in your pocket. (Like most all K&M stands, the legs fold up and screw inside the peg).My sis is a pit orchestra player, so having a small yet compact flute stand to rest her flute on is key. And this stand simply fits the bill. Some may argue that this stand is less sturdy and apt to tip. True, it may be less sturdy than, say, the Hercules brand one, but if you need a stand that occupies little space when set-up (and one that is sold for a decent price), this is the stand for you!5
