Customer Reviews

Great choice of music, but...I rated this CD down because of the order of songs. I like to visualize the movie as the songs play. Many of the songs are in a different order than in the film. It makes for a very disjointed listening experience. Vol. 2 is even worse. The variety of music was awe inspiring; not my first choice for the scene, but it worked...always! But, by putting songs out of order,, it interrupted the flow of the images of the film. Please stop doing that.3Great Soundtrack, Missing some of What made it GreatIf you have seen the movie, you know that the audio component is a sheer joy. This cd, as a packaging of that 5+ star sheer joy, is lacking and imperfect, not up to the standards of the movie. Here is what makes it flawed.A: It is missing at least 2 standout tracks that I very much want to listen to separate from the film:1) the Chinese Battle Music that plays during the Bride's fight with the Crazy 88's. The timpani, strumming, and crazy asian chanting are just absolutely delicious. this should not have been one of the first things to go if they needed to make room.2) Missing the "angelic" music that plays during the scene where the Bride views the collection of Honzo swords. A very pretty songs that I would have liked to have on the cd.Other gripes:B) The rapping by RZA (who generally did a teriffic job composing here) on "ode to Oren Ishii" is not good at all. The score as it is in the movie would have been fine. Instead, they changed the track, and it actually is painful to listen to him rap over the beautiful bit of music. I have nothing against rap, it's just not good. I feel like I can hear him trying to think up rrhytms and rhymes and missing a number of them. Someone should have noticed this and said, "tis isn't up to par, either do another rap or we'll leave it isntrumental as in the movie."I have no other real gripes except that the sequence is not chronological and it doesn't sound especially wonderful in the sequence they have it, so I'm not sure what the point of putting it out of seuqnece is. Also, the dialogue tracks are not really necessary. If they were to be icluded, this should have been chronological and they should have been inserted at approriate points. On the whole, this film has a wonderful soundtrack. Unfortunately, whoever produced this cd did a job of packaging it which I feel is really quite mediocre. The graphics and all are quite nice. The disc itself is rather poorly composed.3If you like Kill Bill, Than you will love this soundtrack!.Kill Bill Vol. 1 was one of the master piece from Quentin Trantino which I strongly recommend watching movie if you haven't seen yet. I believe the movie became master piece came from this wonderful soundtrack that fit perfectly to the movie situation. Great soundtrack to own if you like the movie!.5Taratino does it again!!Can you ever go wrong with the musical score for Tarantino's movies, for that matter I don't think one can ever go wrong with Tarantino. His movies are the complete package, and the musical score for this wonderful movie is no exception. Love it a lot!! I have the CD in my car and listen to it often. The delivery was very speedy and the packaging was very speedy. Highly recommended to all Taratino movie buffs in particular and lovers of quality movie scores in general!!5All Killer, No Filler!I recieved my copy of the "Kill Bill Volume 1" Cd yesterday, and immediately socked it into the car stereo to listen to on my way to work... Well, I'll tell ya... From the opening notes of Nancy Sinatra's take on "Bang Bang" to the "Ironside Theme" exerpt, I was totally BLOWN AWAY by the sound quality and song selection. As a musician who records his own music, I'm fairly critical about the sound quality of the Cds I collect. Most of them come from the 60's "Psychedelic" era I grew up with and were transfered from old analog tape masters... Some sound better than others, and I give them quite a bit of leeway considering the available recording methods at that time. However, I expect a certain clarity from "Modern Era" digital recording methods in my 'newer' stuff... On the "Kill Bill Volume 1", whoever did the sound levels and mixing, did a FANTASTIC job! I found myself bopping around in the drivers seat to the music as I drove to work. My favorite songs are: ."Run Fay Run" (Issac Hates)- The Song grabs you from the first note, and doesn't let go. ."Twisted Nerve" (Bernard Herrmann) - Spooky and deiicious! ."Woo Who" (The 5,6,7,8s) - Goofy as hell, and a cool drum solo that you can't hear very well in the film. ."The Lonely Shepherd" (James Last & Gheorghe Zamfir) - Builds and builds in layers of emotion. ."Green Hornet" (Al Hirt) - I defy anyone to listen to this without tapping your toes to it! I will be listening to this for a long time to come... Great production, Great music, Great song selection! One word of caution, though... Do not play the 'Queen of the Crime Council' dialog track in front of young children because it is EXTREMELY explicit! I highly recommend this Cd to soundtrack and music lovers alike! It's all KILLER, NO FILLER! Peace.5Fav ostOne of my favorite soundtracks as a lp, its a must for any kill bill fan.5Waiting for the return of Kill Bill 3Some really good music. I have been known to buy a 33rpm record ( I'm dating myself ) for one cut, This album has several that I like.4Bloody Good CD!I recommend this CD for anyone captivated by the movie; it's great from beginning to end with one notable exception. The CD contains the entire tracks of several pieces of music that are only heard in excerpt in the actual movie, including a 10-minute version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (which kinda gets old after a while, but overall it's a cool tune). "Battle without Honor or Humanity" is the instrumental played when Oren Ishii and her personal bodyguards (including Gogo, the bodyguard dressed as a Japanese schoolgirl) are walking in slow-motion as they enter the House of Blue Leaves (one of my favorite scenes in the movie, for some reason). "Flower of Carnage" is, despite its title, a beautiful ballad in Japanese. (I wonder how the lyrics translate?) The only track on the CD that I dislike (and I strongly dislike it) is "Ode to Oren Ishii" by RZA, which is a rap song about Oren that sounds like it was written by a five-year-old, so lame are the lyrics. "I wanna dedicate this song right here to O-Ren Ishii, Half Chinese/Half Japane-see, Half American." Half Chinese, half Japanese, half American . . . is that mathematically possible? And ryhming "Ishii" with "Japane-see" -- is "Japane-see" a real word? Sorry, but the song annoys me! My only other quibble is with the sound effects at the end of the CD (axe throws and sword swings): they don't sound like axe throws and sword swings; rather, they merely sound like electronic noise, which clearly works fine in the movie, but at only a very few seconds each these little sound bytes don't add anything to the CD. I'm complaining too much, though -- 95 percent of the CD is terrific, so I say buy it!4Worth the purchaseWhile not every song suits me and some of the clips are really dumb and just a few seconds (clips from the movie), overall, I love it as I've rediscovered some great jams from my youth (Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood) and also discovered great songs from the 60's (Nancy Sinatra). Well worth the price.5Woo-Hoo!If you loved the movie, you'll love the soundtrack. And, if you are a figure skater, excellent choice for program music! It also makes terrific background music for playing battlegrounds in World of Warcraft. :)5
