Customer Reviews

Almost perfect! I'm a gigging musician who just got his 1st IPad to store all of his set songs/words. I must admit, using an IPad for this is sooo convenient with no big song binder/pages to lug around that gets blown by the wind as you gig. Back to the holder - Like all K&M products, this one is solid and no different. Here's my assessment:Pros:- reasonably simple w/ not very many moving parts.- easy to setup on a mic stand for a gig.- additional arm prevents your expensive IPad from falling thru the bottom if you forget to lock it.- Unlike the other K&M holder, this one can be used with an IPad that is enclosed in your favorite protective case.Cons:- spread locking mechanisms are not easy to activate.- pivot lock on the bar does not lock as you would expect it to. You can lock the knob but rotating the assembly loosens the locking knob.Caution - If you are gigging with a cheap mic stand that is not the weighted K&M base type, you may have weight bias after attaching which makes your stand easy to tip. To help solve that issue, just make sure one of the mic stand legs are positioned directly beneath the holder. You can also place you gig bag or other counter weight on the legs opposite the holder. All in all, this is the holder that will hold my expensive IPad for my gigs from now on. I could only give it 4-Stars because well, it's almost perfect! 4Nice holder Despite what the others say. The instructions to put this together was easy, fast and simple. Unit is strong and holds my iPad Pro in its case.Since I don't plan on using this for any other devise it's adjusted to fit. Plain and simple. You can adjust this in many different angles and its easy to adjust.Very well built. 5K&M Universal Tablet Holder used with an Apple iPad Air 2 The universal tablet holder was purchased for my iPad Air 2, to mount on a mic stand. The design appears adequate to safely use my iPad in a portrait position. I'm using the Apple case and there is no reason I need to remove my case to place it in this holder. The iPad is easily removed from the spring loaded arm. As noted by others the weight factor needs to be considered so that your stand is not off balance or un-sturdy. Position your mic stand legs correctly and counter balance the holder if needed. It appears solid with no reason to think it will not hold up to use. 5This is the one to get if you want to be able to keep your tablet in its protective case and use a wide variety of tablets! Incredibly high quality universal tablet holder. Head and shoulders above many others in build quality although there are a couple of cheap plastic pieces that may eventually break. Even the cheap pieces seem more robust than most other stands I have looked at. Marking it down one star because the locking rotation feature means that unless you keep it exactly perpendicular with your body, it appears to be a bit angled or askew. In other words, if you like to angle your tablet slightly towards yourself instead of sticking out at a perfect right angle to the mic stand, you cannot angle it on the horizontal axis without it appearing slightly out of level across the top. Although the locking rotation (four positions) at first glance seems to be a good idea, it would actually be better if you could either adjust it or if they did away with the locking rotation entirely and allowed you to freely adjust the rotation wherever you wanted. The other issue is that they should probably include a 4th restraining bracket/claw so that there is no orientation in which the tablet can slip out in the event it is knocked just the right way or something gets hooked on it. However, it does grip the tablet well and the chances of this are low, but you know how Murphy's Law works. Love the fact that it accommodates a huge variety of tablets with the case and screen protector on. Overall I highly recommend this product, especially if you would like to keep your tablet in a protective case while it is on the stand, very well made. 4Solid build, painful to assemble/adjust Pros: Super sturdy, holds a tablet in a heavy case, mounts to large pole sizes, includes five year warranty.Cons: Indredibly difficult to assemble, instructions are confusing, took twenty minutes to initially set up and adjust. This stand includes three full pages of assembly and adjustment instructions. Holding the unbalanced guard arm against the swivel joint while simultaneously sliding the swivel joint teeth into the tablet cradle is an exercise in futility. Then start the whole process over when you take it apart to make adjustments.I will be keeping the stand, but I d be hard pressed to ever recommend it to anyone. You should seek out alternative options. 2Holds iPad Mini and full size iPad's securely, yet delicately. Works perfectly with both my iPad 2 and iPad Mini (though you will need to readjust it if you change back and forth between different size tablets). Holds them all firmly without damaging them whatsoever. The holder can be removed from the included arm and mounted directly to a microphone stand with a 3/8" thread. If your mic stand has a standard 5/8" thread, then you'll need a 5/8" female to 3/8" male thread adapter to make it work. 5Sturdy versatile tablet holder w one minor shortcoming. I've had this device for only a week and have used it for only one gig, so I can't say anything about its longevity, but so far, I'm finding it to be versatile and sturdy for the tablet part of my ASUS Transformer (10.1"). One reviewer said that it will not stay put in either landscape or portrait orientation (forgot which), but I haven't had that experience. There are detents that seem to "click" into place when you're in one orientation or the other, but it's a subtle click. Some assembly is required but the instructions are well written and illustrated. I have it clamped to the silver shaft of a Manhasset music stand and even though the arm sticks out, you don't get the sense that the stand will topple. Portability could be better, however. I wish it would somehow fold flat, without having to disassemble the whole thing. One step toward better portability would be to make the guard arm (the thing that sticks out to the left in the picture) retractable, or at least rotatable so that it lies in the plane of the tablet cradle when transporting. This would make it a five-star product. 4It works with an Apple Ipad Pro 12.9 but just barely It's called a "universal" tablet holder for a reason. An Ipad 12.9 will work with it--that is without a cover for the tablet--but just barely. The spring-loaded expansion piece could be an inch longer to feel more secure. Still, I am able to use it. It is probably perfect for the 10.5" Ipad pro. But for reading sheet music, I prefer the 12.9.On a separate but related topic, if you are considering the stand for reading music, I recommend the "Forscore" software and the Airturn BT106 pedal for turning pages. The Forscore application works seamlessly. Here's how: 1. Download the Forscore application to your tablet. 2. Convert your music (or lyrics if you are a singer) into a pdf file. 3. Email the pdf file to yourself. 4. Go to your email application on your tablet (I use gmail) and click on the email that you sent to yourself. Then click on the pdf document that you attached in the email to yourself. 5. The pdf document will open. When pdf file is opened, click on the upload computer symbol (an arrow pointing up) located in the upper righthand corner of the pdf document. Scroll right to find the icon for forscore and click on that. The document is magically added to your collection of forscore documents. Very cool. 4Great 10.1" tablet holder I am very pleased with this device, it was the perfect solution to the problem of how to use my tablet as a music book easily and with no worries. I own an ASUS Transformer, a tablet with a 10.1" screen format. This holder securely holds it to my mike stand. I have no fear that the tablet will crash to the stage floor during a performance or rehearsal.Setting it up can be a bit tricky, since there is a locking mechanism that has to be released before the holder can be expanded to take this larger sized tablet. Once that is accomplished there is three point support for your device in portrait or landscape mode. There are detents to ensure that the tablet doesn't turn too easily. 5Works great with a thick case! Assembly took a few minutes. This holder is SO much more secure and useful than the cheaper "Ultimate" holder I tried. It fits my 5th Generation 9.7" iPad in a moderately thick dual layer case with room to spare. The spring-loaded foam padded cradle arms hold the iPad gently but securely. It seems pretty unlikely that it would slip out in portrait orientation but the metal hook arm means you can be absolutely sure. The stand clip section seems overbuilt and reassuringly heavy. The cradle arms are made of plastic, so I won't be leaving this on my mic stand all the time and tossing it in the back of my truck (the way I do with the K&M clip-on drink holder).Still, I haven't seen any other device out there I would rather be relying on for using my iPad to read music in high-pressure situations. It is convenient and secure and with some care in handling I expect it will hold up. 5
