Customer Reviews

What a disappointment!I bought this strap several weeks ago - I received it and was very happy with it - it's a nice thick comfortable strap. So I decided to buy it again for another guitar. What a disappointment! It was nominally the same strap except much flimsier and thinner - the picture may not show real clearly that the one on the left is much flimsier than the first one I got, on the right. But it is immediately apparent in person and upon handling it. The weight of the first strap was 10 oz. - the weight of the second one was 8 oz., 20% less.It will still work but it's a lot of money to pay for inconsistency and cheaper flimsier material. You'd think for the price they'd have better quality control and be more consistent. But you'd think wrong!2This is a great, comfortable all cotton strapThis is a great, comfortable all cotton strap. It is strong and thick enough to hold a heavy instrument yet still easy to adjust quickly. The quality is definitely much higher than represented in the ad picture. It's very well worth the price and exceeds any other strap that I know of in quality at that price point. The only suggestion that I would make to Levys is that perhaps they can make a version with Schaller or Dunlop pre-cut holes already made at the ends to accommodate those model strap locks . Since the strap is so well made and of tough leather materiel, it's a bid of a job to cut holes to accommodate strap lock models. that would definitely be very helpful.5Super comfortable under load, breathes well, breaks in quicklyI play 10+lb basses and have owned many, many straps and prefer them to be soft natural materials. I don't care for leather and neoprene (too sweaty underneath) or that nylon seatbelt material (the edges chafe). This strap breaks in very quickly and distributes weight effortlessly. You can easily play for hours comfortably. The length puts the adjuster away from where it contacts my shoulder unlike other straps. The hardware is all durable plastic so you don't have to worry about it scratching up your instrument. Dunlop straploks install pretty easily on it. I didn't care for the logo "button" but it is easily removed. Superb strap overall at a fair price and other bassists I know have gone out and bought one after using mine.5Looks and performs greatThe 3" width and heavy duty fabric really spread the load of a heavy bass guitar. Quality is excellent all around and the brown strap and leather ends look terrific with a natural wood finish bass. Adjustability is almost infinite, and a key reason for purchase. My only complaint would be that the rear plastic piece rubs on the bottom of the guitar. This could be solved by a longer leather piece. Make no mistake, though....I love this strap.5A better than expected all aroundI have been looking for a comfortable bass strap with some grip. This strap is comfortably wide, but not too wide.Similarly it has some grip but not too much - from the heavy-weight cotton has just enough grip that I can't slide the strap over my shoulder without pulling my shirt with it.It is not too bulky like the leather straps, and rolls up small which makes it much easier to travel with and fits well into the storage compartment in my case.As I said, it has enough grip for me but it does not grip as well as the suede backed straps, but it does not shed everywhere either like the suede straps do, which earns it an extra star. This strap is also simpler to adjust than the threaded leather straps and adjusts from short to much longer.I also like that this strap does not have the leather hide smell that bothered me with the Levy's leather straps. The styling is understated, and I actually prefer it now that I see it in person, it lets the instrument stand out and since I rarely wear leather clothing the feel of the cotton is form fitting and comfortable, it even feels okay if I am not wearing a shirt. The end hole fit almost perfectly over my strap buttons without bunching, but tight enough, better than most other straps I have tried. Before this I tried several Levy's leather straps on my bass, including the padded "Levy's Leathers MSS1-BLK Veg Tan Leather Guitar Strap, Black" and "Levy's Leathers M4GF-BLK 3-1/2-inch Garment Leather Bass Guitar Strap with Foam Padding and Suede Backing, Black" but this is my favorite.I was going to give it four stars, but I can't find a single fault with it, so it gets five.5Great quality and comfortI wear my bass slung on the lower side and being a bigger guy, I needed a strap that could extend a bit longer than a regular guitar strap. This strap gave me the length I needed and still has at least another foot of adjustment left. I had previously ordered the extra long version which actually turned out to be way more than I needed. It is made from a thick cotton weave that feels tough like denim, yet soft to the touch. The leather end pieces are super thick which is nice from a durability standpoint, but can also be a drawback, as it actually prevented me from installing schaller strap locks, but the Dunlop type went on with no problem. I wound up getting one of these straps for each of my gigging basses and they have performed well for the last 6 months.5The loving caress of cottonSuch a great strap. I've been using various leather straps for 40+ years. I decided to give this one a try. Wow, the comfort level is much better than leather. The strap is super well made, thick with sturdy buckles and ends.5Great, light Levy cotton strap, but ...I am tall with a bad back so was already using a padded leather Levy 3 1/2" XL strap, and it works great for my heavier guitars. But I wanted something lighter for a 6.2-pound guitar but it still needed to be wide enough to take the weight off my back and long enough for my height. The MSSC4 is one of the few straps that will go to 60 inches long without having to pay more for the XL model, and being that it is cotton -- though very thick cotton -- it is light compared to the leather straps. It is very well made as are all Levy straps. But as with the other Levy strap I have, I still have major problems installing strap locks because of the thickness of the leather ends. It takes a lot of patience and then a tool and elbow grease to get the nut started on the strap lock. Since all the strap locks I would consider using are the same length, you'd think Levy by now would take their use into consideration and make an indent for the washer. I know of no one who doesn't get headaches trying to install strap locks on a Levy. But otherwise, they are the best straps I've ever seen.5This is a nice strap. Pretty comfortableThis is a nice strap. Pretty comfortable. I use it with a heavy bass guitar. While this is a typical strap design, with two plastic strap adjusters, the plastic adjusters are pretty heavy duty compared to a typical planet waves strap. Also, the cloth is nice. It spreads the load better than some straps, but can still start the shoulder aching after a while. I'm still searching for a version with metal adjusters and some sort of slight comfort stretch in the fabric. This strap is wider than most and may be uncomfortable if you are not a "full size man".4Great long, budget, strapI needed a very long strap. I am on a very tight budget. I tried to guess the best quality I could within those limits. I am very happy with this strap. The only thing I can say to those reading reviews is the strap "hardware" is semi-flexible plastic. It's not top quality or even mid tier, but it will do the job at the budget price. I would recommend this product to anyone with the same requirements and limitations I had.5
