    Great value for beginnersI am a first time knitter. I read reviews in wooden vs metal knotting needles. I ultimately decided to go with wood because I read a lot of reviews stating that the yarn slips off the metal much easier than wood. As a beginner I wanted to make it as easy as possible to start off. I also had no idea what size needles I would need, so the fact that there are several different sizes (most of which I probably wont use) was a great option to have. When I looked in to buying one specific size set the cost was not much cheaper than buying this whole set, so I feel it is a great value. I am not disappointed thus far. Ps- has been working great to make basic kitchen rags5Nice needles, but might splinterWhat s not to understand about knitting? It s very simple. However, the needles you buy can make a big difference in your end project.I ordered these because I was a beginning knitter and I wanted to get some environmentally-friendly needles. I started using them and the yarn didn t slide around on them much. This was great for me.I started knitting a scarf for practice. I was somewhere in the middle of making it when the ball end fell off the needle. I suppose it could be fixed with super glue, but that s inconvenient. I kept knitting and eventually what happened is I got a splinter from part of the needle breaking off for no reason. It must have been 1/4 inch deep in my skin. I removed the splinter and fixed up my hand, then got back to knitting. It may have been an oddly painful experience, but these needles hold the yarn in place.5No More Slipped StitchesI am a new knitter and was gifted a large assortment of long, metal knitting needles. My current project is knitting a small scarf for my 4 year old. My stitches kept slipping off of the ends of my metal needles. I searched some forums for suggestions. One suggestion was to buy cheap, bamboo knitting needles. It was the perfect solution. I haven t had any slipped stitches, yet the stitches slide easily from one needle to the other. The size is perfect, too, for this smaller project. My other needles are 14 in., which was bulky for the scarf, but these 10 in. needles are just right.5Great, But Is There A Supplier Issue?I was apprehensive about purchasing this set because of the inconsistent reviews. My set are great, smooth as even specialty yarns moving freely on the needle points and shafts. So far I have used 3 different size sets. It appears there is a shellac or varnish coating on mine and the density or irregularities in evenness of the application may account for some of the problems some purchasers have had. It makes me wonder if all have a finish or there is more than one source for the needles or perhaps many different people handling the production of them. The length is good for small projects but I would not use them for large items. I am a long time knitter but not an expert and I felt the items I got were great.5Some tips are pointy others are more dull even in the same sizeAfter writing my review, the company graciously reached out to me offering to either give me a refund or send out a new set of needles. I opted to accept a new set of needles hoping for an improvement. The needles are not noticeably different than what I got the first time. I still contend they are ok for the price. Really, you get a lot of needles for a good price. But, don't set your expectations too high. These are not $80 needles so don't expect to get $80 quality for $7.99 that's not what you're going to get.The nice thing is, you can rest assured, if you don't like what you get the company stands by their product and will return your money. That's worth giving them a shot.These are ok for the price. Some are warped. Some tips are pointy others are more dull even in the same size, i.e., my 6mm one is pointy the other is a lot less so. The finish varies, some are more smooth than others. BUT, for the price, you can't complain too much.4It just seems like the process flows better and the yarn moves more ...I prefer wooden needles to metal when I knit. I don't know. It just seems like the process flows better and the yarn moves more smoothly when I use wooden needles. This set has a good variety of sizes. I have noticed the needles tend to warp a little. About halfway through a scarf I was making, I noticed one needle was curved when I started with two straight needles. The other needle was fine. I do tend to knit pretty tightly and probably put a lot of pressure on the needles while knitting, however the fact only one needle warped makes me think I just received a needle with perhaps not as much quality as the other needles. A fluke needle. It still knits well, and did not splinter, it's just an adjustment to make while knitting. A very short time after reaching the halfway point on my scarf, I lost interest and made a hat. You can see it in the photos. These needles are a great price for the number you get. I've only tried the larger sizes. I am looking forward to trying out the smaller sizes. The smallest size is quite tiny, and I'm afraid I will probably break it if I look at it too hard, but I'll get around to experimenting with it eventually.4Better than I expected!For the price tag and amount of needles included, I had my doubts. This was due to owning a single pair of Takumi needles that cost more than this huge set.They came quick and well packed. Each needle is etched with size near the top, so it won't rub off. The bamboo is smooth enough to use as is, but I did take 0000 sandpaper to mine just in case and rubbed with a microfiber cloth with a tiny amount of mineral oil for smoothness. The tips are not as narrowly pointed as Takumi's, but they work just fine. I plan to order a set for my best friend soon, too.Why 4 stars and not 5? I believe 5 stars to be the score for the best, most hassle free, smoothest sailing items out there...right out of the box. Life changing good. These are fantastic, but they aren't the very best. Are they worth buying? Sure! Just remember the price paid and remember what a great deal it really is. Good starter set, better as back up travel fun.You won't be disappointed.4Length?They are 9" long, since the description doesn't specify on here.5Smooth, sturdy, and just as expectedNeedles are inscribed with their sizes directly on them, very useful. The set even came with a paper card with size gauges on it, which I appreciate.Can't attest to the durability yet, as I just got them, but they're really nice to start with. Smooth, light weight, and straight, exactly as portrayed. They give a tiny bit of grip on the yarn, which helps prevent the yarn from slipping easily, so great for beginners or people who are slightly clumsy. I highly prefer these over metal ones because I like these qualities and that it is a more eco-friendly material option that metal products. If you enjoy working with wooden material, these are great, they so far they havn't splintered or caught the yarn in a cumbersome manner. I imagine you have to be a bit gentle handed with them, as with any thin, wooden instrument, but they seem adequately sturdy if used appropriately and I'm not concerned about it.I wish there was an option for a smaller size range, I really only wanted sizes 5mm-9mm but for the price and quality it's worth getting the whole set.5Great for beginnersThese needles are wonderful for beginner knitters because they provide a grip for the yarn. I have been using them for about a week now. The only thing I do not like about them is it is hard to see the size of the needle that is embedded on the side of the needle. I am thinking about color coordinating them and making a chart for myself so I am easily able to grab the size I need. For the price the quantity and quality are good especially for a newbie knitter like myself. Yes, I would recommend these knitting needles if asked.5
