My favorate yarnI love this yarn. I use a very large hook about a 11, sometimes up to a 15. I find if I use to small of a hook it is hard to see the stitches and the pattern of my work seems to get lost in this type of yarn. This is my favorite yarn to make blankets out of. It is super soft, warm and cuddly. The colors in this particular style are rich and beautiful. If you are a beginner it is a bit hard to learn with because you can't see your stitches well but it does hide mistakes well to.5Beautifully variegated, soft and thickYarn was received on time and without issue. Even prettier than expected! Very soft and while it didn't look so thick as I crocheted, the end result was surprising. I made a shrug, but it would be fantastic for hats, scarves even a blanket or shaw. This was the first time to use this particular type of yarn, so the shrug didn't turn out as expected. Could have been too tight on my sritching, so will have to try another; otherwise I love the yarn. The price was a great deal, but I went back to order more and it had gone way up. But if you can get it on sale it's well worth buying5Something's wrong with this yarn...I ordered 3 skeins to finish a project in the same color and brand of yarn I had started with. One was good. The yarn of the other two skeins broke down constantly into short, fluffy, very messy fibers. I "finished" the piece, but it is a mess because the yarn is quite substandard. It is shedding balls of fluff, the yarn has no definition, the stitches look uneven because the yarn is of varying thickness. It is a waste of my time to use such shoddy material.2Different, but will workBought some to make a mermaid-tail blanket, but the skeins I got from Amazon are a quite a bit fatter (more loosely twisted) than the two skeins I had from the store so I had to start the blanket part over and save the tighter skeins for the tail. I love the softness and colour of the yarn, but use a fat needle or it's next to impossible to work with (I'm using P 11.5mm), but still 4 stars because I got exactly what I ordered. (Pic: The yarn from the craft store is on top; yarn from Amazon on the bottom)4I have used at least 30 skeins of this brand ...I have used at least 30 skeins of this brand and never had a single problem. Maybe it's just this color, but the yarn fell apart as I was using it. I have read several reviews that have stated the same thing, and I dismissed those reviews because it hadn't happened to me. In addition to falling apart as I used it, the yarn itself is poorly made. This Barley Thick and Quick is the only one I've had a problem with. I'll keep buying Lion Brand and crocheting with it, but I won't buy this color again.2Would not recommendPurchased the Thick & Quick by accident, so it didn't meet my needs and was too much hassle to return for one skein of yarn. Having said that, I would not recommend this type of yarn, it is extremely difficult to work with as there is a line that runs through the yarn that snags on almost every stitch. The only way to work with this yarn is to work each stitch slowly, so the project becomes long and drawn out. Beward of this yarn. Yes, it is soft, but it doesn't hold it's shape well and the afghan I made came out looking homely and misshapen.2SO softI bought this yarn locally to knit myself a big comfy throw, but the store had only 3 skeins and I thought that would not be enough. Luckily, Amazon had an exact match (same dye lot number if you can believe that!!!) so I ordered 2 more just to be on the safe side. Turned out, my blankie only needed one, so I made a scarf out of the last one. There have been a couple cold days here when it was very appreciated - i can wrap it around my face, ears and nose, and it is warm and soft, not at all scratchy, which one might expect. I would have given it 5 stars except for the uneven thickness (which actually makes for a very attractive knitted piece) tends to catch up in the point of a knitting needle and makes it hard to tell one stitch from the next.4and 8 of those skeins were great. The other skein of yarn had many breaks ...I made an afghan using about 9 skeins of this yard, and 8 of those skeins were great. The other skein of yarn had many breaks in it. Not like the yarn was weak and pulled apart, but like it just stopped. Rather than having 1 long length of yarn, this skein of yarn had 5 or 6 shorter lengths. This meant I had knots all throughout one section of my afghan, and additional length was wasted in having to tie the ends of all these lengths. It was very frustrating. Unfortunately, I didn't know it was a defective skein until it was far too late. The other skeins were perfect. The yarn was perfect for a thick cuddly blanket and the colors are gorgeous. The color variations are much prettier once the yarn is knitted/crocheted, because instead of being jumbled together as you see in the skein you will see there are streaks of all the different colors. I attached a picture so you can see the streaks. The colors are much better in person.4Looks great butI have purchased this 3 times before and never had an issue, however this time the yarn was completely different. Not only did it seem like it was not spun tightly enough but there were also 2 places that it had been connected or 3 pieces joined to make one reim. Because it was so loose it was very hard to work with.It is normally starts out in a pale light cream color which fades into a blue then to tan and ending in the white cream color again. I had not realized that there was no white a the end of the reim until I was 1/2 way thru my project. So it ended up with just a few rows of the cream where all the colors should have been equal amounts. Apparently when the connected the scarps to make a full reim they used what the had on hand.1I really like this homespun threadI really like this homespun thread. I'm new to crochet but I've done two scarfs and some hats in this thread so far and I just love the feel of it. Its acrylic and after reading reviews we just hand wash the items and let them air dry.The color of this is mottled. Green is the base undertone but it wanders into a rich stretch of reds and orange sand sometimes deep purples. It is not a feminine group of colors and I can't see it considered girly. Its earthy and warm. The thread that holds the yarn in its curl is dark green. I like that more then the lighter one I used that had white thread. I really can't see it at all. However, this stuff can be a pain to work with when you need very exact stitches. It just takes time to get used to the curl of the thread. I had to restart an infinity scarf three times before I got the pattern to lay flat and not twist when I looped back around. The work is well worth it and the colors compliment anything you are making.4
