Customer Reviews

Gorgeous fun...The colors of Cleansing Quartz complement S&P hair which is more brownish-charcoal and taupes. Usually create apparel pieces in jewel tones but have some neutral pieces which also coordinate perfectly with this yarn. (Colors are warmer than attached pictures portray.) Not a fan of sparkly but the metallic isn't very noticeable.Skein was consistently fingering weight with very little of of the 'thick/thin' quality mentioned in some reviews. No knots. Recommend making cake or rolling into ball before using as pulling from center caused skein to collapse, tangle. Has a deliciously soft hand and the high cotton content is nice in warmer climate. Blocked beautifully.Used about 360 yds for scarf based on Dillwyn pattern. The subtlety of the long, gradual color transitions made it easy to remove a portion of the black to balance with other colors.Despite nearly 55 years of knitting/crocheting, first time working with multi-colored or striping yarn. (Only started sewing print fabrics a handful of years ago.) So enjoyed working with this yarn, excited to try another color combo.ETA: Feng Shui Gray not the same enjoyable experience as CQ. Areas of poor quality, odd joins, parts with no twist and coarse fibers which had to be removed. Difficult to frog easily while settling on a suitable bind-off, fibers kept snarling. Very subtle blue-green cast in the gray which comes out when in close proximity to either of those colors. With skeins now having lesser yardage, results in fairly small shawl of this style (sz 9 ndl, 27"x60"). Despite issues, looks very nice, heavenly soft.5Don't pull from centerReally like this yarn. I'm using it to crochet a virus shawl. It has the look of something like noro, but is much more affordable. My suggestion is to not use the end tucked in the center to pull from. I did this, and it was a huge mess. This yarn likes to grab onto itself, also as it unwinds the skein comes loose and is hard to manage. Next time ill wind this into a cake before starting.5Community CoralI really enjoyed knitting a shawl with this yarn. It is soft, a little fuzzy and very easy to handle. I always choose fairly easy patterns, but I have knitted with a wide variety of yarns (from those purchased at Joann's to others from fancy yarn shops). I would happily use Shawl in a Ball again.5Great yarn!I love shawl in a ball. I have purchased several colors and love how they change. I have noticed though that the skeins that do not have the metallic added are different to work with. For example, I made a Tango shawl from the graceful green and had little to no trouble with tangles or knots in the yarn. It worked up beautifully and I was very happy with it. Then I attempted to make another shawl pattern with the healing teal that does not have the metallic added. The yarn changed size unevenly and seemed to tangle and knot with every round I did. I was no more than halfway through and I just gave up and went with a different shawl in a ball that had the mettalic and now it is working up fine. Which is sad because I love the healing teal colors. I am hoping that maybe I just got a crummy skein ( didnt get that one on amazon but at a local chain store) and that it will work out better next go around! So far though I am loving the namaste neutrals. I have a skein of restful rainbow and two of calming desert on my project list. I just love that you can make such a great item out of one skein. I typically make lots of things for gifts and they just are so pretty when worked up. Hope this was helpful!4Outstanding ColorwayI like this yarn and will buy again. They grey is a beautiful colorway with a nice long transition that works into rich gradient looking piece full of depth. The texture wasn't what I was expecting when I ordered it, but it is nice. It is a knobby yarn, like a fine boucl (or a lightweight lion brand homespun). The finished fabric is of a lighter weight than I expected. I ended up changing my pattern to a tighter weave corner-to-corner rectangular wrap and had to order a second ball to reach the size I needed for an adult sized piece. Using yarn from two different lots was not an issue because there is so many shades of color that there really isn't a repeat of color in a single skein anyway. The finished product has a nice soft light feel to it, but I would consider the piece to be a summer evening or a southern shawl rather than something one would rely upon for warmth. My wrap is about 18" wide, yet light enough to bunch up and wear as a long scarf. Also, be aware that any intricate pattern may be a challenge because of the knobby texture (it is hard to see the chains as in homespun). A pattern with a no chain start or something that works into spaces would be the ideal. Bamboo or plastic hooks/ needles will help to minimize the slipping. Also, blocking will be necessary for many projects made with this yarn. As far and the quality of the yarn goes, in two skeins I had one place that was broken and reknotted at the factory, but care was taken to not interrupt the color trantition so it wasn't a problem for me. I found no tangles at all. This may be a challenging yarn for novice knitters, but the fuss is worth the color and softness this yarn yields.4Pretty ball for a quick, small shawl! This is a beautiful, dynamic, self-striping yarn! The Restful Rainbow gradually works from purple to a vibrant yellow, coordinating with the rows, using a size J crochet hook. I didn't have any problems with knots, pulling from the middle. It's a pretty thin feeling yarn, so it seems like you would use a smaller hook, but I think you need to at least use the J, because of the texture. It's pretty twisty and nubby, which creates a nice texture that almost looks to feel rough, but is quite soft. There are some bits that are a little slubbier, but I like the character it adds. As recommened by another reviewer, a large shawl would need 2 balls. I'm making this one for my grandmother and she's quite tiny, so this will be just enough to drape over her shoulders and pin at the chest, if she wants.5Manufacturing defects ruined my projectI ordered this yarn to make a lacy shawl. About a third of the way through the project, The yarn was defective, continuing through the rest of the ball. The metallic thread was not wrapped properly leaving bulky fluffy yarn that I could not use. The texture and thickness did not match the shawl, and cutting these segments out and knotting them left ends that could not be neatly woven in. My project is ruined. The picture shows the good yarn on the right and only some if the segments I cut out. The yarn is very pretty, just don't use it in anything that is fine gauge and won't accommodate weaving in or knots1Perfect for this designer.I love this yarn. I am a knit/crochet designer so I like to be able to use a yarn that most of my buyers will find pleasing to the touch and affordable enough for me to price my goods at a great value. This yarn works on so many levels. It is reasonably priced, well made and comes in a fantastic range of colors. It also works well for those with wool allergies as it is cotton and acryllic. The long stretches of colors gives me wonderful color changes and one skein can make a shawl or two scarves. I can make a beautiful sweater with 3-4.5I love this yarn.I was cruising the craft section at Walmart when I saw this yarn. I fell in love with the autumnal color mix, but didn t buy. When I went back, it was all gone, so I bought it from Amazon. This yarn is amazing! These colors are amazing. The Restful Forest blend is a variegated, ranging from gold to russet to turquoise to purple to indigo. They are bright, clear colors, suitable for fall. The yarn is a two ply, like baby yarn. It is well spun and quite even. It is meant to be light and lacy. I used it to knit a shawl, using size 15 needles, and I really did get a shawl out of one ball.5Very beautiful yarnI bought two of these in a store and loved them but I needed two more for a sweater I'm working on. I couldn't find more locally so I was ecstatic that I found them here. The last yank had multiple strands tied together and the lengths were not color coordinated. It was a pain to cut the ties and reform the lengths so that the graduated colors were pleasing instead of jarring . The yarn is worth every penny that I paid for it and it was only the one yank that I had a problem with.4
