Customer Reviews

Recommended only for tall Ortofon cartridgesWorks well only with tall cartridges like OM, OM Super, or P-Mounts with an adapter. For small Shures, Stantons, Audio Technicas, etc, I can't even get the tone arm low enough for proper VTA.4Ortafon, As good as it gets.. Ortofon doesn't make anything that's not high quality. This is no exception. Easy to install & it was surprisingly easy to pop in my Ortafon cartridge.Five Stars 5Nice quality, but there are quirks with this headshell.Nice quality, but. Handle raise is high, so it touches cover of my TT. The main horizontal plate of this head is raised off the tonearm, so my Denon DL-103 was sitting do deep, the bottom of vertical plate of this headshell was touching LPs! Beware of that! If you're using something like regular AT headshells, your cart will sit much deeper (higher in relation to headshell-tonearm attachment axle) and may not provide enough clearance for the bottom of this headshell. I had to buy 3mm spacer to use with DL-103 cart. I also had to lower the resting point of the cart when it's not playing so i can close dust cover without bumping into headshell handle. May be this headshell profile is optimized for taller carts.Otherwise quality is solid, look is nice and clean, cart installation is simple.3Very sophisticated headshell with enlogated cue armI like the quality and the blue finish. Gold ends attach firmly to the cartridge. Hardware is included for mounting your favorite cartridge. Nuts have grooves for your fingers to grasp while tightening the screws. I could not tell any major difference in sound quality from my Technics headshells. But the enlogated arm for cueing tracks is my favorite feature.4Works great and I absolutely love the extended and curved finger ...I bought this headshell for my 1978 Yamaha turntable I purchased new. I found my original Ortofon OM 20 cartridge and thought I would buy a cartridge shell for it so I could swap out the OM 20 and my Ortofon 2M red which resides on the original Yamaha shell. Works great and I absolutely love the extended and curved finger grip. This makes it very easy to position the needle for precise drops. wires were strong and the connections are gold plated and fit perfectly. And as a bonus, the price makes this purchase a bargain. Highly recommended.5Ortofon SH-4 Headshell I installed the Ortofon P-Mount Cartridge Adaptor on to this headshell and it looks fantastic and then plugged the cartridge in to the adaptor. All I have to do now is just plug this headshell in to my turntable tonearm and run a test to see how good the cartridge sounds. 4Attractive headshellThis is a nice headshell, it looks great with stainless/chrome tonearms.I recently purchased a used turntable which didn't include a headshell or cartridge and wanted a headshell to complement my tonearm, I liked the look of this one in particular because it has a more premium look than most of the others on Amazon. UnboxingWell packaged in a premium looking plastic container, secured well within. Cartridge mounting bolts are included in the box. ConstructionMade from aluminum, matte appearance. It feels solid to me, and looks great. The larger finger lift is nice for big fingers. All terminals are gold plated, and fit the cartridge I got for it exactly. SpecsWeight: 0.94gLength: 51.5mmFinger lift length: 27mm I attached this to a Audio-Technica AT95E cartridge, it fits perfectly aside from the long wires on the headshell having to be pushed back a little. Pretty standard.PROS:+ Nice looking+ Solid feel+ Gold plated connectors+ Larger finger lift+ Well packagedCONS:- The larger finger lift on my table at least bumps into the top of the dust cover when the tonearm is returning, so with the dust over down the tonearm will not re-seat. Not a biggie for me, as I rarely play it with the dust cover down.OVERALL:Really nice headshell, there isn't that much to these things so appearance for me was the main deciding factor.Highly recommended!5WONDERFUL UPGRADE to your Existing HeadshellThis is leaps and bounds BETTER than the original Headshell you have from the factory whether your Turntable is OLDER or new and came with a Plastic unit. The Lightweight Aluminum construction is well balanced, features an extended Finger lift for effortless cueing. Gold Terminals for the ToneArm and Gold plated leads for your Cartridge/Stylus providing a Better Audio signal! They also come in a gang of Colors for different looks on your setup depending on your preference etc.Buy it now and THANK ME later!5Quality but to tall and hits dust cover Bought this for my Technics SL-D3 that has the original dust cover, and this head shell scraps the cover. The handle is very tall above the plane of the head it self. It prevents the mechanism from returning after play because of contact with dust cover. Quality otherwise 3Looks great, sounds even better...This thing is great and at the current price is a steal. I used it to mount an Ortofon 2M Bronze to a Yamaha YP-D4 and frankly I think it sounds better than with the stock headshell (which I like alot and am using on another deck). The azimuth doesn't seem to be adjustable but I could be wrong and the current orientation isn't a problem for the above setup. It's plenty rigid and I had no issues with the leads or the size of the finger cue. Very happy with this purchase!5Super easy to assemble and well worth the upgrade costBought along without the ortofon blue MM cartridge to upgrade my turntable. Super easy to assemble and well worth the upgrade cost.5Great fit and finish. High quality and great price.Great for a Technics SL-Q3 turntable and an Ortofon Super OM 10 cartridge. Great fit. Nice finish. Well made. High quality. Solid. Sounds excellent. Nice finger lift. Only potential concern is if you have your tone arm lift set too high and you have a turntable with an auto return, the finger lift *may* scrape the underside of the dustcover or come very close to scraping it (on my Technics it cleared the dustcover probably by 2-3 millimeters). This is because the finger lift is a little higher than on a Technics headshell. I didn't have the problem but I could see it possibly happening on other turntables.5
