    Pure JoyAt the time I finally got this CD I haven't watched the movie in a long long time but I remember that I loved the movie and the music so I got the CD score.I listened to it and my mind was able to recall the beautiful images of Africa, the endless sky, the color, the people bend working in the farm. The music is just incredible - even if you did not see the movie. It's just set you soul in a fly. If you don't totally love it the first time you listen, then listen again - it grows on you. The music is evocative and inspiring. I have to say that I normally do not buy music from the movies. I just don't because I always thought the music is just background for the movie. In this case (and in case of The Red Violin) I am glad I made an exception.5Sweeping and Lush. Perfect Hamlisch Gem!Lush, sweeping musical soundtrack of a movie that is just that...lush and sweeping! An undertone of of sorrow that pervades the movie is also heard in the gorgeous music of this soundtrack. The haunting melodies, full of melancholy, yet so delightful it sweeps you away to the exquisite scenery of the movie, especially the scenes shot while flying over Africa. It is one of my favorite soundtracks, and the addition of Mozart's Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in A (K622), and the mellow, sweet version of "Let the Rest of the World Go By", only add to the listening pleasure of album. I must admit, however, it brings the movie back in such vividness that it sometimes makes me cry. Arrived quickly, and in perfect condition. Love it! There is a feeling of great expanse and openness, and yet an intimacy from the sense of place. I loved the film and the music/soundtrack gives place a physicality that allows the listener to soar, fly and safely return refreshed, renewed and inspired. It is transformative and more therapeutic than any anti-depressant on the market because this music has no limitations on the imagination or the constraints of our daily stressors. Listen and relax, let the journey be the focus, not the destination.5Out of Africa MusicMy husband loves the movie and we have had to replace it twice. When he had the chance to get the soundtrack, he jumped at it BECAUSE that is the real reason he likes the movie, I find out; So he puts that on when he walks on the treadmill in the winter. That is when I go into another room and read. For so many years hearing the same, yet beautiful music, is a bit much for me, but he just walks with his head in the clouds and relaxes.5My favorite soundtrack and movieI love this soundtrack and so does my 8yr old. Very happy with the quality of the product.5Better Love Intense than nadaI get too emotional when I watch this film from the day it was screened, even now soooo many years later....many women who seek adventure with life and men have a very high price to pay and this personifies this relationship....the music was so well placed and ultimately memorable and is used in some LA radio bits for heavens sake!!! Streep is the perfect selection for this role and of course Redford in his stoney perfomance as per usual is predictable but us women just fall for this intimacy...you just want to scream at her to understand this man as she is attracted to that type of character but women are portrayed as strong but much more weak than I would prefer...a very emotional and incredibly filmed scene after scene and then there is Juma...but what happened to the dog for cryin out loud!!!??? I will never forget this movie...it moved me to my core as I am very much like Carin or however u spell her name...Nabu??? Mamsa??? oh well, the first flying scene will remain with me forever...5Got better with ageYears ago I bought the cassette tape which had an annoying contemporary song at the end thaat was jarring and not in keeping with the rest of the music. Thank God they corrected that mistake with this little gem.5I recommend this excellent CD with the memorable musical score of ...This CD has memorable music that evokes a time long gone when the World was a simpler place.
