Customer Reviews

Great for now, still not sure about long-term usabilityWhen I first tried this capo, I was extremely happy with it, and, for the most part, I still am. It is nicely made with a smooth finish and a strong screw clamp. However, there are two reasons I have given it four stars. As I continued to use this capo, the plastic the screw winds into was creating tiny shavings as I unscrewed it repeatedly. This is not a problem right now, but it may jeopardize its long-term use. Also, the rubber piece that touches the strings is easily grooved/marked after using for a while. Eventually, you have to turn the rubber over for a clean clamp. This is an amazing out-of-the-box capo, but if you use it with high frequency like I do, I don't believe it is worth $18. A great capo, but only if it were cheaper.4Works as intended! Don't overpay on all these other capos!I recently purchased a new Taylor ps14ce 2018 model and was a little concerned about the clip style capo I had that I've used for years. It was actually ok but didn't clamp the top strings as well and I wasn't sure if it would leave a mark on the neck over time so I purchased this capo. It doesn't scratch or dent the deck or fretboard in any way and is a perfect clamp for all the strings so no rattle can be heard and the neck isn't under any un-wanted stress. It seems very durable yet only the test of time will verify this but as far as functionality and ease of use, this capo is just what you need! I'm using it on a $9000 Taylor so don't be so worried about using on anything more or less. Just be sure to have the clip at the top and henge at the bottom like it says on the packaging and don't overtighten it. Put it on just barely snug and play the strings openly with one hand while you slightly tighten the capo with the other hang just enough so all strings play without buzz and you are good to go. Slightly loosen it gradually and flip the clip and open to remove it. Some people store their capo near the truss rod cover beneath the strings but I don't do this but you might be able to with this capo. I just choose not to for cosmetic and storage reasons.5stays in tune but there are better designs.these variable pressure capos do keep your guitar in tune better imo. but this is not my favorite design. you can't get it past say the 5th or 7th fret on either of my acoustics. it just won't fit the neck thickness. it's harder to take off then the C style capos. and it didn't keep my guitar in better tune. my fav now is the d'addario. btw, even my fixed tension capo stays in pretty good tune if you place it right.3My favorite capo.I used to love my Shubb capo because its adjustable pressure allows me to use it without pulling the strings out of tune, and with the lighter pressure the strings last longer too. But I was constantly setting it down and having to search for it. This Page P6E is perfect, it's always on my guitar ready to use. And because of the way it's designed to apply equal pressure across the fretboard, it eliminates the buzzing I often had with other capos. Yes, it takes a moment longer than the clip on quick change capos (I have one of those too), but it's worth a little extra effort to me to save wear and tear on my guitar and strings.Update Nov. 2015. I just ordered another one so I will have one for each guitar. Love it!5Awesome capo style! Screw popped out while opening. My husband was so excited to get this capo. He love's the style! We would be happy to give it 5 stars, except when he first opened it, & took it out of the pack on Father's day to use, the screw that holds it together immediately fell off. He was able to kind of get it rigged together well enough for now, but it's unable to be put together right! The style of capo is perfect for his needs, but for the price I was a little upset that it came out of the pack broke.3Less Pressure - Better SoundI was skeptical about this screw-down capo thinking how inconvenient it would be to take on and off my guitar on stage. However, it can be placed easily and securely on the nut and ready for an instant key change. I was pleased that it did not depress my strings like the spring-loaded capos I have used for years. There is less sound distortion and tuning adjustment with this capo. I use it all the time and keep the old clip-ons for backup just on the odd chance that I lose this one. It is solidly constructed, lighter in weight and will last for many years to come unlike the spring-loaded devices that keep breaking on me after a few months. If you buy it and use it a short while, you will not go back to your old capo spring-loaded or rubber band capo again. Why have I not bought a second for a backup? This thing was built to last a lifetime.5It matters. This is the ONLY capo that applies 90 degree perpendicular squeeze evenly to the fretboard: 90 degrees means NO buzzing because of tilted, off-90 orientation. And the screw tightener is the only accurate way to correctly apply force, a tiny bit, just enough; springs can't do that. But there's moreGuitars have different radius' built into the fretboard. Classical guitar necks have a flat cross-section, while Elec and US style steel string guitar necks have a curved cross-section. But there are exceptions that will make it hard to get a perfect capo result:I have a classical, a 1970's Takamine, that has a micro curve radius neck. Every set-up man has fought me until he sights down the neck, sure enough: a perceptible curve ! Elec and US style steel string box guitars have different radius curves on the neck ! Until capos are manufactured to specifications appropriate to different neck profiles there will always be some fidgeting with the darned capo. Until then, Paige is the best.I ask guitar manufacturers: Please provide product/model specific capos to each guitar you sell. Guitar players deserve the engineering values violin players have enjoyed for 500 years. It matters.jon masters, Musician5Very unobtrusiveThis capo works well. Most importantly it holds the strings down tight. It's easy to move it out of the way by sliding it up over the nut when not in use. It's small and stays out of the way when you're using it as well. I can leave it mounted and never worry about where I put it. The spring clip capos work well, but I really don't like having to clip them to the head when not using them or wonder where I left them. They're also larger and a little harder to work around while playing.5Paige is one of the best Capos for the money on the marketFact: Too much clamping pressure makes strings go sharp. Spring capos have only one clamping pressure so most times you need to retune your guitar to play with perfect pitch. Also, they don't play well with electric guitars if you are bending strings. With the Paige, I can set the pressure perfectly so the stings are in tune but don't buzz or thump. Also, these work on both electric and acoustic guitars...and my Ukulele. Yes, they are a little more troublesome to install but worth the extra 5 seconds.5Best Capo Design - A No-Brainer!I can't believe I put up with the old clip-on capo's for all these years. I always just assumed that part ofusing a capo was having to re-tune because they pressed down so damn hard on the strings and that pressure wasnot adjustable. And they stick out like a bayonet or something. This capo has a low profile and is much less bulkythan the other type. It fits perfectly to the neck and you actually adjust the tension to where you want it!Meaning you tighten the screw just until the string rings clear (like your fingers would) and no more. This might seem like more work than a clip-on but the few extra seconds is more than made up in not having to re-tuneafter using the clip-on kind(!)On my acoustic I keep it lightly attached just above the nut when not in use and all I have to do is slide itdown onto the fretboard when I'm ready to use it.5
