    Good filmMaybe Rotten tomatoes didn't like this film, but I did. But with Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford and Liam Helmsworth what's not to like. Yes, the story is a theme we have heard before, but it was still engaging. It's nice to simply have a story without a multitude of explosions and Superheros rushing around.4Subpar acting from leads, unplausible plot developmentRight from the start you feel like you are being force fed character development. Most of the characters are nerd stereotypes of some sort. Acting from Ford/Oldman was good but the rest not so much. The biggest problem is that it's difficult to root for the main character from his initial mistakes through his misguided attempts to redeem himself. Can't really say much more without spoiling anything but will just say that the movie is predictable if not a bit frustrating. Also, why the title Paranoia? The characters showed no paranoia - if they had, movie would have ended before it started. "Let's use the corporate card to go to that really hip club we couldn't get into last night!" "No way Liam, that could get us in trouble!" That didn't happen but with just the smallest bit of actual paranoia movie would have ended right there and saved me a lot of time.2Awful.Maddeningly bad. Where to begin? The plot is absurd to the nth degree. Little of it makes sense. Zero chemistry between the two leads. The main characters are all so shallow and the dialog is beyond trite. So many details were off as well. It's a terrible script, poorly executed. I noticed the Philadelphia film commission was thanked in the credits, which make sense because very little of the movie looks like it was shot in NYC. Inauthentic, boring, shallow, far-fetched. This thing stinks. (There is one great scene towards the end with Ford and Oldman, but even these two guys couldn't save train wreck.)1A taught and gripping thriller; very much underrated!This is a great movie that is extremely underrated. I honestly can't understand how this movie isn't appreciated more than it has been.Gripping, well-crafted script; wonderfully acted by a very strong, A-list cast; and wonderful production value. The Blu-ray is pretty much the typical blu-ray transfer, which is always far better than the standard version.All in all, I love this film. I wish more people would give it a chance.5Worth a shotBefore watching this movie I had read a lot of the popular media reviews on it and many were placing it about 3 stars - some 2. I like all of the actors in this so I decided to give it a try, and I am glad that I did.Long story short, I really enjoyed it. Is it some major action movie blockbuster that has potential to take over the world and every action loving fan with it? No. And that is where I think a lot of the poor reviews are coming from. It isn't a movie that is completely going to blow your mind.Is it entertaining? Pretty good cast? A cohesive flow? Understandable? Pretty good acting? A decent amount of action? And interesting story? Yes to all of the above.I especially liked the story. Has it been done before? Yes. But it was entertaining enough to keep my focus glued to the TV, so that's what counts. Sometimes I felt like there could have been a little more emotion - or perhaps a different emotion shown. But I didn't think it to be one of those movies where the potential was completely lost because of poor acting.Overall, if you're looking for a decent movie with a little bit of hit and run thrill, you might be pleased with this.4a couple of acting pros rulea fun and well done film with Harrison ford and gary oldman, but liam hemsworth did not live up to the acting talent of the real stars of the film. enjoyed the premise of the film and will probably watch it again. enjoy. I watched it again and realized the real actor of the film was Richard dreyfuss why did they not use wonderful amber heard more......4Great all around movieIn the hit or miss picture quality lottery game we play w Blu ray discs it is refreshing to see this one registers in at 30-35 Mega Bits Per Second (it should be a law that MBPS is listed on the product) great:casting,acting,story,ending,directing,soundtrack5Rating the product not the movie itselfI suggest taking the multiformat option down and selling these as straight Blu-ray. Just received my copy and upon opening the digital code is from Ultra Violet. I figured no worries I have until the 30th to link my library to another account before they shutdown. Unfortunately the code did not work, and after reading the fine print it expired back on 9/23/17. I can't even contact foxconnect.com for an updated code as they too have closed that page. Anyway for what I paid made it a good value for a Blu-ray. It's just misleading to others in the future who might do the same thinking they are getting a digital copy as well.3ParanoiaThis movie is reminiscent of "The Firm," starring Tom Cruse. A group of young up-start tech engineers pitch their new software program to the head of a high-tech business firm in hopes of obtaining the necessary financial backing to put the product onto the market. The plan backfires, however, when the company CEO (Gary Oldman) rejects the product and the spokesman for the young techie group takes his frustration out by using a company credit card to finance a bar-hopping party for his colleagues. On the hook now for possible criminal charges, the young Techie is blackmailed into a world of industrial espionage from which, it appears, there is no way out. This film is packed full of action and drama just like "The Firm."5Who's Watching You Now?This film didn t seem to attract much attention when it came out. It has a solid cast including Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Liam Hemsworth, Amber Heard and Richard Dreyfuss.The film is adapted from a best-seller corporate-espionage novel. Adam Cassidy [Liam Hemsworth] heads a small team of developers working at Wyatt Corporation. The action is supposed to be set in Manhattan, though the filming was actually in Philadelphia. Adam is a bridge and tunnel kid , as his would-be girlfriend puts it. That is, he lives in New Jersey and commutes into Manhattan, and he is middle class at best, but aspiring to climb up the ladder of corporate success and become at least moderately rich. All his team-mates have the same dreams.Wyatt Corporation is locked in a death-struggle with its arch-competitor, Eikon Corp (I LOVE the name!). In this age of merging media, each aspires to gain dominance over the cellphone industry and basically, every other form of electronic media to boot. Gary Oldman plays the boss of Wyatt Corp, and Harrison Ford plays Jocko : Jock Goddard, the head of Eikon. Watching the competition, I couldn t help but think of Apple vs. Microsoft, though perhaps Apple vs. Google is a more apt comparison today Well, Adam blows his presentation to the boss and he and his entire team are let go. Then the boss offers him one chance to redeem himself: weasel his way into the competitor, Eikon, and steal the designs for their upcoming cellphone. Adam is reluctant. It s criminal! I could go to prison! Oldman/Wyatt points out that EVERY CORPORATION steals from other corporations. This is business as usual So Wyatt positions Adam Cassidy as an apparent big star at his company, and gets him recruited by Eikon, his competitor. Now the plot truly begins.Naturally Adam falls head-over-heels for a bright and attractive young executive at Eikon, Emma Jennings, played by Amber Heard. And gee, Harrison Ford s Jocko seems like such a LIKEABLE guy. Sincere; interested in producing great new products; informal, even kind to his employees. By contrast, Wyatt and company appear .well, downright EVIL In discussing the Next Big Thing, Jocko explains to Adam that People are gonna LOVE it! They ll have instant connectivity to everything they want! And .we ll know everything about them! Adam says uneasily, Do you think people will be bothered by all their personal information being under one roof? To which Jocko replies, No what will matter more to them is that nice COZY FEELING under that roof. Well of course it turns out that Jocko is nowhere near as benevolent as he seems on the surface, nor is he fooled by Adam or by Wyatt. Adam is the biggest chump, getting manipulated by both companies in turn. Can he manage to survive in one piece?Without revealing too much of the plot, I ll just say it manages to find a reasonably happy ending. But what still resonates with me is the images: cellphone voice recorders recording you when you don t know they are; their cameras filming you while you don t know; TV set-cameras recording you; and you have no idea how many people have access to all your data, nor what they may do with it. That sobering reaity in this internet age goes way beyond one character s story, or even the story of two corporations. I give this film a B. Some reviewers hated it, and said it offered absolutely nothing new. I think that it kept up a good pace, had me feeling the emotions Adam was feeling, and left me pondering bigger issues at the end.4
