Customer Reviews

Wool dryer ballsI make wool dryer balls out of this. Works perfectly for that5Stinky when wet plus spectacular shrinkageWanted to add this update - the socks I made shrank incredibly so I would advise to not put any garments made with this yarn in your dryer. Original review - I had never crocheted with wool yarn and wanted to try and this was so reasonably priced I went for it. Its a little difficult to work with because micro strands of it are forever coming away from the main string. Not so bad as I was crocheting along but a real pain when I had to pull out several rows. The tiny loose strands would anchor down stitches preventing them from coming undone. Also not good is the smell of the socks I made with this yarn after laundering. I put them in with a regular wash load and then into the dryer. Everything else dried but not the socks and they smelled like a wet dog. So I hung them outside for a few days, then brought them in and had to leave them out to continue to air for several more days before I felt it was safe to put them away in a drawer. The socks feel nice and I look forward to wearing them as slippers this winter. But not looking forward to the ordeal of washing and airing every time I launder them. I have other wool socks, thick ones, ones that I did not make, and they wash and dry just fine. So I don't know what the issue is with this yarn. It proclaims to be washable.3Pale Blush color infoI think this is a beautiful yarn, BUT the pale blush is more vibrant in person than the photos would have one think. It s definitely a very young looking pink while I was hoping for a dustier pale blush as the photos show. The plant pot holder photo in the listing is a better hint at the color, it s a very clean and bright pink. If that s what you re looking for Yahtzee!5Eh... Feels a little different from the last Patron classic wool. I got them from a different vendor. This one just feels a bit thinner for some reason... 3Patons Very nice yarn, great color. I used it to make 2 dryer balls & this yarn worked wonderfully! 5Use gentle pressure when knitting or crocheting with. It works yes, but it pulls apart entirely too easily while knitting. I Have to hold it with gentle pressure or it starts to pull apart. 4Dryer Balls w/ Roving YarnThis yarn was a breeze to use to make dryer balls with. Wind it in to two balls, stuff in an old pantyhose leg and tie off, wash in hot water, and dry on medium to high heat. Voila! Homemade dryer balls for half the cost. I'll be ordering more for this purpose. And I agree, the yarn was not itchy and scratchy, like I expected it to be. I didn't pull super hard on it while winding the balls, but it did not feel as though it would tear apart under pressure.5Amount of yarn is mislabeled, beware!I really liked the quality of the yarn, but I was extremely disappointed to receive about half of the amount listed. I was linked straight to the Dark Grey color, and the description clearly states "223yd/204m".. I bought two skeins, or just enough to complete my project, and received two marked "120yd/109m". This error seems to ONLY be listed with the Dark Grey color, and it was my misfortune to choose to buy that particular shade. I felt pretty upset about it, but I was forced to keep and supplement the yarn: I didn't have the time to return it and find more yarn, and I couldn't seem to find a way to contact Amazon and complain about the mislabeling... only initiate a return.Beware, you will get HALF the amount you think you're getting if you order in the Dark Grey color!2Breaks Easily But Thick, Warm when FeltedOnly 4 stars (instead of 5): breaks easily. But perfect for *carefully* knitted slippers and hats for felting. Once felted the yarn makes a delightfully thick, warm, and water resistant fabric.4Not Too Bad for Mass Produced Store Brand YarnI bought this because I needed a bulky yarn to make a sweater quickly and I also wanted it to be cost effective. This yarn cost more than I wanted to spend on a mass produced store brand and even thought it was cheaper in JoAnn's and other places, they did not have the colors I wanted. The yarn was not so bad. Other reviewers said it was like actual roving. It is not. There is twist to the yarn. I also did not have the problem with it splitting as some others have mentioned. My biggest complaint is that they did not do a good job cleaning the yarn. I kept picking, what I can only hope was straw out as I went along. One ball also had a knot in the yarn. I hate that. There was also decent stitch definition with a nice halo. I'm not sure if I would purchase it again. Definitely not online as it was more expensive. But if I had a need for bulky yarn and nice colors were available in-store, I might.3Great for dryer ballsFor my purposes, it's perfect. I use wool (just carded wool like you'd use for felting) then wind wool roving around it to make dryer balls. Then felt them, of course. It's inexpensive and several of my customers have given them as gifts. I've used mine for over a year and they're still in good shape.5BeautifulLove this yarn & was great for my project. I used it to add texture in my hand-hooked Santa s beard. But I m sure it would make a delicious scarf, etc. I may just order more and use up this skein in a knitted piece.5Best Wool Yarn Got this to make my wool dryer balls. They are so awesome. Felted so well. I'm believing I found my go to yarn. It's so soft, I just may try to crochet a scarf to see how it feels on the skin. I believe the price is fair because of the excellent quality of Patons yarns. I would very highly recommend this yarn and any others they have. 5soft but breaks easilyI love this is actual wool, although I don't know the quality of the dye... anyhow, this is super soft but also falls apart as you're knitting. Very frustrating for my 5yr old who is learning.3Soft and perfect Perfect yarn, but then Paton's yarns are perfect. My favorite for color, softness and strength. I used this to make Wool Dryer Balls. and they came out perfect. Thank you for having an awesome product 5
