    Do You Use a Jag Tip? Read This!If you use a Pro-Shot or Tipton jag tip on your cleaning rod these patches will not fit down a .22LR or .223 bore; they are too thick. I gave them a Two Star rating because they WILL work with a slotted tip. Since I only use jag tips, the best patches for my .22 caliber guns are the Hoppes 1202 synthetic patches. These are only available in 60 count packs. I hope this review helps. 2So Much LINT. Cotton EVERYWHEREWriting this covered in LINT and gun oil.These patches are horrible and left our guns covered in lint, looking worse than before the cleaning. We had to clean them twice thanks to this subpar product.Where are the 5star reviews coming from?Do not buy. STAY AWAYIf you would clean your firearms with a poor quality cotton ball; this product is for you. Otherwise don't fall for this SCAM 1Vastly Superior To Other PatchesI have used other patches sold here on Amazon, but recently decided to try the Pro Shot 2 round patches, and they are far superior. Below is a photo of the two respective patches, and note the difference in quality between the Pro Shot and the other brand when viewing the clean cut edges of the Pro Shot patches as opposed to the other brand. Also, because the Pro Shot s are finished on both sides, they absorb better, and you can even get extra usage out of them by turning them over as you get toward the end of cleaning the gun s barrel. I highly recommend this product. 5Thicker and better than thin gauze patches; each individual patch lasts longerI like the feel of these patches as they are thick and each individual patch can clear up a lot of dirt before having to discard.As with all flannel patches, it does leave a little bit behind but I vastly prefer these to gauze-like patches which are too flimsy and thin as these pro-shot patches do a much better job of soaking up carbon fouling, dirt, grime, left-over lubricant, etc. I use this to clean my 9mm pistol and 12 gauge shotgun with great efficiency. 5UPDATEThey are the size I wanted and they are cotton, but there are threads that come off. Not the quality of other patches.Outer patches are less expensive and better quality.Update: I ended up throwing 490 of these in the trash. They fray like crazy. Went with Outers cotton patches and they are great. 1GREAT CLEANING PATCHESI have used many different brands of cleaning patches over the years with mixed results. Some cleaned well, but left lint and or strands of fibers behind while others either didn't clean well or fell apart during cleaning. Some patches aren't sized correctly for a given caliber and either are to snug or to loose to fit the bore and fail to proviide a good contact area for cleaning. Still others don't hold fluids well for cleaning/oiling. Some of the brands I've used are Otter's, Hoppe's, Brownell's etc. The Pro Shot just WORK WELL without the above mentioned issues. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but most of the time you get what you pay for and Pro Shot is well worth it (use less in the long run over other brands) for their performance. As noted they are flannel with one side fuzzy soft and the other a little coarser with it's thread pattern more exposed. 4Work Great On My 9mm. Too quality.Bought these for my 9mm and fit well, though I will probably go up a 1/4" next time around for an even better fit. No issues and can highly recommend, though there might be slightly cheaper alternatives. Too quality. 556 I think this is the best choice out thereThere are only two brands of patches I'll use and this is one of them. When it comes to .223/5.56 I think this is the best choice out there. It has a consistant fit, not too tight and not too loose. I've tried many other brands that the quality control lacked enough that I had to trim every patch to fit it down .223 barrel. Pro Shot has never let me down after years and many bags of patches.Try them and I believe you'll like them. 5Cleaning patches are as necessary as breathing to a true gun enthusiastEvery so often, I read some article about some dummy bragging that he never cleans his pistol ... and it's still going strong after 2,000 or whatever shots. Me? I clean my wife's and my guns even if we've just shot a dozen shells at the range! I never want to wonder if, the next time I pull the trigger, it might be too gunked up to go "bang." In my world, you can never have too few cleaning patches! There's nothing worse than running out ... and having to cut up your T-shirt to make your own patches! Besides, when I resorted to that stratagem, my T wasn't as clean as I like my patches to be when I'm swabbing the bore with Hoppe's No.9. The only issue I have is really a function of my cheapness ... because I don't want to invest in a variety of patch sizes. So, sometimes, I'm having to stuff a .45 patch down a .22 barrel, which might mean cutting the patch in half ... or vice versa, which might mean trying to double up .22 patches in your cleaning rod slot. 5Seem pretty good.While I m still not quite sure whether I prefer these over the jersey/t-shit material patches I was using before (The Professional s Choice brand), they seem to do pretty good job. They are the thickest patches I ve used, which definitely gives them superior absorption, and the flannel texture is great at scrubbing and grabbing up fouling. As a few others have mentioned, and as is typical with most any flannel patch, they do have some fraying at the edges, and can leave behind a *small* amount of lint in the barrel (not enough to actually be a problem, but worth noting).While it s difficult to tell for sure, I think overall they do just a bit better job at cleaning out the bore, so I ll probably stick with them. If you are someone who is concerned with any amount of lint leftover, I d highly recommend the brand of jersey patches mentioned above instead. 5
