Customer Reviews

Even better than expected!I love this folder, and cannot believe I didn't buy one sooner. I am preparing for a long concert (1 & 1/2 hours) and was dreading the cramps I get in my left hand when I have to hold a normal binder. The strap on the back of this folder is saving my life, and it is even adjustable! My current piece is in a book too large to use the elastic sheet music holders, but the extra elastic to hold the folder shut is much more of a benefit than I expected. The pockets are very spacious, and the overall quality of the folder is fantastic. Highly recommend!!5Works well!I really needed a new music folder so looked at a lot of different ones since prices varied quite a bit. I really don t need the deep inside pockets as I never have that much music at any one time but did want at least 5 elastic bands to hold my music. The inside corner of one of the deep pockets had gotten folded a bit in the seller s storage but seems to be flattening out ok as long as I make sure to lay it flat before closing the folder. So far the elastic cords that hold it closed work great. Tight & secure. I like the hand strap on the spine too. I think it s a lot better than others I saw. Comfortable and has a slip buckle to easily tighten & loosen it & it stays put however tight I need it.Can t say what exactly makes it still for gives it its body but the cover seems to be a nice quality vinyl and there s an extra piece on the spine that s stitched to give that extra strength. I guess my only complaint is that the cord that s made to hold the binder in sort of a V shape so that your folder doesn t flop open when you re using it is just a bit too short. I really can t see both pages of my music that well. It needs to be an inch or 2 longer, IMHO. However, it s possible to take it off completely without removing it so that it can t be put back on. I m hoping to fix the problem with a longer cord if I can find the end pieces to hold it. They re like shoelace aglets but with half not attached so that it goes through the holes on both sides at the bottom then you torn it sideways so it won t go back through. Don t know what those things are called but it works fine. I ve provided photos to better explain what I m talking about. All in all, I like the folder & think it s well worth the price.4Holds a lot, but won't close all the way. These folders will hold a LOT of music. The problem is that the spine isn't made for the thickness that the pockets will hold. When I put all my music inside and closed the folder, the edges stayed open at a wide angle. Think of the greater-than sign: 3Mostly good, but has one design issue...Protec Deluxe Padded Music Folder - BlackTwo local community bands that I'm in use standard unpadded music folders that are 12 3/4" wide x 14 1/4" high x 1/4" thick, with two pockets that can each accommodate 3/4" of music. This Protec folder is 11 3/4" wide x 13 3/4" high x " thick, with pockets that can each hold an inch of music. Either folder is sufficiently large for any band music in our band's huge library. For use by an individual, the padding is a nice touch. However, if used by a large band in volume, the extra 1/4" thickness per folder could be a storage issue if folders are stored centrally. That is, for every four Protec padded folders, an additional inch in storage space would be needed, versus unpadded folders. The Protec is nicely made with a soft black exterior vinyl, a stiff cardboard backing, brass-plated steel corner reinforcements, and is well-stitched. There's an interior pencil holder. The only issue is that if you leave the folder on the stand, any music placed against it will need to be clipped on somehow. That's because the folder's pocket flaps sometimes won't allow music to lay flat. Personally, I keep the folder in my gig bag while pulling out only the charts being played. But, this could be an issue for some players/singers.I needed two folders, but bought only one to check out the quality. I'll be getting another one...4Easy to holdI love it. I do song recitals but no longer memorize the material. I have used music stands to keep my hands free. But this is so easy to hold, I like using this folder much better. I successfully pulled off several rehearsals and a performance using it with no problems. I had a Dover addition Mendelssohn song book, a Ravel songbook, both fairly thick along with Copland s Settings of Twelve songs by Emily Dickinson. As I finished a song group, I slipped each book out of the folder to make it lighter to hold. This all went smoothly and easily. They made a video and I think it all came off quite well. Better than using the stand. I highly recommend it.5Buy it and thank me later!I bought this because I only had flimsy paper folders for my music and I was tried of it getting bent and falling out. This is perfect because you can fit a ton a music inside, has a pencil holder, and I can also got my tuner inside. I don't have any problem using this on my music stand, and it's is really nice quality.5Not useful to use on a music stand. This music holder looks good in the picture, but when you put it on a music stand, the inside pocket flaps stick out and it's hard to put music out in front of the holder. I have tried to iron the flaps down, but they still stick out. It is poorly designed, and is not useful, because the music easily falls off the stand because of the flaps from the pockets. I am very disappointed. I would not recommend this music folder to anyone.1FANTASTICSo sleek and professional looking, I just HAD to purchase. I purchased this as an undergrad student, and it has lasted me through the years. After I first bought, I would have processionals take notice. Maybe it was my playing, but I m sure it was how nice and professional this folder looked. It made me feel serious and look that way too. It protects all my music, and it s such good quality. I would recommend to anyone and everyone!5Perfect for young musiciansAfter my son's sheet music recently fell out of his tote bag straight into a puddle, I realized he needed a better system for bringing his music to and from lessons. This folder is perfect! It easily fits his trumpet book, composition book, and sheet music with room to spare. The pencil holder is a great touch too. The quality is much better than expected (not sure what I expected but this falls firmly into the "fancy" category, haha) and the elastics are thick and sturdy. I loved it so much I immediately bought a second one for my daughter.5This folder is amazing. It has a little handle on the outside ...After buying a cheaper version (what was I thinking??), I did a little more research. This folder is amazing. It has a little handle on the outside to help hold while you are singing, plus it has a few elastics to hold the music in place. When you are done, there are some strong elastic bands to hold all of the music in the folder. I gave it a 4 star ONLY because there weren't many elastics for the music. I wish they had closer to 9 or 10.4
