Customer Reviews

Remove either the 1/4 or speakon sleeve to check for bad or cold soldering then re-solder itHi There,I see in here people complaining about the quality of this cable. Well, with a $15/30 feet cable, you don't expect it last for years or forever. Pay attention after hooking it up if you hear no noise, static, feedback or any distortion. Remove either the 1/4 or speakon sleeve to check for bad or cold soldering then re-solder it. Pyle does not do a good soldering about it. This issue happened to one of the cable when I tested my system. Then I opened up all cables to re-solder them. Other than that, I have owned 2 pairs of this Pyle Pro cable for 4 years already, using them to power up the Behringer PMP4000 to SA speakers, and other set Pyle Pro power amp 4100 to SA speaker without any issue til now. I subtract 1 star because I spent time to trouble shoot it.4FALSE advertising, NOT 12 gauge wire. Measures 15 and is probably really 16 gauge under the solder.I use these in pro sound from power amp to passive speaker. I need 12 gauge to handle 500 watts into 8 ohm speakers at 50 feet. Smaller cable at 50 feet has too much resistance for that load. Took apart the speakon connector end and the solder coated wire at the end measures 0.058" max, this is the size for 15 gauge stranded cable, with the solder on it, means its probably really 16 gauge cable not 12.12 gauge stranded cable should be nearly or at 0.10". My 12 gauge US made West Penn #227 stranded wire measures 0.098" on the same gauge, so its not my gauge, its their wire is undersize and FALSELY labeled 12 gauge when it is 15 gauge or less. False labeling like so many Chinese nuts, bolts and other hardware.1Misleading product...This is absolutely not 12 gauge wire...I bought this cable along with some neutrik connectors to make a 5' speakon cable for a bass guitar amplifier. I figured that if the reviews were right and the connectors were terrible then I will just buy this cable and some nice Neutrik connectors, discard the included ones, and have 25' of 2 conductor wire left over in case I need to make other cables, Speakon or otherwise. Not a bad deal for about $30... Well, I was wrong. This cable is not 12 gauge wire; it's more like 16 gauge, possibly 14. I can't use this for what I wanted to. I will keep it and use it as backup cable for a home theater sound system, but I could've just bought normal speaker wire for that.As for the connectors, the Speakon connector is not bad. It's much longer than a Neutrik and certainly not as solid, but I wouldn't be worried about using it if I had to. Also the Speakon end was connected very well internally. The 1/4" connector however, was not. The connector itself is very nice looking and feels very sturdy but the soldering job inside was terrible. The wire wasn't tinned before the connection was made and the joint was a cold solder joint plain and simple. I have no doubt this cable would've failed eventually with normal use.1By far the best quality anywhere near this price range. These are sturdy cables with THICK wires - seems more like 14 gauge than the advertised 12 gauge wire, but that's just nit-picking! - these are some damned fine conductor cables. That means less IxR drop, which starts to get important at 30 feet and beyond.Definitely gig-worthy for anything short of heavy-duty tours. The ends look beefy, they are reinforced at critical junctures, and they stand up well to moderate abuse. The ends are easy to access and re-solder should the need arise. Plus they're mighty handsome. You'd have to upgrade to monster cables to get much better, and they have quite a high price-tag.Pyle has a earned a reputation for over-rating the technical specifications of their products. It's a shame, because they are some of the best quality items in their price range. No need to oversell, guys! I'm giving 5 stars for what they truly are: a bargain.5Cable is fine, but connectors fell apart on day 1.Used these for one show. One of the speakon retaining clips broke off for no good reason whatsoever. Under stress these don t hold up. We had a crappy Behringer 1x10 wedge that was so poorly designed that you couldn t plug the cable in and set it down without it putting pressure on the 1/4 jack. We were in a bind and had to chance it, and as soon as I tried to unplug it, the tip broke off inside..which was a tricky extraction due to needing a 12 shaft screwdriver and taking apart a printed circuit board to repair it. This part is really on Behringer, but it also suggests that with wear and tear, neither connection would hold up.I m fine with the quality of the cable itself, but these connectors are garbage. Do yourself a favor. Make sure you buy a cable with reputable name brand speakon connectors and you ll save yourself some headache. I m keeping the cable and cutting all of the connectors off and resoldering and re-terminating the ends with proper connectors.2Dig Deeper before You BUY !!!!My ignorance was showing when I ordered these and the Description didn't help! It turns out that there are three different [Families] of "SpeakON" Connectors and up to several different VERSIONS within each family, so "SpeakON Compatible" may not mean that these will work in your situation. We needed the "Two-Pole" version to fit our Peavey XR8600 Powered Mixer, but these were Four-Pole and would not fit. ( ...but it turns out that you CAN use the Two-Pole Plug of this Family in a Four-Pole Socket... ) ...Very Confusing !!!!! PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU ORDER THESE, TO BE CERTAIN THAT THEY WILL FIT IN YOUR EQUIPMENT !!!! They were well made - Good Cables, but I had to return them. - Donald Coley -5It appears that they couldn't get a good flow likely because not enough solder was used but I haven't used these yet but I inspected the cables before I gifted them to my father for Christmas. The solder joints do look very amateur. It appears that they couldn't get a good flow likely because not enough solder was used but, all ends were terminated on both cables that I purchased. Even if I have to fix them after a couple uses, they're worth it in my eyes because of the price and the gauge of the cables. Buy them, if they come loose and you're handy you already know how easy these are to doctor back to health. I will try to remember to update this once I test them out with my pops. 4Poorly fitting Speakon connectors and high failure ratesI ordered this cable as well as the Pyle-Pro PPSJ50 50ft. 12 Gauge Professional Speaker Cable Compatible With Speakon Connector to 1/4'' model only to discover the following flaws:(1) The Speakon connectors are low quality in my opinion. My biggest complaint is how poorly they mate with the connectors on my powered mixer. I also tried them on my power amp, which is the heart of my studio sound system with the same results - no smooth fit and disengaging from the mated connectors is even worse. I had to use pliers in one instance!(2) Cables are fragile. I've experienced over a fifty percent failure rate with over ten cables. Not a good indicator of quality in my opinion. It is possible to cure flaw (2) by re-soldering the connection points,. Fortunately, the connectors are designed for quick removal and to provide access to the wires. However, that means that you still need to purchase decent quality Speakon connectors to rectify flaw (1). Considering the additional costs it is probably cheaper to purchase a higher quality brand in the first place.Another point is I agree with others that the cable gauge does not appear to be 12 ga. That is not the barrier to me because it is still heavy duty. It's the failure rate and what I consider to be extremely low quality Speakon connectors that compel me to recommend against this cable.1Solid cables for the price. They feel well built and the connections seem solid, especially for what the price range was. I've been working with live and recorded sound for 30 years, and have used all types of cables; and even the best could have flaws. But, for what it's worth, these seem to be able to hold up on their own. I'll be honest though, I bought these to be used in more permanent situation without a lot of movement, so I can't testify on how well they would hold up in daily/weekly set-up and tear-down.Overall, I would buy them again even if they failed 5 years from now.5DECEPTIVE! DO NOT BUY! 16 gauge cable sold as 12 gauge!Ok folks, nothing irritates me more than liars and deceivers. As you can see when compared to actual 12 gauge cable it is half the size. The cable itself even says 12 gauge when it is clearly 16. The copper conductors themselves (aside of the outer jacket) are significantly smaller as illustrated. Shown in the photo on the left is real 12AWG CABLE that I already have next to the garbage from Pyle.1Pyle, check your measuring tape... Nice cable, decent quality wire, connectors - so so. And, as most people have commented on, the wire is NOT 12GA, more like 18GA.The issue I have, and I'm not being anal about it, is both cables were almost 2 feet short of 50'. I specifically bought these to use for exact length runs, and now I've got to get another cable to make up the difference...Not cool... 2VERY LONG CABLE!!!I bought 2 of these cables cause I bought a new amp, so I had to buy these cables, so I saw the cables that are at a good price, so I couldn't turn them down, and when I got them in the mail, it looked short, but when I stretched it out, I got astonished. because I have ordered another amp, and 2 subwoofers, I have ordered 2 more to make myself reach a good ways, that way I have room on the stage for weddings, starting out clubs, or bars that don't even have a decent sound system. These are useful cables, but the thing that questions me is, why is it 5 times more expensive to buy a speakon to speakon cable that length, when you can buy 30 foot cables with 4 wires inside one, and buy the speakon connector off ebay, and build your own 30 foot cable for a little over the price of one of these? It's ridiculous. so if I want to change from speakon to speaker into speakon to speakon, I'll just buy the speakon connector off ebay for a couple bucks, and make it speakon to speakon. problem solved.5
