Blending Ennio Morricone's signature "Mule" with soul music from the ...Blending Ennio Morricone's signature "Mule" with soul music from the 1960s and rap music from current day, this soundtrack shows just how important music should be to a movie. Quentin Tarrantino's "Django," will be hailed a classic of its genre for decades to come, no doubt in large part to the impact of the music on certain key scenes. There are numerous tracks, but the track with James Brown entitled "Unchained" should have been a radio hit. This CD belongs in your car CD player while you are driving on a long trip. It will make that trip enjoyable.5Django Uncahined - "The D is Silent"Quentin Tarantino is the master when it comes to using music in movies. No matter what the situation, the music always perfectly captures the emotion that you are seeing on screen. "Django Unchained" is one of the most interesting and diverse movie soundtracks to be released in a long time. I highly recommend it (along with all of Tarantino's other soundtracks - check out "Jackie Brown" and "Inglourious Basterds" if you haven't done so already). There are a lot of great songs on this album - a few newly produced for the film, but most are older songs. My two personal favorites are "Who Did That to You?" by John Legend and "100 Black Coffins" by Rick Ross. But every song on this album is memorable.Instead of using an original score, Tarantino uses existing music from classic films. Therefore, on this album you will find tracks from the great film composers Ennio Morricone and Jerry Goldsmith. Among them, "Sister Sara's Theme" and "Un Monumento" are the best. These cues have been taken from other westerns and have been re-purposed for use in Tarantino's film.Another unqiue touch is that this album includes some dialogue from the film... normally this would be useless on a soundtrack, but the writing in this film is so great and the actors deliver the lines in a way that almost make it sound musical. So while listening to this album, every once in a while you'll hear a memorable quote from Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, and Samuel L. Jackson, among others.**Note: iTunes seems to have an exclusive 24th track - "Ode to Django" by RZA.5Great record, but not colouredI ordered this to Canada from the US site because I'd been led to believe that only the US site offered the white "blood splatter" vinyl. Even so, I only got the black discs. Maybe since I'm in Canada I still got mine from the Canadian store? Or maybe the limited splatter discs are sold out. Anyway, keep that in mind. The gatefold and inserts are awesome, though, and the music is worth owning. It says on the inner sleeve that Quentin pulled the tracks from his own collection with the pops, cracks, and needle drop so that the listener would have the same experience he'd had. Pretty rad.3What you think she's doing there...in the hot box??Perfect for Django lovers like us! Just love all the songs on here with the pops and clicks, it's like you are sitting right there with Quentin Tarantino listening to it on a record. We got a kick out of the little blips of the movies best phrases. I don't think I've ever had that before! Really great. Comes in a three fold hard paper case with a booklet of artistic pictures of characters from the movie and a list of songs with a Wanted poster on back. I can't wait to get all the other soundtracks of our favorite director!!5Fantasic release for a fantastic soundtrack.I've been a huge fan of just about every soundtrack to a Tarantino film that's been released and this is no exception. Though surprisingly this is his first film to feature multiple tracks made specifically for the film and they're just icing on the cake of an already great list of tracks. Now with this vinyl release music lovers and collector's both are in for a real treat. This version features the soundtrack laid out over two LPs that are white with a blood soaked design and it truly does look stunning. Now many have complained about the retail price of this being $45, however if you're smart you'll notice quite a few sellers on here parting with it for less. I personally only paid $30 for this and I consider it money very well spent. The vinyl sounds amazing and the presentation of the whole package is one of the best I've ever seen for a movie soundtrack. I highly recommend this release to anyone who wants a little something special with their soundtrack.5Almost PerfectThis soundtrack is incredible. Every song is unique and tells a story of it's own. When compiled together, it creates a rich tapestry of music both past and present. The only thing that stops me from giving it 5 stars is the dialogue from the movie that's thrown in before and after each track. I loved this movie, but I don't want to listen to bits and pieces of dialogue while I'm trying to relax to music. I find it terribly jarring, and disturbing, especially since a lot of the dialogue taken from the movie is focused on using the 'n-word'. I thought the use of the 'n-word' in the movie was appropriate and effective, however, on a soundtrack, it's just distracting and takes away from the listening experience. But overall, it's a great music compilation.4Loooooooooove!As the headline of this review states, I LOVE this. It has very rarely left my car's CD player since I purchased it over a month ago. Every single song on this soundtrack is fantastic. The packaging is cool, plus is comes with a nice little poster. I went to see Django (the movie) three times, so I might be a little biased. But if you enjoyed the film, you'll enjoy this soundtrack. It also has snippets of dialogue from the movie, even bonus pieces that weren't in the movie. Tarantino is brilliant :)5package arrived in good conditionSorry for responding so late but package arrived in good condition4Django SountrackI heard the cut "Freedom" on NPR by Anthony Hamilton and Elanya Bolton :bought soundtrack immediately.Quentin Tarantino's soundtracks are universally renowned for his quirky combinations, and this does not disappoint, but rather, is his best, surpassing "Resovoir Dogs",for it's originality and collection of diverse genres that merge into a cohesive collection that makes sense...and I have not seen the movie!5Expect old with new. With all the modern technologies available these days, there is no need for any new CD to have any flaws, but you will be surprised not only to hear the cracks, but also the stylus being lifted and placed on to the LP. Well don't be after you read the following: "Tarantino picked out older recordings, many of which came from his personal vinyl collection. Instead of having the record companies give him new digitally cleaned up versions of these recordings from the 60 s and 70 s, he wanted to use the vinyl he's been listening to for years, complete with all the pops and cracks." Pity, as we have become accustomed to trying to find the cleanest versions of old material available, without any extraneous noises.3
