Customer Reviews

Super useful for cross-stitchThis is incredibly handy for laying out a grid in counter-cross stitch. I m so glad someone recommended this to me!I use it to mark out a grid on the fabric, and when I m done I just pull out the threads. It slides out easily and leaves no marks. You can even reuse the same plastic thread on your next project. 5It comes with a handy set of instructions for how to use the line best, but there are also numerous youtube videos that ...This product has transformed the way I cross stitch! It comes with a handy set of instructions for how to use the line best, but there are also numerous youtube videos that show you other ways to "stitch" this line into your fabric. Mistakes are to be expected in cross stitching, but this product SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the amount of time spent on fixing errors (i.e., I've caught mistakes much more quickly). For those who are price conscious, you can definitely reuse the product. I've been gridding small sections of my fabric and when I'm finished, I'll stick my needle into the knot, anchor one end with my hand, and pull the needle towards the other end of the line to remove the knot. Then I just reuse the line to grid another section of the fabric. I could not recommend this product enough (especially for people who work on full coverage projects). 5Might have been good product. but....the piece that holds the line on the holder was cracked so when I opened it all the line just started unraveling so I have a huge mess. I just have to cut it in pieces to use. I would not purchase again. Would be a good product if it stayed on the holder . very disappointed. 2Worth the price and time to use.I decided to give this product a try, after getting so confused doing my last stitch project. My current project is about 11" X 14". It took a few hours to use this thread to stitch the grid pattern onto the fabric. But it has made stitching so much faster and accurate. One thing I figured out was I didn't have to apply the grid to the whole piece, just the stitch area. That should save some time and grid thread. I've done counted cross stitch for over 30 years, and this is best aid I've found. 4easy-count can be easyI like the concept of this. I love that the thread won't get caught up in the cross stitch or other stitches, stain the cloth, and is very easily removed. With regular aida cloth I would do as they recommend 6 on top four on the back. When counting on double thread linen such as 28 or 36, I constantly lost my place or miscounted and had to do over. This fabric is really where I need the guide lines. I would recommend 5 stiches over (10 threads) and 5 under so not to have to recount and recount. I also mark the guide lines according to the guide lines on the pattern, not exact center so I can follow the pattern more directly and easily. 5There's better & cheaper filament availableI have been searching for a filament to use in cross stitch gridding. Bought Sufix Performance Braid 6lb fishing line in fluorescent orange. Easy-Count is stiffer, harder to knot ... so stiff that put on a needle, folded back and twisted hard, if left alone will untwist, unfold and let the needle slide off. You can't push it through the fabric and leave it alone even for a minute. Sufix is just as visible, much easier to use and costs $2 per 100 yds. R & S Designs has a good idea for a product needed for a niche market, but bought an unsuitable filament. I suggest they contact whoever makes Sufix and buy 10,000 yards or so and repackage that. Better yet, find a filament that is more limp and workable than Sufix braid. What R&S is selling now is no good. Having said that, this stuff is better than gridding with floss, and is a useful product. 1A Good Product, But Some IssuesI thought this stuff was a pretty neat idea and decided to try it on a difficult project I'd already started. I'm not that experienced with counted cross-stitch and I just grabbed a pretty kit off the shelf when I was going out of town and needed something to do in the hotel room. Unfortunately the project I chose was on 28 count black canvas and even with my young healthy eyes I was having major trouble keeping to the plan, especially in such an intricate picture with individual stitches spread out all over the place. So I got this stuff and installed it on my canvas, which took half of forever because the canvas is 11"x17" (I really should have put more thought into my choice). It did its job, and I immediately noticed a few mistakes I'd already made. It has helped me stay on course and I might actually finish this project in this century, but there are a couple of things to consider. This line is kind of big, at least compared to 28 count Aida. The holes it goes through are going to be the size of my bellybutton by the time I'm done just from the line moving around as I work. Using a frame or loop pulls and bends the line as well and I don't know if it will stay strong until I'm done. Also, it's kind of difficult to work the needle around this stuff, especially where 2 pieces cross. Still, I'm definitely moving faster overall and that's something.I'm knocking off 1 star because it's obviously not made for the size of canvas it would be most useful on, but overall it's a good product. It takes a little time to set up but you'll save much more time that you spend, that's for sure. 4Works greatIt is easy to use, fit through my needle perfectly and fits through the holes of my cross stitch fabric well. There is some curl to the line since it is coiled on a spool, but that starts coming out the longer it sits on your cross stitch. 4Lets you keep your place when you cross-stitch.This is a great way to keep your place when you cross-stitch. You use it to mark the grid on your fabric, which makes it easier to keep your counts correct. Depending on the size of your project, it may take a while to make the grid lines on your fabric, but would you rather do that than have to take our a large number of stitches.. I think it is great. I have used it for projects as large as 20 x 26 and it makes the stitching go faster for me. 5Game Changer For Cross-Stitching!Where was this 20 years ago? This guideline has been a game-changer for my stitching. Before, I've used red thread, but the problem with that is that when you pull the thread out at the end, it leaves little fibers. With this Easy-Count Guideline, that doesn't happen. Another bonus - this guideline is reusable. How to use this: Find the center of the fabric, as you would when beginning any other cross-stitch project. Locate where you want the first grid guideline to go on the fabric in relation to the center. Stitch a length of this line between two threads of your cross stitch fabric. Count 10 stitches over, and stitch between those threads over and over until you've created parallel lines along the whole length of your fabric. Rotate the fabric 90 degrees, and repeat this process until you've created a grid of 10x10 stitches for easier pattern reference.LOVE THIS. 5
