Pretty colors, not bad for the price.I couldn't resist the gorgeous colors in this, and immediately started knitting a lace scarf pattern as soon as it arrived. The colors are beautiful jewel tones, with a bit more raspberry and purple than other colors. I'd like a bit more of the bright blue, personally, and maybe less green, but it is quite nice as it is. It's got a bit of sheen to it, kind of satiny, and feels nice to the touch. I'm not generally a fan of acrylic, but this feels a bit nicer than the average cheapo skein. Not as "squeaky" if that makes sense.Minor issues: I really enjoy the gradual transitions, and knitting along seeing what color is coming up next... until I was in the middle of a raspberry part and pulled a knot out of the center of the skein. The pink end had just been tied with a double knot to a green section! Luckily the knot fell at the edge of a row, but still now there's one hard pink/green transition where the rest of the scarf has soft gradients. I've also had it break on me, twice. I just overlapped a few inches and knitted it in, since the break was at a thin spot (as you'd expect). I've found a few thinner spots, and some thicker bits. I've seen this in expensive wool yarn with similar color transitions, and this is less pronounced than in, say, Noro, but something to be aware of. I've also had to deal with a few tangles. Annoying, but not terrible. All in all, I like it. Not the best yarn out there, but it's pretty and the price was good!
4Love this yarn!I have not used this color yet, but I have used this yarn. I can't wait to make another project with this color, however. As soon as I discovered I liked this yarn, I ordered a few skeins in a variety of colors. :-) I will note that this yarn is "sticky" in that it wants to cling to itself when it's been stitched. If you need to backtrack, do so very slowly and carefully pull out stitches. Also, though this might not be a drawback to everyone, but this yarn gets a little fuzzy when it's been worked. I made a broomstick lace scarf with it, and the scarf is not smooth as in the pictured yarn, but rather slightly on the fuzzy side.
4Beautiful colorway, ultra soft yarn easy to work withJust as described. Beautiful colorway. This yarn is ultra soft, it has different thickness through out the yarn to give it different textures as you work with it. Making each item you make unique in its own way. Very easy to work with. Highly recommend and I will be buying more in the near furture.
5Novice crocheter, but gorgeous yarn completely overshadowed my ineptitudeI am a total novice crocheter, and this decadent yarn completely overshadowed my ineptitude with the hook. I used "parrot" to make my daughter an infinity scarf. Red Heart Unforgettable has a slight sheen to it and isn't uniform in thickness. I used a couple of skeins, so it wasn't a cheap project by any means. I did have to start over once and use a looser stitch, and I had some trouble with tangling...but keep in mind I'm operating at a REALLY basic level. My daughter was happy. I was happy.
4Great yarn for the priceI really like this yarn. Despite its one problem. Although it is rated as worsted, it is closer to DK in thickness and knitted stitches per yard. That is the only drawback I have found with this yarn. The yarn itself is a subtle shading from lavender to a greyed pastel blue, then to a pastel rose, ending in white, repeated throughout the skien. It is a surprisingly strong yarn, for what often looks more like roving than yarn. I have not experienced any issues with its strength or any extreme thick-thin areas, although there have been almost unnoticeable areas of thick-thin yarn. The yarn has a sheen similar to silk yarn, handles like some of my homespun, and is easy to knit with. I am not an experienced knitter, having only done crochet work until recently. This yarn would be lovely to crochet with, too. All in all, a great yarn for the price.
5Beautiful grey-shades yarnI have used this yarn several times before but this color is very pretty. It doesn't transition as drastically as I would have liked, it is more a light grey to dark grey than a black to white. But finished projects are gorgeous. As with the other yarns in this line they do vary greatly on thickness. There will be sections that are almost thread-like and other sections that border on chunky yarn. But it has never negatively affected my projects.
5Beautiful color, some frayingI used Echo to crochet a scarf (v-stitch variant, size 5 mm hook), and chose it mainly for its color. The color variations are not totally consistent, but I personally don't mind the look. The weight is listed as 4 (worsted weight), but I find it closer to 3 due to its delicateness. I think it works better with a size 4.5 or 5 mm hook, as opposed to the recommended 6 mm hook. My finished project has a slight sheen, which I find very beautiful. The reason I gave this 4 stars is because the yarn has a tendency to fray. I would definitely not recommend it for beginners or for anyone that has to pull apart their work frequently. Overall, if you are experienced in yarnwork and are gentle with your stitching, I would recommend this yarn to you.
4Mixed feelingsI did not enjoy using this yarn but I LOVE the final product. For me, there was too much variation in the thickness of the yarn. At times it was super thin and much thicker at other times. It looks great, I just like more consistency. My second skein had a few knots in it and a few areas where the yarn was so frayed I had to cut it out and reattach while working. It is really soft and the colors are great.
4Beautiful, but really twisty in the skeinBeautiful yarn, but DANG it's twisty when you pull from the middle (like ya do...). Every dozen stitches or so, I have to hang the project and let it spin to untwist the yarn. I'm going to love the project once it's done, but it's not the easiest yarn to work with.
4The colors are great but the yarn has some issuesThe colors are great but the yarn has some issues. it is very thin in some areas and has a tendency to bind together. The items do turn out soft but I would not want to use it for a baby blanket as the yarn has a tendency to pill and let loose "hairs" that I would worry about winding around little ones fingers and toes.*** update*** I have fought with this yarn for a bit now and would not buy again. it has tangled and become a mess just trying to wind it up. Still love the colors just not easy to work with .
