Customer Reviews

Pretty colors, not bad for the price.I couldn't resist the gorgeous colors in this, and immediately started knitting a lace scarf pattern as soon as it arrived. The colors are beautiful jewel tones, with a bit more raspberry and purple than other colors. I'd like a bit more of the bright blue, personally, and maybe less green, but it is quite nice as it is. It's got a bit of sheen to it, kind of satiny, and feels nice to the touch. I'm not generally a fan of acrylic, but this feels a bit nicer than the average cheapo skein. Not as "squeaky" if that makes sense.Minor issues: I really enjoy the gradual transitions, and knitting along seeing what color is coming up next... until I was in the middle of a raspberry part and pulled a knot out of the center of the skein. The pink end had just been tied with a double knot to a green section! Luckily the knot fell at the edge of a row, but still now there's one hard pink/green transition where the rest of the scarf has soft gradients. I've also had it break on me, twice. I just overlapped a few inches and knitted it in, since the break was at a thin spot (as you'd expect). I've found a few thinner spots, and some thicker bits. I've seen this in expensive wool yarn with similar color transitions, and this is less pronounced than in, say, Noro, but something to be aware of. I've also had to deal with a few tangles. Annoying, but not terrible. All in all, I like it. Not the best yarn out there, but it's pretty and the price was good!4Love this yarn!I have not used this color yet, but I have used this yarn. I can't wait to make another project with this color, however. As soon as I discovered I liked this yarn, I ordered a few skeins in a variety of colors. :-) I will note that this yarn is "sticky" in that it wants to cling to itself when it's been stitched. If you need to backtrack, do so very slowly and carefully pull out stitches. Also, though this might not be a drawback to everyone, but this yarn gets a little fuzzy when it's been worked. I made a broomstick lace scarf with it, and the scarf is not smooth as in the pictured yarn, but rather slightly on the fuzzy side.4Beautiful colorway, ultra soft yarn easy to work withJust as described. Beautiful colorway. This yarn is ultra soft, it has different thickness through out the yarn to give it different textures as you work with it. Making each item you make unique in its own way. Very easy to work with. Highly recommend and I will be buying more in the near furture.5Novice crocheter, but gorgeous yarn completely overshadowed my ineptitudeI am a total novice crocheter, and this decadent yarn completely overshadowed my ineptitude with the hook. I used "parrot" to make my daughter an infinity scarf. Red Heart Unforgettable has a slight sheen to it and isn't uniform in thickness. I used a couple of skeins, so it wasn't a cheap project by any means. I did have to start over once and use a looser stitch, and I had some trouble with tangling...but keep in mind I'm operating at a REALLY basic level. My daughter was happy. I was happy.4Nice, inexpensive roving yarn, unexpected stripes, thoughts on using this yarnI love Unforgettable yarn and use it regularly in projects, including hats and scarves, and soft enough for baby blankets too. I think this yarn produces projects that look decidedly upscale, with a look and feel of quality. It feels soft and a bit fuzzy, but also has this subdued, gorgeous sheen. The colors in the finished project look a little different depending on the lighting. That said, I was initially disappointed with the "Stained Glass" yarn. The photo makes it look like it works up in a rainbow, with more purple. Instead, it worked up with a variety of stripes, in every color imaginable, but all of which could be described as stained glass colors, and despite the variety of colors, they all harmonized well.Basically, it was not what I expected, but the result was lovely anyhow. I used this yarn to make an infinity scarf for a young woman, and she loved it, loved the stripes and colors. (pictured)THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS YARN:** This is a roving yarn, which means parts of the yarn will be thicker than others, from a slight bulky feel to a thread. The threads are strong, but sometimes I'll do a double stitch when the yarn is extra thin, such as placing two double crochet in the same stitch, making sure to catch both stitches together when I crochet the next row. I love Unforgettable roving yarn because it gives my projects a wonderful texture, with beautiful stitch definition.** From personal experience, lot number does make a big difference. Check that you have enough for your project.** This is a wonderful yarn, but it is also inexpensive. As such, one does find knots. With the Stained Glass yarn, transitioning to another color was easy and not obvious. With colorways that flow more subtly, one could end up with obvious transitions.** It's not too difficult to pull this yarn apart, especially if it's been used over and over (the more you tear it out and start over, the less stable the yarn becomes). In other words, be careful not to make mistakes -- or at least too many of them!** This yarn will tangle. It likes to stick to itself. Beginners in particular might find this frustrating. Because it sticks to itself, it can make ripping out stitches difficult/unpleasant/impossible. I've been trying to talk myself into balling the yarn, instead of using the pull from the center. Balling is a pain. But so is untangling. All that said, I love this yarn. While it has its issues, it's worth it for the beauty and softness. It's so soft, the colorways so beautiful and rich, and every finished project I give as a gift is always greeted with pleasure. I hope I've been helpful!4Beautiful grey-shades yarnI have used this yarn several times before but this color is very pretty. It doesn't transition as drastically as I would have liked, it is more a light grey to dark grey than a black to white. But finished projects are gorgeous. As with the other yarns in this line they do vary greatly on thickness. There will be sections that are almost thread-like and other sections that border on chunky yarn. But it has never negatively affected my projects.5Regret.This yarn is absolutely horrid to work with! It is very pretty yes. But its bad. Definitely not a beginner yarn, I now regret purchasing enough to make a table throw.... its just so unmanageable. it had many knots in all the skeins I yarn balled and when you try to get them out the yarn snaps so easy and it knots just as easy also. A few times just yarn balling the fibers just pulled apart. The color Fading is not consistent, most of the time it fades in a striping situation instead of gradual to the next and dont even think about going back correcting any mistakes in your work. Its almost impossible as it gets so knotted up in its own fibers when you try to back up, you just have to trudge forward or you risk knots and more breakage. I would never purchase this again!I from now on and going for quality over cost for projects. This yarn just made me depressed that I couldnt even get a table throw made with relaxing ease. I started crochet to relax and destress and make something pretty. Not be thrown into irritably over crappy yarn at every turn. So disappointed.1Beautiful color, some frayingI used Echo to crochet a scarf (v-stitch variant, size 5 mm hook), and chose it mainly for its color. The color variations are not totally consistent, but I personally don't mind the look. The weight is listed as 4 (worsted weight), but I find it closer to 3 due to its delicateness. I think it works better with a size 4.5 or 5 mm hook, as opposed to the recommended 6 mm hook. My finished project has a slight sheen, which I find very beautiful. The reason I gave this 4 stars is because the yarn has a tendency to fray. I would definitely not recommend it for beginners or for anyone that has to pull apart their work frequently. Overall, if you are experienced in yarnwork and are gentle with your stitching, I would recommend this yarn to you.4Mixed feelingsI did not enjoy using this yarn but I LOVE the final product. For me, there was too much variation in the thickness of the yarn. At times it was super thin and much thicker at other times. It looks great, I just like more consistency. My second skein had a few knots in it and a few areas where the yarn was so frayed I had to cut it out and reattach while working. It is really soft and the colors are great.4Inconsistent qualityI have purchased this brand and type of yarn before with better results. This skein was very inconsistent in its quality and width. About half of the skein was much thinner than the other and it produced a smaller item than previous skeins had. Roving yarns are usually a bit varied in thickness, but this was so varied that it produced an inferior item made with the same kind of yarn. It was very disappointing. Now, I have noticed that the same yarn is priced about twice as much as when this was purchased just about a month later, which is quite more than other similar yarns.4
