    Great MusicI was around to see the TV show that most of this music came from. If you're a John Denver fan then this music is a must. However, if you're a fan you probably already have the CD. I also have the CD and this download is every bit as clear. A great addition to your holiday music library.5Essential Christmas CDFor me, this is one of the essential Christmas CDs. John Denver's voice is so expressive that he brings the songs to life. There are a number of new songs for me.Aspenglow is perfect to open the collection. It evokes everything that John Denver represents. Please Daddy Don't Get Drunk This Christmas is well done, but makes me sad this happens during such a happy time; the country twang makes it clear what genre it fits in. I don't think I got the full impact of Christmas for Cowboys until I moved to the Texas Panhandle and saw for myself the wide open plains and the glory of the stars. A Baby Just Like you is a song every parent can relate to.Of the traditional songs, I really enjoyed the playfulness in Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer. The tenderness in John Denver's voice is palpable as he sings Away in a Manger. He sings O Holy Night and makes it sound effortless. There truly isn't a bad recording on this collection.If you are a John Denver fan, I feel sure you already have this CD; if you don't, what are you waiting for? If you enjoy Christmas music, this is one I think should have as long as a hint of country is okay with you.5Beautiful Christmas music by one of my all time favorite artists.This is the 3rd copy of this wonderful album/CD that I've bought. This time for a gift. I've had this album for many, many years. It's not Christmastime til I hear this. This is played every Christmas Day at my house, with a couple of other Christmas albums. Love my John Denver. Miss him.5Love it!Grew up listening to John Denver and appreciating all things associated with Rocky Mountains!5Christmas songs of the pastThis is an excellent CD and one of the best Christmas recordings made in the last 30 or so years. I remember watching John Denver's Christmas specials when I was a kid and I really enjoyed the Christmas Carols he sang on them. I was looking for a long time for his Christmas CD but wasn't able to find it. What a nice suprise it was when I was able to find it on here and I received it during the Christmas season. It really made the season more enjoyable and I was able to remember back to my Christmas's of youth.My favorite song on the CD is "Coventry Carol" it is an old English Carol and has that feeling of being in London during the 18th or 19th century. Another favorite is "Oh Holy Night", and Denver sings it oustandingly. But every songs on this CD from "Aspenglow" to "Dreamland Express" are wonderful to listen to over and over again during the Christmas season.I highly recommend this CD to all who love good Christmas Carols and those who enjoy the singing voice of the late John Denver.5The Season is Upon Us NowI recently replaced my old vinyl of this recording with a new CD. I have to say, this recording is still my facvorite Christmas recording. It has a musical and spiritual intamacy that so many musicians long for but fail to achieve. It has a nice mix of traditional and original music that should satisfy your christmas music craving. There are two new recordings, Jingle Bells and Whit christamas on theis CD. It was nice to hear new material by John. John has never failed to deliver music if it was not first perfected, live or recording, it was all good.My wife had never heard this before I purchased the cd, she absoulutly loved it. It will now be on of our standards of Christmas music. My personal fav's are O Holy night, Coventry Carol and A Baby just like you.Enjoy and Merry Christmas!5My favorite Christmas CDThis was a replacement for the original CD which I bought years ago. I was so happy that it was still available and it arrived before Christmas Day. For me, John Denver's treatment of Christmas music is perfect. There is no over-arrangement but just his voice singing each song simply, as I believe they were meant to be sung.I somehow lost my Christmas CD's but this one was the most important to me to replace. Even back in the days when everyone liked to make fun of John Denver, I appreciated the clarity or his voice and his range. I particularly like his rendition of "Silent Night," sung with just the accompaniment of a guitar, just the way it was originally written.The CD was adopted from a television special by the same name. His song, "A Baby just like You" was written for his son, Zachary, and it was very special to me because my first child, a son, was just 9 months old at the time. That was the last song on the original album but on this new release, there are two new songs. And I did actually have the album in vinyl; then the CD, and now this new CD.I have never cared for the song about the father getting drunk at Christmas but I can ignore that for the wonderful treatment of the other songs.I highly recommend this album for anyone who enjoys peaceful, lovely Christmas music sung by a man with a tremendous voice that continued to get better until his tragic end.5The "Must-Have" Christmas Album of John Denver, of course....In the realm of singers, song-writers and stars, there has always been at least one "Absolute-Must-Have" album from nearly every star, and for some of them, more than one...or even more than two. With John Denver, I believe it was his "Poems, Prayers and Promises", "Rocky Mountain High", and this, his Classic, timeless Christmas album.He held us in the beautiful magical catchiness of his lyrics and his wonderful voice, lulling and totally captivating us with his musical charms.We sang along with him on his records, we sang his songs ourselves, and tuned in to specials, and went to concerts and we were never disappointed or let down...and then he was gone (as has happened with so many of our beloved singers and songwriters, etc.).I finally could not go without hearing once more this wonderful album that I owned on LP many years ago; and even though it was "after Christmas" I ordered this anyway recently and have played it many times since receiving it, with the same original thrill of enjoyment that it brought to me all those years ago. John Denver is another of those wonderful artists that have that timeless, forever, ring in their voice that keep them always in our memory and in our heart, still, after all these years.You could do a lot worse than to add this great piece of Holiday Music History to your collection....it is, after all, another "Perfect Christmas Album" like so many others also by other artists.~operabruin5This is always been my favorite Christmas albumThis is always been my all-time favorite Christmas album.
